I'm glad the UN and our great PM has us at the top of the list to take them all. We're already paying up the ass in government tax, for more to come over and do nothing while the rest of us bust our asses to flip the bill.. Why can't the Thais take in one teen on children's day. I'm still waiting for the Them to show us all how great they really are. Number #1 I think not.

Maybe the PM should have helped a Saudi teen looking for asylum in his "great" country on children's day?
Thais are always looking to show the world how great they all are. Fake unless the cameras are rolling.....

Let's be honest here. A petty thief/shoplifter would have been caught in minutes (via cctv, witnesses, etc); however one of the highest profile people who's being monitored can slip through their fingers. It's not like she put on boots and made her way through the jungle. We're talking about someone who travels with a full entourage: security, assistants, people who are hired to carry her bags, nannies, etc. The list goes on....
It would be impossible to slip out of the country without somebody seeing. This is a country where it's impossible to walk to 7-11 without someone watching or saying something about you. And they can't find any of her assets, really? I think people should realize that when high profile people escape prison in Thailand, it's because they are allowed, or told to.
"We're not sure what country she's in, but we know she' went to Singapore"

Solved? what does that even mean in Thailand. Authorities couldn't find their way out of a paper bag.
"Here look; the evidence" as they wheel out murder weapons in a shopping cart.
Anything to keep the heard coming in. Most of the world doesn't even know about any of this as the Thai authorities do such a great job and their real work cloaking the country with smoke and mirrors.
I can't believe that they are even able to openly justify and get away with most of the conclusions they come up with which to a half wit, even seem absolutely absurd. Ie. A man found hog tied in a Jesus Christ pose to a water marker in the ocean with his throat slit, labeled suicide, just before he sent a text message to is wife (girlfriend) with all of his bank info and pass codes. And a country with the highest death toll in the world due to foreigners falling from balconies. Funny that it never seems to happen to a Thai?

Looks like a Chinese buffet?
I could go on and on with this article........

Here is a perfect example of a blueprint for the operation of a casino in Thailand...

Exactly this.
So many posters just like to piss and moan about anything the Thai Gov says, yet they seem to conveniently forget - they are in Thailands Play pen, play by their rules or bugger off.
What rules? I'd love to know how you get anything done or even stay here following the rules. Please enlighten me.....

I have a work permit. On it it says "Manager, Supervising Chef". I was arrested by undercover police for carrying a box of potatoes to the kitchen which he said is manual labor reserved for Thais.
It figures the cop didn't have something better to do. And for a job most would be to lazy to do.

Funny that their own people will go and work illegally in any country they can.
It's no wonder the Thai passport is very limited to the number of countries it can be used to enter......

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah blah, blah........
This country has been getting tough on an endless list of things. In the end they will keep on doing whatever they have to so that the foreigners keep on coming and staying in there less than satisfactory country. Without them the country wouldn't stay afloat. Unless they just want the cheap filthy Chinese that they so often complain about coming in and beating them at their own game. You need us to pay your corrupt government, police, island mafia's and the other 90% of the countries poor street workers you spit on everyday.
Complain and play the blame game when we're around, and then cry to the world when we're gone and you have no one to cheat and steal money from.

I wonder why farangs keep coming here? why won't they leave this country? There are so many farangs here that cause troubles.
You are so right. Your country would be so much better off if they never came at all.
You poor poor naive person. Obviously one of the many brainwashed victims.

