  1. Mutmee good value

Disagree with the "fight" comment you will find dills wherever you go, have had a sociable ale in both of these establishments and never a cross word was heard.

Steves is good for an ale & good tucker as well, next door (forget the name) good snooker table "Eagle" probably good now that "Thunder" bless his soul has moved out to the farm.

Everyone to their own there are a few scandanavian owned establishments across from Robinsons once again nice to have an ale and enjoy the cosmipolitan atmosphere.

    Mijan24 :o

The so called dills are the bar owners. If what I saw were to have happened in a European country they would have done time. Here you can pay the police and get away with fighting.

  2. I would have said Udon and Nong Khai were too laid back for much fighting. :o

Your correct about the fighting in Udon. If anyone says there has been no fighting they must leed a sheltered life here. I would stay away from the bars that MetalMicky has mentioned. Please beleive me I have seen and witnessed the uncalled for fighting. Go to Knog Khai. Try The River Veiw (Brendans Bar) for a nice stake. The Outback bar is closed

  3. I think your wise option is to call Thai Air and ask them. There should be no problem getting a 30 day stamp at BKK if you make it there because they almost never ask to see onward tickets; your potential problem is at Heathrow.

Flying fromt the US on Northwest, I was told clearly at the gate if I didn't have a visa, or couldn't show an onward ticket out of Thailand within 30 days, they would indeed refuse boarding. I was also told you can get lucky and get an overworked or badly trained agent.

You might have to buy a e-ticket to Penang that you do not intend to use in order to board. Or, if you have time, get a tourist visa.

I had this problem in September of last year when I was due to come back here. I phoned BA and explained to them that I had only a 'one way' ticket. They told me to by the most expensive return ticket from them £1050. By doing this you can cancell the ticket at a minutes notice. I did as they told me and when I got to BKK i phoned and cancelled the ticket and all the money was paid back into my visa card account.

  4. yes it's a pain in the butt when that happens. Some programs automatically detect your default language settings (in control panel) - even if you appear to be in English it's likely that the default is Thai if you or anyone ever do any work in Thai on the com. So sometimes one way is to go to control panel and change the default to English - then the program installing will auto detect this and set you up in English. You can then change back to Thai default if you need without affecting the program you just installed (Power DVD works like that)

Other programs are actual thai editions (I think Nero is) and will default to Thai every time. They allow changing to English but you will have to navigate the menus in Thai to find the option. Get a Thai person to help you or else look at where the language option is in an English version.

In my version of Nero it is in FILE (1st tab at top) PREFERENCES (7th option down) Languages (3rd tab) - if yours is the same you should there find an english option. Otherwise go to IT Bang Kae and buy some program discs. Or join our Thai Expat hub and get it there (and then go to the website and buy a key for it of course :o )

  5. I'm trying to load Nero Express 5.5.9.9 INcD3.39.0 on windows XP. I bought this last year when I had window 98. When I load this I get everything in Thai. Is there anyway I can load this in English? Please keep it simple as I'm a newby with the PC.

I would be grateful for any help. Thanks.

  6. I've heard two conflicting cases of this scenario.

In one, the visa holder was granted a further 90 days a few days before the expiry of the validity of said visa - Chong Chom.

In the other, the visa holder was granted only 3 days (until the end of his visa validity) - Aranyapratet.

So I guess the answer is "there is no answer".

Can only assume on the 3 day entry but it would appear he may not have been allowed normal entry and given 3 days to leave the country rather than allowed visa entry. Are we sure he was not on a extension of stay perhaps and in that case would have only been given entry until his re entry permit date? Indo-Siam replay is correct so this had to have very extenuating circumstances.

  7. I'm 57 years of age, British and have a 90 day 'O' Visa.

I now want to apply for a 1 year marraige Visa.

    A. What documents must I take along to the immigration with me? ( I have

    letter from the Embassy).

Please list all the document I will require.

B We have a joint account with a good bit more than the required amount of

    400,000 Baht.

    C. Must this amount be in my own name or will the joint account be accepted?

    D. When I apply can I apply at any immigration office or does it have to be the

    nearest to me?

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Do as jayenram suggest and I would also consider installing a Safe-T-Cut to provide added protection to the whole house at a cost of only 2,000 baht or so.

You can use one of the nuts holding the pump to tank to attach the ground or there may be a spot already designed to attach the ground wire inside the top cover area if of the type used in cities to increase

Thanks for all your advice I will do as you say.

  9. My Thai sister inlaw has an electric water pump which comes on on demand.

This pump is situated about 10 metres from the house where there is no Safety cut fitted. I see a length of thin wire leading from the main to the pump. I would like some one to tell me if this should be earthed and where to fit the earth wire on the pump if requiered.

  10. Personally, I've 'lost' one package in twenty years...

I have only temporarily lost one in 12 years.

That was a letter on my 30th birthday. My Aunt sent me $100, why I don't know as she is in the UK and TIT(no US dollars). I neever got the letter and gave it up for lost as sending cash in an envelope is not wise. On my 31st birthday, guess what came through the post? That letter from my Aunt!

I still don't understand it. And it wasn't a new letter, postmark 1 year old!

I used to send my GF, (Now my Wife) what money I had left when I returned to Scotland. It wasn't a lot but everytime I sent the money she didn't get the full amount which I had put in the envelope. If I had sent 3000 Baht she would get 1500 Baht, I did this about 3 times. We found out that it was the post woman in our next village who was into all the mail. We never found out what happened to her though. Thai ********

  11. I'd be a little suspect about any guy calling himself "billyboy."  :o

Surely some of you "advisors" have been the the Philippines.

I have an easy solution on how to make a small fortune in Thailand! (Answere). Come to Thailand with a big fortune. Theire national Anthem is the easiest in the world to remember, It goes like this: Baht Baht Baht BAht BAHT Baht Baht Baht and never stops. :D
