It has been 20 yrs. since my last visit to the islands. Wanna give it another try with a good friend. A fun day of snorkeling, swimming etc.

Could anybody make a recommendation as there are so many tour companies. Can also be a larger yacht, we are not in a hurry. THX. to everybody. PF.

Following advise on a prior post, I tried a Seafood Pizza @ Pizza Hut 1 / Soi Sansabai. Very disappointed. Tasteless, full of semi-raw onions and unpeeled/ half-cooked tomato-wedges and burned (bitter) to really kill the deal. Because staff were very friendly I did not complain. But will not go back for sure.

Any hints where to try next? Italian or US-style ok. Bangla area please.

Also looking for some good US BBQ ribs with fries and coleslaw?

The best place I have seen a "quality" souvenir shop is in The Gem Store on Pattaya Nua - this is billed as the world biggest Gem store. There are 2 but the one nearest Sukh is the one I mean.

You can ride on the little train through the history of gems, look at the manufacturing process of jewels, have a browse around the Gem store and not have to buy anything. But as you get to the exit end, they have a large souvenir shop. The prices compare ( I think ) with the "crap tat" you get on Beach road. The Gem store has items I have not seen in the usual shops.

Free tea or coffee on the way out as well.

BTW - I am not a fan of tourist tat....how many hard wood trees are cut down to make wooden frogs and elephants to gather dust in a former Soviet block apartment / shack.

I find it easy to get a cheap haircut but hard to find a good haircut.

Does anybody know of a (preferably nice and amicable) foreigner running a dog training school or such. Would love to donate some of my time to help out. I am an experienced dog "lover" and have trained many German Shepherds in younger years. I am fit and available for anything dog related at anytime. Already taking care of many of my 4-legged friends around Pattaya. Thanks for any advice. As I live in a condo I can't have my own dog and really regret this very much. THX. PF.

Watched 3 going down below Soi 13 early afternoon already. 1 disinterested City cop and 2 slimy Indian "helpers/mediators" in the middle. A group of Indians were first victims. Overheard numbers of 30'000 Baht. Was able to warn off a group of young US travellers, who had no clue what was going on. This will never stop. What a shame.

Go back. Show some attitude and don't even talk to the front-desk staff, but demand to talk to the manager. This helped last time I had the exact same problem. They showed next morning. Good luck. PF.

I would chain these people in a public place and flog them. Then I would tattoo 'criminal' on their foreheads for all to see and carry that shame for the rest of their days. Let people spit upon them. All animals have a right to life and have no way to defend themselves against the greed and superstitions of humans. I cannot express the anger enough.

Well they don't have that many options the road was build many years ago and whom would have expected that it turned into a major holiday resort.

The empty land you see here and there on Beach Road are prime beach front land and is worth 10's mill bath pr rai so don't expect that a parking lot will be made there.

What do you mean with 'Thai culture' ? If already there is such as 'Thai culture' the Thais themselves are the least who show any respect for there 'culture'. Supposed you mean their way of life 100 years ago. In my opinion the degenerated 'Thai culture' (fake smiles, fake showing of respect etc.) is not really something that calls for showing respect. And why respect them if they don't respect you ? But, apart from this, this kind of tourists indeed are brainless crap and behave like crap, wherever they go. I hate them.
