  1. That restaurant owner must have some big connections. Immigration officers plus 4 Kathu police needed to get these criminals. I would also want to pose proudly behind these hardened criminals and smile knowing that I've made Thailand a safer place. After all, it's a well known fact that those who are accused of cheating on a restaurant bill are likely to kill.

Are you saying the police should not spend time on cheaters ? Rubbish.

  2. For some reason this thread reminds me of a very old joke.

A guy meets a girl in a bar in Pattaya and he asks if she works and what kind of works she does.

The girl replies with, I sell pus-sy.

The guys says, nice, so you work in a pet shop.

Hummm. I hope I'm never sitting next to you and you start telling jokes. (joke ?)

  3. 'there are no bad dogs only bad owners'.

Except most dogs here dont have owners, are rabid and like to chase walkers, cyclists, bikers especially when the dogs outnumber the humans.

Cull the soi dogs and soon. Numbers are growing

Most dogs are rabid ? As you are so uniformed i shall not bother reading anything further you might have to say on Tv.

  4. You have to learn to live with them, they have their good and bad points,

good they eat mosquitoes, bad they can get into electrical equipment, had

one fried in the controls of washing machine, but still like them around,in

fact I have one that lives on my computer desk, usually stays under keyboard,

I feed it little bits of food, really likes cake.

No matter how well you think you have the house sealed they are still going to

get in,if they want,if you need to keep them out your electrical equipment,I use

the following methods, get some Thai tobacco (like shag),put in in small cloth

bags and hang near your equipment, another thing that works is Moth balls

put them in bags same as tobacco, downside they smell a bit,as I have already said,

try and live with them, they could save you from a nasty case of Dengue fever.

regards Worgeordie PS most local markets will sell the tobacco

Cake ? Surely you jest ? They only want live food.

  5. why are they drinking milk anyway? Milk is already rotten, it's white because of the pus.

There is more calcium in a cup of broccoli than a cup of milk.

How do the largest animals on the planet with the largest bone structures, aka calcium deposits

get all that calcium? Oh yeah! green plants!!!

Drinking milk is stupid any way you look at it. Pushing lactose on a lactose intolerant society is stupid.

Lactose intolerant society? Never hear of such a thing. Much more people tolerant than intolerant.

  6. I don't get why they search the houses for 30-40 year old cases, if it's done under the pretence of looking for evidence related to the historical case in any way then it's a complete and utter lie.

Old photos, even if outwardly innocent, may "set the scene" of the day. Who knows, maybe old letters with incriminating statements.

The police are doing their duty.

Why are the first three posts on this thread almost defending the accused? At least, showing sympathy.

    Sure does sound like sympathy.

  7. My last extension to the airport was long to get. Arrival 10h, passport returned to 17h. As I was warned by the friendly receptionist I spent much of that time in nearby Central Plaza. In fact I really have waited for two hours in the room.
My last check 90 days to Promenada was a little longer than before. 11h arrival for departure to 14:30 h. As I was warned by the kind receptionist I could quietly lunch and came back at 14:10. The actual waiting time will therefore 10 minutes, barely time to drink coffee.
I know perfectly that on arriving in the late morning I take the risk of being postponed to the next day but in 6 years It never happened and I always take the precaution to make the process a few days before the deadline.

And why not the mail for 90 day reporting ?

  8. I bought a latex mattress (10 cm thickness) from a TV sponsor when I moved here and have been very happy with it. (I have a memory foam mattress in my home country but couldn't find one that was reasonably priced here.)

A latex mattress does not trap heat like the memory foam does so it seems a bit cooler....but you also don't "sink down into" the latex mattress like on memory foam. More like floating on top of it.

There are several latex sleep furniture stores in Chiang Mai so you can try it out and see what you think before you buy. I did that and then purchased online from a TV sponsor - delivered to my door in a few days and it was about 20% less expensive than in the stores.