Hmmmm .... having lived in a neighbouring Country for 25 years now and have popped in and out of Thailand on more than just a few occasions over the years, not to mention news reports and especially here at Thai Visa, there is no doubt in my mind that the Country has become more dangerous ... why have they got the Junka running the Country now ? Because they took over due to the amount of violence between parties ... and now maybe the streets are a little quieter on the surface, but secretive bombing raids have taken over ! Among the worlds worst accident rates ... robberies, rapes, fights, gangs beating up disabled people, not to mention the dreadful kick in the head that lady from the UK received during Song Kran last year in Hua Hin ... maybe it boils down to the excellent updated news service that Thaivisa now gives, either way, the general scene in Thailand can be pretty violent, which I didn't see many years ago !
I lived here for 12 years. I absolutely agree. Thailand has grown more violent each year. Especially over the last 5 years or so.

moan moan moan, but not leaving the place you slate so much!
the majority of tourist deaths involve alcohol, don't blame that... just the country.
the driving is bad for sure, Thai and burmese etc have the excuse that driving tests are not compulsory but the farangs don't and i see it everyday from all nationalities.
What. How many buses crash or overturn everyday? and I'm pretty sure driving tests are compulsory. I'm not moaning, I'm just saying it like it is. What; you can't handle the truth? enjoy your stay as long as you can. Too bad you'll never be a citizen.......

Driving in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam is far more dangerous. But driving is Thailand is quite dangerous without any doubt. In terms of violent crimes Thailand much safer than US for sure.
No it's not. Look at the stats. Thailand is number 1-2 on the list. Next to countries no ones heard of.

Agreed the report is based on outdated information. Thailand is now in the top 5 most dangerous countries in the world, and climbing...
All they have is outdated information to go by. All of the current and up to date data is buried or censored.

What a bunch of #$%t. Thailand is one of the most dangerous countries to visit. It's at the top of the list for most dangerous when it comes to motor-vehicle safety. So considering a huge % of tourists have to use this mode of transportation already trumps most other countries. Everyday a bus overturns or crashes killing 10-30 people.
The ranking would be even higher if sources were able to gather all information. Updated information is hard to come by as Thai authorities censor and cover up the real real data/information saving there faces to draw people to the country by any means necessary. And of course the authorities come out to challenge the news. Who are the biggest criminals in the country. I think we all know. Imagine what the countries real rankings would be in all areas if the rest of the world could see the whole truth. It's good that the modern age of technology is making it more and more difficult for the Thai government to bury the enormous amount of baggage thy carry.
The days of face are slowly drawing to an end my friends........

Almost every one of my Thai friends back in the UK has taken and passed the driving test there.
They all said it was not easy but it shows what they and indeed anyone is capable of when they want to.
They also must have stated that the actual practice of driving is much easier now, that they are in the UK?

I imagine this new system of obtaining a driving certificate will work the same way it does for obtaining a medical certificate for your licence (actually I don't imagine). That's exactly how it's going to work.
Not that the current system in place is any better......
Anyone on this site who thinks this is a better method or claims that accidents happen in every other country, when comparing Thailand is completely delusional. Thailand has the highest rate of motor vehicle accidents/deaths on the planet. And for those that say it's second to a country know one has even heard of, are the same delusional individuals. It's the same old story in this country, find a way to make the Thai peoples lives even easier, and an other way to pass the blame somewhere else down the line.
I wonder what kind of payout the ministry is receiving from these so called "driving" schools. I suppose the instructors of these schools receive their licences in the same manner, and then jump into their cars or mini vans smelling of alcohol and tabacco.
The hub of safe driving.....
What they should really do is to scrap the whole thing; just give you your licence and make you sign a waiver.
Wait for it......

The Canadian Government should be able to do something?

Says nothing about the child being allowed to be out of sight for hours. The article says the child was playing, became missing and was found hours later. A big difference.
Allowing a four year old to be out of your sight for hours constitutes fault.Kids will be kids and will always do what kids do, tragically at times, such mischievous acts leads
to tragedy with no one at fault as in this case......
A question would be, what was done during the hours of the search for the child?
Until that question has been answered by the police investigators or witnesses, it's no need to act like an immoral preteen. Keep your careless thoughts to yourself, and the same goes to so many others that seems to do nothing else here on TV than wildly speculating like it's some sort of a daily religious ceremonial fix. Show some maturity.
For a child to go missing they would have to be out of the sight of the caregiver, NO?
