Sure. Can you explain why recent immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean outperform African Americans? And why discriminating against Asian immigrants and their children is a rational and fair solution to the problem.

Well, that explains your reasoning - you should go better into Comedy, Mel Brooks is a good model to follow if the 200-year old man is your schtick.

Your response to my explanation that the problems that underlie the African-American community are the product of two hundred plus years of discrimination and systemic racism was to identify new people from abroad who haven't been disadvantaged in this way and asking why they're doing so well despite sharing similar genetic characteristics. Thanks for clearly proving my point.

You might consider catching up on the latest research and understanding that's come out since the quill and inkwell lost their predominant place in the writing world.

The court struck down something the President was trying to do illegally, not something Congress had passed into law.

I'm surprised you didn't know that.

The court struck down the use of an existing Act passed by Congress covering "emergencies" as the basis for his Executive Action on student loans. It is likely the Biden administration will try to use other legislation as the basis for their intended actions.

Wow, no facts provided, juet a link to an opinion piece, I'm shocked.

It's one of those things "...that's widely understood to be true." by the left.

Again, as the poor do not pay income taxes, by definition, tax cuts only benefit taxpayers, and as the rich pay a disproportionate amount of all taxes, usually the rich disproportionately benefit from tax cuts.

I'm surprised you didn't know that.

In any evert, the topic is whether it's fair for the President to use taxpayer money to selectivly pay off student loans. The court has already determined it was not legal. I do not think it's fair, but we all know fairness does not matter.

No fact provided? Did you click on the links? The first one is the opinion piece that is pro-Trump and contains pretty much nothing but opinion without factual verification - it's the one supporting your side, not mine. . The second one, called "Distributional Analysis of the Conference Agreement for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" contains hardly any opinion at all. It has pretty much nothing but facts and estimates of the tax changes resulting from the act.

This is why it's so tedious to "debate" with the Right - you are completely comfortable with blatantly lying in response to a reasonable post in order to characterize it as the opposite of what it is.

    As to your points:

"The poor do not pay income taxes" - that's not true unless you're going to get sophist about "income". With the various taxes applied at state and federal level, the poorest pay around 11-12% in tax. https://www.taxpolicycenter.org/briefing-book/how-does-federal-tax-system-affect-low-income-households

"The rich pay a disproportionate amount of all taxes" - that's true, it's called "progressive taxation" and is a widely accepted principle used in pretty much every liberal democracy in the USA and Europe, with Estonia being the only exception I'm aware of (they apply a flat tax).

The legal question was not whether it is legal for the President to use money to selectively pay off student loans, it was about the Act he used as the basis for the cancellation and whether that specific act (used for "emergencies") would apply to the student loan repayment issue. There will be another attempt using other legislation to find other ways. But this was never the legal question that was ruled on.

Yes, because the only way to eliminate racism is to be racist...

Anyway, interestingly a large percentage of black students at Harvard aren't even ADOS (American Descendants of Slavery). They are immigrants from the Caribbean or Africa, who have only been in the US for a generation or two. Hardly the victims of generations of American racism.

    https://thegrio.com/2011/04/21/harvard-has-more-black-students-than-ever-but-are-they-african-american/

Yes, because everyone knows that victimization of black people ended immediately and completely once slavery was abolished. Did you just wake up from a 200 year coma?

If going to forgive loans, it has to be everyone's, not just one type.  Not just borrowers either, or one sector of customers.

If giving $$$ away, you need to give it to everyone, who paid taxes, as it's their money.

This is the most laughable argument ever. You're basically saying "the government should not be able to pass any laws that result in benefits to anyone unless EVERYONE receives similar benefits". This basically means the government cannot pass any laws affecting the budget. I argued previously about how this would ALSO invalidate the Trump tax cuts (which were substantially larger) and provided the evidence. Have you any rebuttal to that?

Do you have any facts that support your claim about the 1.9 - 2.3 trillion dollar tax cut that disproportionately went to the wealthiest Americans and corporations?

I understand how complex this must sound, but tax cuts by definition disproportionately benefit taxpayers. Tax recipients, such as welfare recipients and people reneging/wanting to renege on their student loans generally do not benefit from tax cuts.

To be clear, tax cuts only let the people that actually fund welfare and the student loan keep a little more of their money.

If you want to look at the article that the pro-Trump guy used to "make his case", this is the link:

    https://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/distributional-analysis-conference-agreement-tax-cuts-and-jobs-act/full

It's pretty clear. Surprised you challenged something that's widely understood to be true.

