Farang Talk, I don't think prison is the answer. I remember back about 30 - 40 years ago in the US, a lot of these problems were solved by sending a bunch of these same kind of young kids into the military. It gave them discipline and even taught them a trade. I think it would be worth the effort to look at that for these so called gangs. just saying..

If their guilty of committing a crime of serious bodily harm then they must pay the penalty & do serious time in prison.

If guilty of violence in a public area then why only 10 weeks in boot camp.. 2 years service would serve them better to get them on the straight & narrow path. Along with a stern warning to the appropriate college to do it's part in educating it's students in the correct way to conduct themselves in public.. or close them down!!!!

Quote: During the exhibition, Yingluck told the invitees that her government had prepared several measures to prevent floods such as forest restoration and plantation, creating water retention areas, dredging shallow canals, raising road surfaces, installing pumps and improving the early-warning system.

Basically everything that should have been in place last year before the rains came.. but then T.I.T

Which waits until the inevitable happens then takes half the measures required to prevent a re occurrence.

  3. I wonder if Thailand will be able to keep up with the likes of South Korea who are also vying to become the best medical hub in Asia.

They are years ahead of Thailand in terms of research & development into all illnesses & not to mention hospitals, facilities, airports & infrastructure.

Thailand has only 1 inbound international airport & very poor transport links from that point onward.

Thailand maybe the cheapest for a boob job or "snip" but that's all.

Yingluk has quoted that "48 million Thais, or 75 per cent of the population, are given medical and health services in accord with the government’s policy" When you look around Thailand is a nation of walking wounded, a testimony to the governments policy towards the importance of the people’s health and quality of life!!

I don't think there will be much of a queue at "Swampy" to get your life saving treatment even at Thai prices !!!

  4. There is no lie. No flooding this year. Flood defences being upgraded in case of flooding in future years. Pretty simple really.

So Yingluck saying a few days ago that there might be flooding was the lie then?

Figure it out for your self. She is a clone of Thaksin.

Flooding is a sad facet of reality. You can't blame any particular politician for natural disasters. Its a collective problem of irresponsible people in society not thinking about the future, its a buddhist mindset........

You can blame politicians for not taking notice of global warming, rising water levels & the inevitable fact that BKK is sinking & will be under water within 50 years..

Don't patch up the holes in the wall now, plan for a new Capital on higher ground!!

  5. With regards to the rape & the printing of her name in the paper I have utmost sympathy..

    I'll tell you why:

Last year in my province (not too far west of BKK) I have an Iranian friend & his Thai wife living here for 10 years now.

On their way home from shopping at Big C they were followed along the road by two Thai men on their motorcycle

my friend was riding his with his wife as pillion passenger behind.

Suddenly he heard a couple of cracks/bangs & his wife screamed out in pain, she had been shot twice by these men,

once in the back & once in the leg, almost falling off she clung to him but he had to pull over to stop her from falling off completely.

As he did so they rode past & he was shot in the arm.

Luckily a car was passing at this time & scared them off before being robbed or killed & took them to hospital for treatment.

The local newspaper who covered the story published their full names, details of where they worked & if you can believe it their full home address!!!!

After staying in hospital for emergency treatment he managed to give a description of the men & motorcycle to the police, his wife was in for over a month after receiving major surgery.

He had to move from his home for safety reasons, lost his work & suffered many days of fearing for his life every time he visited his wife.

When he complained to the police & newspaper about what they had done they just said they were reporting news & doing their job!!

No remorse or apology given or even a sense of what damage they had done!!

Now they have rebuilt their lives in a different province after 1 year of trauma, with no compensation for their financial losses.

Needless to say the culprits were never found, even though the police said they had a strong idea who it might have been as it wasn't the first time this had happened... I was speechless & lost for words at this omission..

But then I remembered this is Thailand!!

  6. If it was a simple case of road rage why are the police telling his father to be cautious, surely with the death of his son all the road rage should be over ??

Why was Farut carrying a gun with him in his car & did he have a licence to do so ??

    Road rage my "arse"

Just another cover up until Chada can find those responsible & take his revenge!!

  7. What a joke.

Transparency? They can't even account for the hundreds of billions spent this year and want massive amounts more for next.

One line items for projects costing billions would not be acceptable in any country or for any business.

Yingluck flees again, Kittirat doesn't bother to show any respect. Is this governance or has the mafia taken over?

The "Mafia" was alway's in control & still is !!

  8. Witnessed the very same thing here in my district yesterday & today, motorcycle cop's setting up a road block for "crime prevention" purposes.

Every motor bike that came along got pulled in, the officer started the bike, revved it up & then had a little chat.. the owner handed over their papers with a little "extra something" added in the back. The officer handed back the papers without even reading the contents & put the bonus in his pocket.

After about 30 minutes the officers 5 in total gathered around in a huddle & had a share out of the money.

    I'll say no more !!!

  9. Actually I think in my humble opinion the "government' once again is showing it's complete lack of understanding & education!!

Shouldn't they be talking about a minimum "hourly rate" as apposed to a day rate.

I mean what constitutes a working day????

6 hours like the government officials, 8 hours such as office employees or 10, 12 or even more like in the real world!!

Let the people be paid for what hours they work, theres a big difference between Bt300 fo 8 hours than Bt300 for 12 hours!!

I'm sure someone can work out the hourly rate for skilled workers then a pro-rata rate for semi-skilled un-skilled etc

Then it's up to the employer to work out how many hours each employee works per week/month.

Also many "canny" employers pay a daily minimum retainer for each day with the employee having to make up the rest with percent payment from sales,

this is why you see so many staff at large department stores all vying for your purchase.

This practice should be outlawed & let them be paid for a fair day's work in relation to the hours they are clocked in!!

  10. Not enough memory on the computer, malfunctions, inadequate data, the person recording the licence plates didn't have a pencil, when he got a pencil he ran out of paper..

But hey lets just ask the farmer what he grew & how much he pledged because that's just so much more transparent!!

When oh when is Thailand going to hang these corrupt officials high on a pole for all to see & to start to do something about the blatant corruption.

All rice mills that did not comply with the rules & regulations set out for the monitoring of the pledge scheme should have the CEO marched into court, prosecuted to the highest level of the law & sell all his assets to to refund the country of lost revenue!!

Maybe just maybe then officials will think twice before stealing from their own countrymen..

  11. Airports of Thailand (AoT) can kid Yingluk as to their state of readiness, they can even try to kid the rest of Thailand including themselves, but when it comes to international flights & passengers you just can't kid the rest of the world!!

    You've been found out!!

  12. Quote:

Meanwhile Chiang Mai police announced the arrest on Friday of Police Senior Sergeant Major Wasan Wisarutwesaphu, 45, at a Chiang Dao district checkpoint along with 22,000 Yaba tablets and a pistol as he drove his pickup truck to deliver the drug to a customer in Muang district. A subsequent search at his home in Chiang Mai's San Sai district yielded another 2,000 Yaba tablets along with guns and ammunition, hence officials were freezing his assets worth Bt3 million totally for investigation.

They froze Bt3 million of his assets but he said he was in financial difficulty??
