  1. I rented a 3 bedroom house about 5mins walk from Rimping Kad Farang when my mother came over. Nice enough all amenities. Not cheap 17,000 Baht per month but the landlady was very service minded, no deposit required, just walk in and extend as needed. Happy to pass on her details and house location

That is not a bad price for three bedrooms.

  2. I have a new policy regarding extensions, If I can't get an online appointment, I will arrive during regular business hours with all documents and expect service, if they cannot accommodate me that day ,they will need to tell me what time to arrive the next day during business hours, I will flat out refuse to arrive and Que at 4:30 am... if their system is broken, and it is, they need to fix it.

    Well said Daoyai
How stupid it is to go to immigration at 4.30 in the morning to get a visa extension (retirement visa) ? There is something wrong with the system. This is supposed to be a modern country and it fails so much with the way it treats expats. Most of us have been living here for some years and call this our home .Immigration is using an antiquated system and it is time it grew up and joined the 21st century .
If we are unable to get an appointment online then we are expected to be there at 4.30 in the morning?
I wish more people would adopt Khun Daoyai's attitude and do the same.
Wake up immigration and grow up immigration and join the 21st century

Really ? Who told you this about being a modern country ?

  3. Nothing more than platitude.... using these meaningless acts of publicity to attempt deflect negative public attention...

She hasn't shaved her hair, why would the media need to be present...

(Previously) Her apology and request for forgiveness could have taken place in private.

(Previously) Her visitation to Temple to pray over the dead body could have happened late at night (out of the way of the media spotlight).

I'm not sure how the general population react to such obvious attempts a manipulating favour and the media... do they buy into this obvious BS?....

.....IMO it seems quite disgusting and desperate.

The Thai go on with their lives. Not much time to ponder this case for them. Why get so worked up over it? This is what happens. Life is NOT fair. Thais know it but westerners deny this fact of life. Life is not fair.

  4. And the carnage continues. You get numb to.

A big part of why I left the island, to many idiots on the roads,

Now in Bkk they seem to be way more polite and civilised with driving mannors,

My friend sent me pics of what was left of those 2 poor girls at the scene, almost threw up, it looks like there were 4 people on the bike. R.I.P.

dISGUSTING THAT YOUR FRIEND WOULD TAKE AND SEND SUCH A PHOTO.

  5. Scorecard,

No, no bound to happen and yes, can be prevented.

It is only a small section of the whole road which from the pic also runs its full length alongside the canal.

If unpreventable you would expect some movement to have occurred at other locations as well.

Changes in moisture content of soil can cause issues, especially clay based soils that expand and contract more than sand based soils.

In this case, there may have been a localised abnormality not known about during construction but the more likely cause is either 'one size fits all' engineering or a local land owner is disposing of some type of waste water under the road and the pipes have failed or similar.

It is hard to see from the picture but the soil directly under the road base seems nothing more than dirt and reddish clay both which would be considered an inadequate road base material.

You gotta love TV there is an expert ready for comment on any subject.

  6. 5 dead apparently

Ive seen that "Brakes Failed" nonsense on many an accident report

The Brakes wont work and stop you in time is you are travelling faster that you should be. I hate the carnage these people cause through sheer ignorance and 3rd world mentality

I read nothing about excessive speed yet YOU mention it. Were you there ?

  7. Yes,they are an eyesore, also dangerous, when they have them at

road junctions, blocking sight of oncoming traffic,no thought at

all from the people that put them up,Thai people need to realize,

and care more about what they are doing to their environment,

with noise, air and visual pollution, all out of control.

    regards worgeordie

Before they realize all that they will breed a flying pig.

  8. Just send it by registered mail. Takes about a week to come back. Easy, no lousy websites, no Internet Explorer.

I did that before this online stuff. But I'm due Monday so will go in person.

Walked in at 3 p.m. No waiting. Out in five minutes. I asked the clerk when they will move. Got a smile in reply.

  9. How long does it usually take to get approval with the online 90 day reporting ? Mine is pending 8 days now.

It would appear same day or within 24 hours if it is going to approved status. 8 days pending is unlikely to get either approval or rejection- limbo!

Don't forget to cancel the online application prior to going in personally if it comes to that.

A good tip. Looks like it is coming to that. So much for dreams coming true.