And even more the average normal Americans, who are usually nice and helpful and all of them would be better presidents than these two....I can't think of any American I ever met who could be worse than one of these two.

Then you don't get out much or understand anything about what government is or does. What a nonsensical statement! Just look in a mirror.

LOL! How did you manage to get to Thailand, were you given a special visa for being a dissident? Why aren't you organizing a resistance to the guv'ment that's taken away your rights? Instead you run to Thailand where there are all these OTHER brown people around to threaten your very existence? You seem to be lacking logic.

As is usually the rule, if you have to make things up, attack the person, etc., it indicates you cannot form a valid argument.  This appears to be true for you here.

He neither made things up nor "attacked" the person - he pointed out that the person's posting history clearly shows a bias towards the unelected military government. That is relevant in the context of this discussion.

Go research people. Pita just revealed his coming policies in Thai interview - casinos, legalising n taxing prostitution, abolishing lese majestic n legalising more drugs and more LGBTQ rules just like USA (his dream country) seems like destroying everything in the present Thai society .. build back better ????

Go see who Pita and his group are …and who you are supporting -  it could be a case of out of the frying pan into the fire …

You mean the guys who overwhelmingly were chosen by people in an election where the incumbent had all the advantages and are still trying to invalidate the result? The people saw who he was, and saw very clearly who the other people who stole power the last 8 years and are still trying to do so are and chose. That's democracy. You don't seem to like it. No wonder, your views reveal that you're similarly Mesozoic in your opinion. By the way, you're aware that it was the incumbent government who legalized the drugs, right?

You're an old man shaking his fist and yelling at the kids to get off his lawn.

I don't know if you have been here during Thaksin but it was by far the worst.....I recall when he wanted to take over the sky train and as they didn't want to sale he ranted in TV that he'll buy a subway direct under them with the station next to it to bankrupt them. Or the contract with cleaning the new airport, paid in advance for many years. (On the other hand he was the only one who could finish the airport....beside being the most corrupt he was also the most efficient premier)

So you agree? You're all over the place. What was the "worst"? The corruption? Are you sure? Corruption tends not to provide receipts. Do you think the Army opens their books so you can compare the two?

It will be interesting to see how hard the new government led by Pita goes after the outgoing government for their crimes. No better way to prevent future coups than to lock up the perpetrators of the last coup.

Exactly! And it has happened exactly zero times, hence there have ALWAYS been future coups.

If you think the new government is going to "go after" the outgoing government you have exactly zero understanding of Thai politics.

Peasant food is the sort of food people like you eat at home.....simple, cheap, unpleasant and tasteless. As for spelling city names, the only correct spelling would be written in Khmer script.

People like me? Oh, do tell! What am I like? Why would you assume I like simple, cheap, unpleasant and tasteless food? I mean, I moved to Southeast Asia, not exactly the hub of glop.

Actually, why would you think that the food of the peasants is that way at all? The "peasants" would be the people of the North, Northeast and rural areas in the Central and South. Their food would almost never be described as "tasteless", most would say it's extremely spicy. I enjoy it immensely.

Oh, and you're a bit of a purist when it comes to spelling, preferring to use only the native script or, when you deign to discuss things with "peasants", your own transliteration which I guess must be "above" the likes of us. What an interesting fellow you must be, to be so far above us yet an admirer of the Scouse.

Most meals in Cambodia are peasant food. Sometimes, Siem Reap not bad, and I went to a new sushi restaurant in Pnom Pen, but the waitress had decayed front teeth! Some ok French restaurants in Vientiane and even Leffe beer.

Really? I guess you have to tell us what you describe as "peasant food", because Phnom Penh is pretty similar to any major city in Asia in that there's quite a wide range of different restaurants and it's really up to you as to what you like to eat. Your inability to spell the city name doesn't speak well of your standing in terms of knowledge. Vientiane is a great city for food, you won't find better value in the region. Superb French, excellent Italian, and at ridiculously low prices. Easiest city to get around in the region too.

For me though, the most interesting part is what alcohol was he buying for 70 baht.

I still wanna know if he just didn't want to pay full price or if he was getting the farang price.

Thai beer isn't that much in those shops. Was it Lao Kao?

LOL. Moved on to deflection and avoidance now, have we? Predictable for your sort.

Tell us again about how the Finn was minding his own business and got attacked. Let's keep to the topic shall we?
