  1. Sure, the traffic backs up when the lights are on, and as Robin said, its because they cant figure out the light will change, so they are busy with checking the mirror out! Also, the timing could be improved. At the Nongpure intersection, traffic was backed all the way passed the over pass, I thought there was an accident, but just the lights. I think most Thai's have very important business going, and dont have time to wait for a stupid light, so they cut through the 7/11. then someone is coming from the other direction, so you have a traffic jam in the parking lot!

  2. What is the idea of installing traffic lights, using them for a month, then turning them off? First it started on the bypass road, then beach road, then last month, on Soi Siam and Nongpure. Of course at first, there was the usual confusion, and impatient drivers cutting through the 7/11, but it did work a bit, but now the lights are turned off, and back to the old free for all. What is the purpose of all this? Does someone's brother in law have a company that installs traffic lights, or is it just the normal "not thinking"? Is there anything that is actually planned, or does someone just get a hair up their a$$ and decides to do something? At the end of Soi Siam, where the road curves around the lake, the traffic lanes were done three times, before they got it right, (almost right) one day painting the lines, next week, chipping the paint away, and then paint again. Even then, they had to install barriers, to keep the cars from taking a short cut.

Thats my rant for the day!

  3. The shovel I bought in HW looks about like the one in the pic, but with a metal handle. It might fill one sand bag, but I wouldnt count on two! Fortunately, they dont seem to have them very often, although I cant understand a store called Home Works, wouldnt have a shovel! I guess they would be good for filling sand bags, but not to dig anything. Same as most of the tools in the shops, just made out of soft steel, so cant be used for anything.

  4. Dont buy a spade from Home Works, (sometimes they have them in stock), I had been looking for a spade, and finally found one in HW, but when I got it home, it bent like cardboard! Havent you noticed, Thai use s hoe, (not the hoe from beach road) Labor is cheap, so they dont need to develop anything. I would like a long handled shovel, so I dont break my back. The wood that they use for handles here is also as heavy as iron.

  5. This sounds like a story that was here about a month ago, could it just be a re-run? Anyway, that is BS, that they just left the child in the car for a minute. Why would they even lock the car, if it was just for a minute, and why didnt one of the parents stay with the child? Same story from everyone that leaves a child in a car, "only for a minute". Dont they know how hot it can get in a car? Sure, there is enough air in the car, thats not the problem, its the HEAT. Key left inside the car! Must be idiots or worse.

  6. The tusk are good luck for who? They are not good luck for the thousands of elephants have have been killed for their ivory, and not good luck for the next thousand that will be killed.

Agreed, the tranquilizers should have been used earlier. What if the elephants were attacking people? Dont the handlers take any precautions, or just sit in the shade?

  7. Does anyone think the separationist are going to sit idly by, while cameras are being installed? Soon, it will take half the army to guard the cameras. For some reason, most cctv cameras do not work in Thailand anyway. I can just picture, that when a man comes out to service a camera, there will be a surprise waiting for him, and soon, no one will come to do any service job.

  8. Must be that I have been in Pattaya too long, but announcements like this, make me think there is more to the story, than whats being told. The post above this, has one killed near Si Racha, so I guess he died on the other side of the line, so is counted in another area. Are the police in Pattaya doing such a wonderful job, or is it just the luck of the draw, where the bodies fall?

The same is the difference between injured and dead, its a very fine line, and really shouldnt be used when making up this statistics.

  9. Fullstop, I had thought of the same question, and havent come up with an answer. The only difference between a ladyboy and a man is some silicone, so is it the silicone that makes it illegal, or is it the shape? I wonder how this would stand up in a court of law. Definitely there are a few men on the beach, that should be behind bars. Any bar would be better than on the beach, in public.

  10. "injuries were reduced by 312"! What does that mean, does it mean the police actually did something to reduce accidents, or does it mean that a few more injured people died, thus making the injured statics sound better? I was on the road last night, and didnt see anything that the police were doing to reduce accidents. Both sholders were being used, and before the lights turned green, people were racing to gain an advantage over the other cars. If the police wanted to actually do something, they could have made their quota of tea money, for the entire year.

  11. If we could just get the Chinese to believe that rats and cockroaches are used to make viagra, then we would have one problem solved.

What are the people along the roads, with long sticks, catching? Lizards or tokay? I seen about 20 in a 10km stretch of road. Seems there are no animals safe here. Even the smallest are caught, no matter how much energy it takes to catch them. Anything and everything that moves is killed.

  12. Doesnt anyone else in these families do any work? I think that once the farang money starts flowing in, most of the work stops. When push comes to shove, everyone knows who will be paying, so why does the family need to work so hard, when they know the farang will come through, with any emergency that may come alone.

As far as living with a working girl, no, not for me. Usually with my partners, we like to discuss the days work, but in this case, there wouldnt be much to discuss. Now if someone likes these kind of stories, then it would be an interesting match. "Oh honey, it was so big today!"

  13. Just got back from a day trip, to visit the relatives. There were two police (family members) at the get together, both drunk. I guess they were some sort of volunteers, then they left for duty, a third came, in uniform, he sat for a while and had a few shots, then left for work. No one seemed concerned that they were drunk, since they could still walk, and still drive a car. Before we arrived, there were some urgent phone conversations, seemed that they couldnt get any whisky in town, so wanted us to stop and get a few bottles. The 7 didnt sell, so we had to go to a mom and pop store, so they saved the day!! hahaha. On my way back home, (no, I didnt drink) one motor bike just missed me, and one pick-up nearly clipped me, since he didnt know I was on the. Didnt see any accidents, but in the dark, there could have been a few that were in the bushes. I didnt want to drive today, but of course, the gf doesnt understand why it can be dangerous, and cant plan ahead, and go a day or two earlier.