Whoever told you that you shouldn't buy a latex mattress in this climate gave you a bad recommendation, IMO. (I agree, however, that this climate probably isn't ideally suited for memory foam since it absorbs heat and moisture.) I'd say just the opposite - the material is very well suited for this climate and it's manufactured in this country.

Yes, Mam at www.latexinnovations.com only sells online, so her overhead is low and thus can sell a very reasonable prices. The factory where she orders from has raised the prices 3 times on her but she has maintained her prices. She has had hundreds and hundreds of happy customers all over Thailand, as she has been selling them since 2007/ 2008. She also does a lot of custom cut sizes, and many yacht owners in Phuket order from her. Your description of "floating on top of it" is spot on by the way.

    Disclaimer.....Mam is also my wife....wink.png

This is not a good business model, not raising prices as the factory has 3 times. Unless the retail price is very high to start with. good luck.

  9. "... passed out while waiting for the train ..."

Probably due to the need for a breakfast which would have been eaten after she started work.

Yes, probably. Thais seem to have this bad habit of spending 1.5-2 hours commuting to work in the insane heat BEFORE eating or drinking a single morsel of food. Why not wake up 20 minutes earlier and eat at home?

Of course the combination of 30-32 degree heat at 7am in the morning, lack of food and air-con is going to cause someone to pass out. Also, contrary to popular belief that Thais are more acclimatized to the heat here, I beg to differ. I know many locals here who have passed out due to the heat whereas I can handle it perfectly well, even going for a run in 37 degree heat is not an issue for me.

I am so happy for your wonderful health Tom.....

  10. After reading all the post i am thinking of other options for 1 year & 90 day reporting like local Thai visa service,”We should only give our business to the one Agent that most of us recommend?” so we can Control the Prices. “If we all get together we can make one Visa Service rich, or make it Poor no work no business.

Any idea Guys what sort of credentials do Visa Services need to obtain from the Thai government" before they receive license to handle so many different countries citizens passports?

Wrong sir. take away competition and UP go the prices.

  11. I don't hate the Brits, but you must admit that they are often the ones telling us about "proper" everything, from what you have to pay for a Leo to make it proper, how many canned beans you need on your plate for it to be proper. This post has to take the prize for the most: not your business (literally), who cares?, does it really matter?, what qualifies you to judge?, does it affect you?, and possibly just plain wrong post of the month, that is unlikely to be outdone, but it is only the 2nd (of September).

The reality is Doctors locate their offices using a large combination of factors that often include: being close to the hospital they serve, close to labs or imaging services, close to patient base, a place that meets current ISO standards for medical facilities, or simply a place that is affordable to them and their patients, etc..For these reasons they are often clustered together. In smaller towns, they may all share the same single building.

It is interesting that 'you' have used the word 'hate' with regard to the 'Brits' and then start talking about Leo & beans. Why attach a nationality to a poster with no justification.

As a matter of interest a collection of doctors in the UK who share a building is called a 'Health Centre'. They are not competing with each other but are working for the same joint company. Not quite the 'lemming' concept the OP opined.

Competition in health care? Karl Marx would roll over in his grave, and so would Michael Moore if his carcass didn't weigh 200 Kg. Surely, a government run system, where one needs to let the government keep half of his earnings is better than having a choice.

Still trying to understand why you choose that avatar.

  12. where else are young Thai couples to go,

They cant do the parents place, they cant afford a room.

Maybe put a few more litter bins around the place would help.

City hall and the cops should stop being busy bodies and do some real work plenty of bad things and crime around pattaya that would benefit from there attention. 1zgarz5.gif

Let young couples have there enjoyment, there not hurting anyone. wai2.gif

Guessing you never had any morals nor now. We humans are not animals. Just go running off in the bushes and fornicate. Nonsence

  13. It's a scary place to get sick or have an accident. I'd hate to have a serious accident and be waiting for an ambulance in Thailand. Honestly it's something I dread.

The other thing is food standards. There's little to no regulation. One example is Thai peanuts and corn. The stuff grown here would never make it to the dinner table back home due to mycotoxins.

I think you might be making your life more miserable than you need (toxins).
