  1. Hey,

For years I have weekly transactions coming from overseas on an almost weekly basis to my K-bank account.

Due to some smart investments the amounts have gone up to a bit over 1m baht. Some times more, sometimes less.

Now every week when a transaction comes in someone from their staff calls me to 'verify' me?!

    The call is like this..

    Kbank: Are you mister xyz

    Me: yes

Kbank: We have a transfer from company xyz for x amount for you

    Me: yes

Kbank: What you plan to do with the money?

Me: spend it in thailand, thats why i send it here

    Kbank: do you live here?

    Me: yes

    Kbank: Ok thank you

Then it takes another 2-3 hours to get the amount credited to my account. Is that some new procedure or do they don't even want our money anymore?

  2. Similar experience with Non-O based on marriage in December 2015. Didn't extend my 60 day extension and was held for at least 10 minutes by the I/O while she flicked through my passport. She was totally confused why I didn't get an extension and I tried to explain her that I need to cancel the visa to get another one so I have to enter on the 30 day stamp.

I called the thai elite visa afterwards, asking them to provide a letter for me that I will re-enter the country without extending my current visa, so I can obtain the elite visa. Needles to say I was biting on granite..

Unless you know someone who can provide an airport walkthrough for you, you are taking a gamble...

  3. While we are at it, is there any place to buy recent vinyls (house, techno) somewhere in Bangkok?

Kinda miss the old vinyl shops we had back in europe where you'd spent half a day listening to new releases and buying a few on your way out.

Does anything like this exist here, or is everyone with a Macbook and an automixer a DJ now and the real DJ culture is non existant in bangkok?

  4. I for one am glad to hear there are techno events going on, being heavily into sound systems and DJing back in the UK in the 90s I miss it massively.

Moving to BKK in a couple of months, in fact very close to Dark Bar (which I was looking forward to checking out), so perhaps see some of you there or on a Thursday at Glow!

In terms of preferred techno flavour, for me as a few examples Neil Landstrumm, Green Velvet, Woody Mcbride, Paul Birken, DJ Hyperactive are right up my alley.

Wish I'd bought my 1210s out - might do so one day.

Technics 1210's are about to hit the market again in a revamped version.

  5. Hey,

I got a non O stamp based on thai wife from CW in Bangkok which is valid for 60 days. Once the 60 days where almost up I went to CW again, showed the 400k in the bank (letter from the bank), brought my wife, filled out a few forms and got another 12 months extension of stay based on thai wife.

Now I have to do 90 day reports. If I do my 90 day report a few days late, it won't count as overstay correct?

Once the 12 months are up and I will fly out 2-3 days after the extension of stay period is up - am I automatically banned or is there any form of grace period?

  6. The only way to quit is going cold turkey in my opinion. Smoked from 15-22 (7 years) and from 25-30 (5) years, so a total of 12 years combined. Patches, Hypnosis etc.. all a big waste of money. Tried them all but they are just excuses to feel sorry for yourself. 'Oh I tried this and that but nothing helps' - nothing will help besides your own will power!

It takes a lot of will power and it's never the right time to quit smoking as you will have 200 excuses why not too.

I quit in one of the worst periods of my life and I am glad I did. If I can do it, everyone can do it. I got much bigger issues with painkillers or other meds the doc prescribed me in the past but thats a whole different beast. Nicotine is the worst drug there is - it doesn't even get you high, just 5 mins of 'me time' in the best case scenario.

  7. Hey,

I know its sort of a stupid question but are the roads in hua hin comparable to those in pattaya or bangkok?

A pothole here and there but you dont need a fortuner to get to big c?

Is it feasible to drive a sports car through Hua Hin without ripping off the bumper every week?

As you can tell we haven't been to Hua Hin yet but we keep thinking about moving there and checking it out this weekend.

Just asking about the general road conditions as i love to drive my car and would hate to have roads that require a truck to get around town.

    Thanks
