  1. What about restaurants? Do I have to venture out to thonglor to get a decent bite or is there anything in the area? Srinakarin / Pattanakarn seems to be still affordable, but with the BTS extension in the upcoming years, the prices will (hopefully) rise.

I have one property in mind which I'd personally like to live in and hopefully sell in a few years for a profit but this being Thailand, I am not counting on making a profit, hence I am looking for suggestions on what to expect when living in the area.

  2. Thinking about buying some property there and after driving down the area a few times, I still can't get the grip on it.

It's way more residential than downtown bangkok, very few foreigners from what I can see and no 'fancy' restaurants.

What are some places to go to in Srinakarin like cinemas, restaurants, gyms, nightlife and so on?

  3. And how about us with permanent residency. We require a re-entry permit in both passport and PR book. We too can sometimes need to leave Thailand in an emergency. Can immigrationat the airports help us too? I ask because every year I have huge problems at the local Immi office as most Officers do not understand what is needed, and do not have the correct stamps. After numerous phone calls and some 4 hours later I usually have a stamp of sorts.

How can your PR expire if you leave the country? The revoke PR if you don't have a re-entry permit? blink.png

PR is effectively an extension of stay that gives indefinite leave to stay. It is not permanent and can be revoked, and like any extension of stay it would end if leaving the country without a re-entry permit.

It is not Permanent but called Permanent ? TIT I guess.. rolleyes.gif

  5. So according to your post you are an english teacher and everything seems cheap to you? cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

How's that BTS ticket and the studio apartment working out so far?

You got a bottom of the barrel job in Thailand and of course Thai people will talk behind your back about it.

I would too - just not behind your back - you're a loser. Period.

Most 'bottom of the barrel' English teaching posts pay (30k) twice as much as a Thai person with a degree gets (15k).

It's the still the bottom of the barrel job for a foreigner in Thailand.

Of course selling fake shares is even lower, be we are talking about legal jobs here..

  7. Can the OP get a job teaching in Vietnam or Cambodia and marry his Thai fiance' and living together in their new country for a year+. Better pay in Vietnam for sure.

A recent Vietnam teaching job on Fb said teachers needed start pay US $1,500 month.

$1,500 sounds like someone hit the jackpot - what does an english teacher earn in Thailand if $1,500 is considered 'great' ?

  8. Ban Chalita near BKK hospital, don't know what it costs to rent but good location for a house.

Thanks but doesn't look very secure from what I can see.

I like the fact that Silk Road or Palm Oasis got a wall around it and one entry/exit. Makes me feel better when leaving the house for months at times.

Some other villages just have the gate open all the time and strangers can come and go as they please - thats not what I am looking for. I want to know my belongings are save while I am out of Pattaya.

  9. How about Siam Royal View, prices there are a bit more realistic these days.

Lots of crime there and that location generally. Also, did they ever finish the place...there was allot turmoil with the developer as I recall. Do you have a house to flog there or something?

True about the crime. Isn't their a biker hangout on that soi too?

    Any other recommendations?

  10. Thanks - do you have a link to it? Google brings up mixed results.

    Here

Thank you. Do you have an idea about the prices?

I think last time I checked there where about 80,000/month.

Silk Road goes for half of that on some houses.

I think you could get a 2 bed for 50,000 a month, possibly 40,000 as it's low season.

I can't find anything below 75,000 so far. Might have to go to the village and ask the management. All agents list the houses for 75k and up.

  11. Hi,

What is the latest on a decent village for a house in Pattaya?

In terms of security and neighbors I am looking for something like Silk Road but closer to the centre. Quiet, clean, no drunken foreigners / loud music till midnight and such things.

Was looking at Palm Oasis but the 2 bedroom houses feel quite cramped and they seem to rent out one of the Villas for holidays, which makes it less desirable.

Any suggestion are welcome between Chayapruek and the Bangkok Hospital.

I don't really want to live much further out on either end of Pattaya.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

  12. Lived there in Northpoint for many years and loved it. Nice 3br unit, beachfront and was give or take 100,000 baht/month.

Buying a unit there would have been 25m and up I think. I highly doubt they went down in price over the years.

Overall I am glad I didn't buy as the building suddenly felt like the 'russian embassy' and we were somewhat happy to move out.

The Russians are mostly gone now and prices have dropped a little I think you will find. I have a 3 bed 132 sqm. on a high floor you can have for 21.9 million with a long term tenant paying 90k a month.

Doesn't happen to be on the 36th or 38th floor? ;)

  13. As condos spring up pretty much everywhere, so do some small villages all the time.

Does anyone know of any almost completed, or completed but not sold out villages in those areas?

Looking for something similar like Sethasiri @Rama9 in the 4-5m baht range to buy.

Noble cube pattanakarn seems to be sold out and theres nothing for sale from what I can see.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
