  1. Forget it -- I always wondered what I would do if the retirement extension requirements were to change drastically and this METV might be just fine as an alternative. Seems you could get 14 months out of it without going to Thai Immigration for extension of 60 day entries. Even if one wants to (or can) mail their passport back to their home country for processing via their family, they still have to settle down for a few weeks in a country that doesn't have an entry stamp so I don't see what is the big idea why you can't go home for a few weeks --

-- unless of course you're working and that is a whole 'nother kettle of fish.

How can u get 14 months out of METV?

Your last 60 day entry is one day before your ME one-year visa expires.

    I don"t see how that's 14 months.

The visa is only valid 6 months. So you get 6 months+ leaving on your last days 2months + 1 month extension.

    That's 9 months

  2. Bali is the only place that may offer a triple entry tourist visa

Again how can you affirm this?
Can you name a nearby location other than Bali that will easily do one for the next 2 days.

1/First thing: You call Jakarta and ask if they consider the date of application rather than date of deliverance of visa.

2/ You get on the earliest plane ; to medan /jakarta/denpasar/subaraya

  3. Bali is the only place that may offer a triple entry tourist visa

Thank you for answer. If I can not apply for triple entry in Laos, and it is not enough time to fly to Bali I will be also satisfied with two entry visa. It solves my problem only partialy but still better than drive there after Nov 13 to get only single entry.

Bali is 3.5 hours by Airsia

But you also have all the consulates / embassies in Indonesia : Jakarta, Medan and Surabya.

Use this link to get the latest requirements

  5. You see members posting that they decided to do it to end all of the hassle. They post it does what it says. This option is available to ANYONE so it is an easy option. If you are so committed to living here that you can not justify forking out a measly $15,000 maybe you are indeed the sort of person Thailand is trying to eliminate. I am not trying to be sanctimonious by any means but the thing people don't seem to realize is if you don't have an adequate amount of money or have it but claim to be unwilling to pay it Thailand no longer wants you. Get it?

Err... Actually there are posters who said they were quite cheesed off by elite visa.

No limo transfer as promised for one, another one also lost his passport, he was told to buy himself a visa run (sit in a smelly van for 2 days) to re-apply abroad. Not a happy chappy. So even 500K does not buy you the end of hassle.

  6. Maybe lassie cousin can organize an METV. Save flying back to farang world. Sadly though illegal

Nope - Her main focus are on Farangs, Indians etc in Pattaya that don't have the money for retirement (extension of stay) (800k) and they charge between 30-50k plus on top 3k for doing the 90 days reporting.

The METV visa is just the start of the whole clamp down.

Immigration Chief of Sakon Nakhon (great lady) will reach out once again this Sunday at our Amphur so hopefully I can know more details. She is currently in Bangkok where all immigration chiefs are meeting up in Bangkok from all over Thailand this week.

30-50k a year per head ! That's how you get yourself mansions.

Must remember to get a immigration officer BF...

  7. I think it is pretty obvious the Thai elite visa is there for anybody wishing to get a visa that doesn't have a retirement visa or a work permit. I used to think people were snobs who said this but seriously if you can't stump up the 500k to get the elite visa you really can't afford to be over here. They should get rid of the 20,000 limit for over staying and charge 500 a day with no limit at all. The elite visa is around 300 a day it is cheaper than that would be. If you can not afford 300 Baht a day then Thailand really doesn't need you and the argument about how much you bring into the economy is a moot point.

The EV is a good option for anyone that wants to marry a Thai from the bars in Pattaya, Nana or Cowboy so before they buy build a house, buy a car or a tractor for the family thy should get a 5y visa upfront which still permits them to stay after the marriage fails a year later (when the house is build) and the car is paid off. See it all the time, they build a houses, buy cars, bikes etc but on the end no money for a real retirement visa so they need to use the sharks (visa mills) in Pattaya to get their extension on retirement.

The cousin of my lassie runs one of the largest visa mills in Pattaya with close links to the police and immigration. The stamps and accessories are even at her office.

So allegedly, your lassie cousin will have his business closed by next year?

  8. Many digital nomads have moved to Cambodia where the Internet is faster and the visa issues are fewer. If you are coder, you may enjoy spending time in Saigon. Seems to be the best place for coding in Asia. Good luck with Thailand.

faster internet in cambodia? perhaps if you are living under a rock in deepest darkest rural issan, however internet in bangkok puts phnom penh to shamer

    Nothing further from the truth.

I have to reload this page 3 times to access server and I am in Bangkapi

You need to find a new ISP. I just did a speed test and got about 32 down and 5 up with true online (cable).

My ISP is 3BB (600B/month) is that no good?

  10. So without having to skim over every page in this thread again, where are we all now regarding this new visa? Any word from above yet ... I would like to know what is going on with it and what the requirements etc would be, chop chop and chim cim charoo

Depends if you want the official version or the non-official version, ... as usual !

  11. This will thin out many very questionable foreigners living and hiding here. It likely in the long term will improve things. Those who have a serious (REAL) relationship with a Thai woman that have not married it could hurt. That is a very small minority. I think its a great idea the only thing i question is the amount in a bank account for six months and the required hotel reservation. That is NUTS!

I think it will thin out the good people, who followed the rules, and got visas per the regulations. The "questionable" types don't bother with following rules - didn't before, won't now.

Or it will prove the good people who follow the rules, that there is no benefit from it, in this country. And they too will turn to illegality.

Very easy to get married and apply for a visa/extension of stay based on marriage.

Not everybody wants to get married, some may not believe in marriage or have been married before and don't fancy doing it again! It seems a bit extreme just to stay in an emerging/third world country...

Especially that divorce is apparently a PITA here.

  13. Thai visa service is talking about Laos.

And even Laos never stuck to any of its own announcement (20k for one)

Yes, and Laos is where the majority of people go to get their visas. My point is if Laos are playing by these rules, it's safe to assume the other embassies and consulates will too.

Yes we are doomed and scared, by this so clever law, and we will leave the country at once, since all consulates are refusing to grant us long term visas nearby.

***Packing as we speak and leaving everything behind***

  14. Still plenty of consulates hasn't updated their webpage yet. Well, it's plenty time left.

    like which ones?

    only 4 days left

Thai visa service has said on its website that after the 13th there will be no more double entries available. Also, you have to go to your home country to apply for a METV visa.

I think we can safely assume this is a done deal everywhere.
