  1. Those individuals, groups, parties who boycotted the 2 Feb 2014 election has no legal right to petition for the invalidation of election results.

The election was called, planned nationwide according to the 2007 constitution election law that was amended by DEM led government.

Had anyone petitioned to the court that the election was unconstitutional before the election?

Anyone should have the legal right to petition for the invalidation of the election results if they have good reason to show that it was unconstitutional.

    1. The constitutionality of the election is not in question. CC even said the election can be postponed if EC and the Government agreed to postpone it.

    2. EC can red card or yellow card a candidate based on the evidence given by involved voter/s and after investigation.

    3. The DEM has no right because they boycotted the GE and should be seen as an attempt to sabotage it.

    4. More than 50 political parties participated in the GE.

    5. 89.2 of the constituencies participated.

Of course, the DEM who boycotted the GE can try petitioning to invalidate election results. However, it should be highlighted and question why

    1. Only the DEM dominated constituencies were afected?

    2. Had the DEM voiced their disapproval when registration centres and polling stations were blocked by thugs?

These are at least, circumstantial evidence that the DEM is trying to sabotage the election. If found guilty is liable of party being dissolved and its executive could also face a maximum 10 years jail sentence.

Of course, the DEM is always depending on its grandfather/father court/independence agencies for goodies. Their parents had spoiled them and they never grow up.

    Never grow up?

They know what box to put their votes in!!!

  3. Very sad.

I hope that Suthep will be held responsible for bringing his dirty thugs to Bangkok to terrorize the people who just want democracy.

Send Suthep to share a prison cell for the rest of his life together with his "educated" criminals.

  4. As of now, she said, the overall situation is under control, while a new election date will be later set for poll stations which could not be opened today.

I wonder, how many more new election dates will be set?

The message is not sinking in this government thick heads.

How about you look at the Thai statement. The translation is incorrect, much as it was for Abhisit's Unconstitutional statement.

Her statement was in respect to alternative dates for participation in THIS election, not a new election date.

There seems to be some debate over whether all the voting has to take place at once which might need a new election..

All a bit confusing right now.

Apparently the royal decree sought from the Palace states that elections will be completed in a day

  5. The caretaker government's first job once the anti government crowds have returned home will be dealing with the irate rice farmers

  6. Looks like Suthep and his lackeys failed to stop democracy!

Democracy???? You can only vote for the government or Chuvit at this election....Welcome in the democracy East Germany style.

As you well know there are multiple parties registered for this election. There is even an option for a "No" vote so stop spreading misinformation

    Really? In all constituencies?

    Methinks you are wrong

And being worth one vote like all the rest thats earth shatteringly important is it ? I hate these photo ops when politicians go vote... like its so bloody important they do over the rest of the nation. coffee1.gif

As a self confessed denizen of democracy, it is indeed important that the PM is shown screwing up the vote that she invested so much blood in

  8. IMO. election (democracy) is one of the four pillars to fight corruption. The other is the progress and well being of the people. A judiciary free of politics. and a compassionate society.

Law or more laws is not the answer. Laws are made for those who are law abiding not the law breakers. Criminals are always ahead of the law. it only helps to prosecute and sentence. It is never a deterrent.

Education is not the solution either. Corrupt people are usually highly educated. Educating people on corruption only helps to understand what is and the consequence of corruption and in fact IMO increase corrupt practices.

I write this in context of the activity trying to block and nullify election and its result. People must be allowed to choose using their votes though democracy is not the only answer to all problems.

As democracy progress together with the progress on the well being (livelihoods) of the people, it becomes harder to encourage corruption. When we observe closely, people who are trying to avoid the people's right to elect are those who are corrupt. They are afraid of the people's mandate.

The 4 pillars of democracy - Justice, Equity, freedoms, representative.

I think the PTP version has 4 horses with Thaksin astride the frontmost tossing the hearts of the rice farmers for his hounds to chew

I was talking about fighting corruption not the 4 pillars of democracy.

You can vote PTP out - what is the problem?

When there are no mechanisms for dealing with cheating in the house, democracy feeds corruption absolutely as we saw in late 2013

Progress and well-being - so the sick are a bunch of cheats and the eminently healthy Thaksin is to be beatified for his purity?

  9. I seriously doubt the red shirts could muster 500,000 in the whole country - let alone Chiang Mai.

The way the rice farmers have been hung out to dry and the size of the recent red rallies would clearly indicate this.

I would be surprised if much more than 30% of the electorate turns out to vote in this shambles of a thing.

I also doubt that PTP will get much more than half the votes they had in 2011

And I doubt that Yingluck will be true to her word and resign.
