  1. First option I would try is talk directly to immigration and see if they can allow 800k split into two accounts to be used immediate (as the total has met the 2 month rule). They might allow it. I would not use any 'fixer' and such use could come back to bite at a later time (it is you who will be responsible of any false information/documents presented under your name).

Thank you Lopburi. As usual good advise from you. PFwai2.gif

  2. This story is a good example of people not understanding what the rules are and what will be required. Maybe given misleading info along the way as well. Please do your research before the deadline arrives and have all you ducks in a row, good luck to them but not an unsolvable problem

Yes, you are right. Nobody ever mentioned the marriage certificate when we inquired last season. And the funds have been here all along for both, but in 1 account. There is a lot of talk, about visa offices being able to "fix" such a problem. Anybody with a phone number/name?

The next option would be getting another visa abroad. Non-Imm O. Where? Thank you for everybody's help. PF.

  3. Here the facts:

    - Swiss Couple over 60, same family name in passports

    - 1.65 Mio seasoned 6 months in husband's name bankbook

    - 50'000 in separate bankbook in wife's name

    - Non Imm. O expires Dec. 10.

    - They don't have marriage certificate with them and can't get it in time, neither can they get pension

confirmation for wife in time as the embassy takes several weeks. .And the marriage certificate would be

    in German.

Any way out of this dilemma? Would they accept a transfer of 800K to HER book?

Any way to pass without the marriage certificate?

Any of the local offices could help without charging an outrageous amount?

    Thank you very much. PF.

  4. You will need: - passport and arrival card (original plus copy) - passport size photo - bankbook - letter from bank confirming money in the bank for 2 months - proof of your address, such as rental contract

    Thanks Mario

I have 1.6 Mio and the book is in my name (husband only!) Now my bank tells me it needs to be in both our names? Would anybody know the facts? What if we switch the funds now into a new book with both names, will it be enought to show the old book to proof the 2 month seasoning period.

And next question: Do we really need a marriage certificate? We don't have 1 with us.

    Thank you all. PF

  5. A combination of both. Mediocre wiring, booster-systems,corroded & cheap China hardware in estate or hotel. Constantly changing signals which require constant adjustments of boosters. Then on the other side insufficient steady (weak) signal, run through big boosters along the way to the end user, from the provider. Pirated movies run from the cheapest home DVD player by the provider. You are right. Almost every place here deals with this problem, or gave up dealing with it. Sophon is the worst provider and only jst now another provider tries finally to break the monopoly in Central Pattaya. When Banglamung Cable tried it a few years back, the fights got real nasty, if you remember. Only option is UBC, which most bars have. TIT. I am happy if I get some main channels in decent quality. 6. What type of visas do you and your wife have now?

If you are on non-immigrant O visas, then you would be applicant, your wife would be classed as a dependent, and one bank account with 800,000+ THB would suffice.

If you are on a tourist visa, then you both have to apply for a 90 day extension and conversion to an O visa, and at the same time, apply for the one year extension of the new O visas. Since in this scenario your spouse would not have had an O visa prior to this, you would each have to meet the 800,000+ THB bank deposit requirement individually.

My wife (Australian) and I (American) went through this process earlier this year, and it worked fine.

Once I hear the type of current visa, then I can advise as to the necessary documentation.

    Thank you.

We both are on a non-immigrant O which will expire Dec. 15th. Thank you again to all posters.

  7. But lauditory comments are quite welcome. So, here in the granny forum, we'll just have to pretend that recently, for high season, a number of exemplary, well educated, elegant, well-spoken charm school graduates have already begun arriving from their landed estates to impress us all with their politeness, gracious manners, kindness, consideration, and generosity. Not mention their good looks.

How lucky we are! FINALLY, after waiting all year for them. Pattaya, the tourist paradise. How we'll miss them when they buzz off.

    Great!!!clap2.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

  8. Looking for a rubber seal which has a pocket for a magnetic stripe. They were available at the aircon/fridge parts wholesale-place just above City Hall. Now they are out and can not order. Anybody knows of another wholesale-place specialized in fridge and aircon parts. Maybe i get lucky and find a roll of this special rubber profile/seal, that goes on those rest, type glass fridges. I need the smaller one of the profiles. I already have the magnetic stripe. Thanks. PF.

  9. Is there limestone in the water here? Never really see any in my water-cookers, but recently having trouble with a new water-heater, that clogs up and shows a substance similar to limestone, which closes down the water-flow. First time in 20 yrs. here...Strange....Thanks for any info. PF..
