  1. I bit the bullet and came the other way (to Thailand) in May. Yes it was a faff and the goalposts got moved on quarantine from 7 to 14 days mid application but I had made my mind up so pressed on. No point in speculating what the rules might be. If you have decided then you have made the correct decision. I treated myself to a Q Suite on one leg and it was the nuts! Good luck
  2. Just to report back. Second STV extension done today following continuation of the scheme. You can do it early, at least in Chiang Mai. Original expiry date was 24th November, now in until 22nd February. Happy days.
  3. I applied for my STV back in April from London. One way ticket only.
  4. It has been extended and it will be available. The London Embassy website may be a bit behind the times. If it is not an option on the e visa site either wait a bit or a phone call to nudge them might help.
  5. Visa applications have been done on line for about a year. You only need a laptop to apply for most visas.
  6. Fair point. First extension was done 45 days beforehand. Will try next week anyway and report back.
  7. Yes, It will by my second extension. Current permission is until 24th November so next week will be less than 45 days before expiry. Hopefully getting it done before they change their mind!
  8. More than one place to get them in Chiang Mai. Surprised if not others around the country
  9. Have been with a few mates here in Chiang Mai to get these 'passports' Just said 'travelling later' Having said that I have heard the booklets here are in short supply and they are only being issued to people who plan to travel soon.
  10. Good news. I am yet to see a report of anyone getting a STV 'ordinary' extension after 30 Sept. following the scheme being continued. I am going to immigration for this next week. Will report back.
  11. Thanks guys. Neat and precise. All questions answered. Please feel free to close topic if you like.
  12. Apologies if I get the terms wrong, asking on behalf of a mate. He has a Non imm O 'work based' and is switching to marriage based with the requirement for 400k in the bank. 1. Is it 2 or 3 months that the money needs to be in the bank before application. 2. Does the money need to come from overseas? 3. When can the money be withdrawn? Thanks
  13. I am British. No background check but this was for the 'original' STV back in April. Not sure if the new one is any different. From memory I provided a one way flight, lease agreement, insurance, ASQ booking and a bank statement. All this is at the visa application stage, it could not wait until COE stage.
  14. I paid about £700 for 9 months cover including the 400,/40 requirement for STV and 100k USD covid including asymptomatic. I am 54 and British. AXA Thailand
  15. That is exactly the same requirement for an ordinary tourist visa and visa exempt entry. Not sure but it may apply to all new visas. 100,000 usd. Nothing different. Where the STV insurance differs is the need to have 400/40k Baht coverage sames as O/A. At least this was the case when I got mine in April
  16. I am on a STV. Proof of accommodation can be obtained via a booking that can be cancelled. Insurance is a bit more expensive but no big deal. You know when you sign up that it cannot be converted. For those who wish to spend 9 months here without commiting to a long term visa it works. Not for everyone obviously
  17. Hopefully this will apply to existing visas. The agent I use has always been hopeful that I will get my second extension after 30 Sept. Guess I will find out in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed. At least have the Covid extension to fall back on
