Totally agree with all the posts, this place is just a money making enterprise & has no place in a Thai temple pretending to offer animal welfare...
as for the missing tigers they're probably in a jar in China by now with the abbot nicely rewarded!
just one thing I'm confused about though:
Quote:
The three tigers are among seven Bengal tigers which the department under former director general Plodprasob Suraswadee seized from the temple in 2001 but left them under care of the temple after it promised to look after them.
The three missing tigers are 3-7 years of ageEven if the tigers were aged 1 year old in 2001 that would now make them aged 14 years, if my maths is correct or am I missing something ??

I always assumed forward momentum and glide ratio would prevent a plane from falling from the sky?
With loss of engine power I would assume a certain amount of directional control would immediately follow, possibly allowing for a slight sideways or even tail stall,
only when the aircraft is put into a steep nose dive by the flight crew would a "glide ratio" to come into effect...
hence the sudden loss of altitude & deployment of oxygen masks... normal procedure. as practiced by all flight deck crew during training.
as for the "multitude of nosebleeds" I can only assume these were inflicted during a time of panic among the passengers & caused by other means than "altitude drop" or sudden loss of pressurisation.

"The Civil Court of Thailand in Bangkok ruled that "the temporary banning order would affect other actors -- therefore the court has cancelled the temporary banning", he said."
so nothing to do with the social media ridicule, then.......
Or the loss of revenue at cinemas nationwide??

Earlier in the day the minister had said Thailand was warned about its aviation management after an earlier ICAO audit in 2005. "(They) asked us to improve our systems. I understand we have to improve urgently."
Thainess in full operation, ignore the warning for 10 years & only do something when the "arse pocket" is effected....

Totally agree with all of the posts above, this guy appears to be sick in the head & obviously wanted the stepson out of the way....
I haven't watched the video so cannot comment further, except this is what brings me to my point of reply:
As stated in the original post the police got hold of the CCTV footage on the Friday, which showed without question that this guy was committing an offence:
but the post states the video went "viral" on Saturday!!
Surely this CCTV footage would be used as evidence in a court of law to bring a serious charges against him, so how was "critical" evidence leaked into the public domain??
A good lawyer with his head screwed on could twist this leaked evidence to use in the defense of this sad man!!
-
I wonder what medium will be used to record the footage, and if it will be inserted so that all the cameras are actually in operation??
Also what about all the drivers without a licence, using false plates or have moved location without notifying the licencing center ?? -
for a minute there when I read the headline I though it was a crack down on prostitution in the making
Not in out lifetime... or the next... or the next... or the next !!!

Maybe Thailand can export this to Asean.. I'm sure their neighbours will be very impressed....

She'll happily go to police station to pay the "huge" 2000 baht fine... then hot foot it back to the beach where she can make that back in 5 minutes!!!
Better deterrent would be to burn the said items..
cause her more cost for replacement & time off the beach while she goes shopping !!

Thailand might have to start introducing rules covering water shortages, like in the out back of Australia you never have a shower any longer than 10 mins regardless of the water situation, start introducing water restrictions.
Maybe have to impose new laws..
The first on my list is "share a shower"

That story doesn't even make sense.
He voluntarily spent every last satang he had, such that he couldn't even get a room?
Nonsense.
Not if you're brains are temporarily mis-placed in your underpants !!

While I agree in principle with posts #4 & 5 it does seem to be the contractors at fault, but I've seen this happen in my area,( in one incidence several times at one particular set of road repairs) I asked the very same question to the contractor who had to pull vehicles out of the way every morning before he could continue work.... the answer was plain & simple:
We put up warning signs & lights every night but people steal them to sell for cash/recycling or materials for something else !!
TIT nothing more to be said !!

At least you know it doesn't get any worse once you leave the airport.
Unfortunately for some it gets much worse !!!!

Another example of an overreaction by a Thai.
At least a monk isn't slapping them, they are not drunk and are not in a bikini.
Sorry to dis-agree with you on this point!!!
It's not an over reaction by a Thai... it's Thai etiquette when you are within the grounds of a temple (even if you appear to be in a park)
Thais practice this behaviour when on sacred ground & expect other nationalities to respect their culture/belief/religion & follow suit!!

How can this happen when Pattaya has the special beach Police (in orange) patrolling 24/7?
Because the Bib run the beach & this is a way to continue to earn money from the traders (whatever they pedal)
on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
If they're locked up, shipped out where will the tea money come from??
As always it is business as usual!

If the authorities really want to keep death off the roads over the New Year period why not just get tough!!
Why not state that if found driving with alcohol in your blood during the 7 day holiday period you will incur a severe penalty..
ie
Automatic 12 month driving ban, large fine & re-take your driving test !!
But then the authorities aren't serious & I'm just a party pooper !!
Merry Xmas to all

What on earth is happening in Koh Tao ?
What's happening in Koh Tao is a familiar story of Thailand's resort areas in general... it goes a bit like this:
From the beginning>>>
Someone finds a nice quiet beach & calls it "paradise"
instead of keeping quiet and enjoying it they tell they're friends & blog about it, very soon it's all over the internet.
Thousands more come to have a look, seeing the interest the natives move in for the kill, open up the usual array of restaurants, bars & knocking shops
once established as a place to make money they're quickly followed by the mafia & the Bib who take over!
Lawlessness ensues so then the dregs of society move in, fueled by alcohol, drugs & greed death will soon follow!!
In my humble experience when you call somewhere paradise you can soon kiss it goodbye !!
Moral of this story:
If you find a stretch of paradise, open a good book, put your feet up & keep your mouth shut!!!
