  1. Guys, do you really believe that all these nationalities are present in such high numbers as residents in Indonesia that they have to make a list for them to apply solely in Jakarta?

    That would make no sense

Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Central African Republic, DR Congo, Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea, India, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Liberia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, São Tomé and Príncipe, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen

If you want a METV from Indonesia you need to have permanent residency regardless of which office you apply at. You can apply at the Embassy or Consulates unless you are from one of the listed countries in which case you can only apply in Jakarta.

yes and if you needed a double TR visa in Vientiane you had to show 20k but they never asked.

And if you needed a TRvisa in Bali you needed a return flight for each entry but they accepted single.

And if you need a TR visa in Indonesia you need to show hotel booking, but they accept rental contract.

Do you want me to go on to the loooooong list of requirements that differ from the actual reality in each Thai embassy?

  3. From their website

From 13 November 2015 onwards, applicants with permanent residence in Indonesia can apply for the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta,

Yes meaning Indonesians as opposed to the African countries list are able to apply anywhere.

Only the listed nationalities have to apply in Jakarta

Note as well that there is no mention of residency like the laotian requirements, in the list of things to provide

  4. You CAN apply in Indonesia as well

Most applicants are required to present 1 Visa Application form and 2 photograph, except nationals of the following countries who must apply at the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta only:

    - 3 application forms and 3 photographs: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Central African Republic, DR Congo, Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea, India, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Liberia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, São Tomé and Príncipe, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen

    Yayyyy!

All that says is that people from those Countries listed cannot apply at Thai consulates in Indonesia, ONLY the Embassy in Jakarta

    YES

Meaning that all the other nationalities can apply at all the other consulates.

    Including BALI !!!

  5. But why would they say that certain nationalities have to apply in Jakarta only?

Most applicants are required to present 1 Visa Application form and 2 photograph, except nationals of the following countries who must apply at the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta only:

    - 3 application forms and 3 photographs: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Central African Republic, DR Congo, Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea, India, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Liberia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, São Tomé and Príncipe, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen

    Yayyyy!

Mind you it does not say anywhere that they are getting rid of the 2&3 TR visa...

    Am I wishful thinking?

    rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

To think they just revamped the requirements for TR Visa...

Mr Vongbali are you reading this?

  10. Would anyone have have expected the METV to look like this when they first announced they were considering a 6 month multi entry tourist visa? I fear the rest of us are next on the Thai hit list.

Yeah to think everyone was rejoicing to the coming of METV... where are they now?

You were one of the first to predict where this was going.

And thank you for reminding it !

Although I would have preferred to be wrong...

  12. Teachers working illegally - go to the schools. Arrest, fine, deport etc. It would be so easy to catch them. Is this just an indirect way of kicking out teachers so you don't directly piss of school owners and parents, etc?

Yes it would be very easy to just arrest all illegal teachers... Do you think the police has not thought about it? Why do you think they don't do it?
