Super friendly and really knowledgeable. He also stocks all the oils and liquids necessary for the RX-8's rotary engine. -

Been reading more on Pirelli.. Found reviews, mainly from Europe and the UK... Most agree a dreadful tyre in the wet
This was for various types of Pirelli. Im surprised. Will look at what others here have recommended. Thanks all.
Actually I had Pirelli ATRs (275/50/20) on my PJS in the past. I thought they were really good actually. These tires were made in Mexico and for the US-market, but my brother-in-law deals in these tires so he gave me a good deal. I am quite sure you will like them.

Thanks. I found a dealer offering 60k discounts on XLTs.
I was considering the Ford Ranger, but based on the comments in this thread, it seems it's difficult to get problems diagnosed properly and fixed free within the warranty period. I just want a reliable worry-free experience and a truck that will last a long time (10+ years), comfortable for 4 adults. Something that just needs minimal maintenance that can be performed by most competent licensed mechanics, not just manufacturer's dealership mechanics. A brand of truck where one doesn't have to argue with the service manager to get things fixed or escalate issues to the head office, etc.
Then the Ford Ranger XLT should be good for you. Tried and tested 2.2 duratorq engine which can be repaired by anyone. 6 speed AT with a normal clutch which can be changed by anyone. Parts readily available throughout Thailand. The 2.0 bi-turbo unit that's something completely different. Also the 60k discounts are on pre-MC models.

I'm considering purchasing a new pickup truck with an all-in price less than 900,000 . Any recommendations? I prefer the double cab/ 4 door with automatic transmission, 2 wheel drive is ok.
Are there usually year-end bargains, maybe demonstrators, or remaining 2020's before the 2021 vehicles arrive?
Those Ford Rangers look nice, especially one with a new 2.0L engine and 10 speed transmission.
If your budget is 900,000 then I would recommend looking at the final model change of the Ford Ranger XLT 4-door 2WD. It comes pretty much with everything you need and costs 899,000, but some dealers have promotions at the moment and are advertising for 859,000. It's the older 2.2 diesel engine with the 6AT, but I think it's more than good enough.

Hi all,
We bought a second hand car, after it had been checked by Honda 6 months ago and found to have no issues.
After we took it to Honda today, we were informed that the gearbox case has cracked (before we bought it) and the owner at the time had welded it replaced.
They've now advised that we need to replace it at a cost of 200,000 baht, even though it's something that wasn't noted before.
Also not covered under warranty ????
We will file a police report as the previous seller hasn't disclosed this information, however I don't expect it to go far.
Any advise of where else I can look for the second hand gearbox or somewhere that is cheaper?
Bit lost as it's a huge expense..Contact https://www.facebook.com/speedway52honda
They are probably the most known shop in Thailand for repairing Civic FC and FK gearboxes. A rebuild will cost around 22,000 THB. They can source second hand ones as well.

Sad to hear they will be closing down. I always like the Japanese manager Yamada there. I do hope that your repair goes well.

You could have gone to the newer private Kalasin Thonburi Hospital or rather than going to the emergency room the second time, you could have made an appointment with a doctor and request a CT-scan. The emergency room usually has only trainees working as the normal doctors are working somewhere else in the hospital. 99% of emergency cases at Kalasin hospital can be solved by those trainees (who already have been studying for 7 years).

Out of curiosity wasn't the PJS 3.0 v6 the only one on Gasoline ?? And the rest Diesel ??
Edit: But when you buy the car and you open the tank to fill her up, you clearly should see a sticker Diesel / Petrol. And if you are still not sure send an email to Mitsubishi Call Centre with the VIN number and they will tell you !
Nah, there actually was a 2.4 liter gasoline version called the PJS 2.4 GLS, but came only with a MT I believe...

Thinking to get myself second hand Pajero 2.4. Anybody can tell me what kind of diesel should i use for Pajero (i think the car was purchased about 5-6 years ago, i dont know the exact model but the current owner was asking for less than a million baht)?
I checked at PTT Station, there are Ultraforce Diesel at THB 27 per litre and Ultraforce Pemium Diesel at THB 30.89 per litre as of March 2019. Also there are other alternative such as Gasohol 91, 95, E20, and E85 (cheapest)
By your estimation, how far can this car go for a litre of diesel? (not sure if i can fill gasohol E85 or not). Let say i'll drive this car from Bangkok to ChiangMai at the speed of 80-120kmh, how much do you estimate i need to pay for diesel along the way? 1500 baht? 2000? 3000? How many stops do i need to make to refill the tank?
Do you have any specific suggestion about oil machine if i ever need to change the current oil.?
Sorry for such amateur question. Never own Pajero before.
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
1. Pajero 2.4 of 5 or 6 years ago is probably going to be the gasoline version.
2. Pajero 2.4 of 2 -3 years ago is the diesel version.
Check first what car you are going to buy.

You can request your bank in your home country to transfer 65,000 THB to your account in Thailand (they will figure out the exchange rate and transfer the appropriate amount of currency of your home country.) At least that's what a few German friends have been doing for the past years.

Honda Leasing = loan company owned by Honda...not similar to leasing a car in Europe where you need to return it. The name is indeed a bit confusing.
The OP has a 5 year loan for his car. After 5 years he will own it. Therefore, better to forget about the leasing in Honda Leasing.
You can refuse anything you want, but you do need to follow the regular maintenance schedule from Honda. Normally their maintenance isn't expensive to begin with. Other parts such as tires, wipers and even brakes you can do somewhere else if you feel like it.

I got mine (Kenpro) for free from the insurance company inclusive of a 5% discount on my policy.

In your preaching, you are 100% right.
This should have been heard by the OP 16 years ago.
Now it's too late.
This is now about concrete damage limitation and behavioral tips.True. The only thing he can do is to close his business and get on with his life. Had a good run.

Absolute nonsense. Put food on the table legally, and make sure you can do it before you take on the responsibility of a family who will depend on you.
Absolutely correct. Operating a legal business ain't so hard if you follow the rules and are able to go with the "flow". It's just a matter of actually wanting to operate a legal business instead of taking the easy way out.
For foreigners married to a Thai person, they already allow us to stay in Thailand under a non-immigrant o visa which is easily obtained. Starting your own business or finding a job if you're qualified is not so difficult.

It all depends how he has extended his non-immigrant O visa.
1// With 400,000 THB in the bank account -> In this case his non-immigrant O stays valid.
2// With income of 40,000 THB or more -> In this case as he is leaving the reason for extension (his work) of his non-immigrant O then it becomes invalid.

You need to take a TOEIC exam. It's only organized once per month in Khon Kaen. I recommend you go to Bangkok to take it as it's daily x 4.
You need a minimum of 600 out of 990.
Test cost is 1,800 baht + 100 for EMS'ing the results to your home.
Results are sent out the next day.

When I applied for a re-entry permit the immigration office wrote the wrong date of validity on the stamp.
My extension is valid until 1 December 2016, but the re-entry permit valid until 1 January 2016.
I didn't double check and only found out because the immigration officer at Khon Kaen airport pointed it out.
When I returned from abroad I informed immigration at DM about this and they corrected all in the system, but it took 1 hour and a lot of going back and forth with Sakhon Nakhon immigration and DM.
Lesson that I learned was to always double check both validity and class because even if it's not your fault you still got to waste time getting it fixed.
happy the OP got it cleared up!

Normally if you work as a freelancer in Thailand you will be deducted 3% witholding tax.
so 5,000 THB becomes 4,850 THB.
150 THB is bank transfer fee. so the total would be 4,700 THB?

Toyota CH-R hybrid diagnostics (headlight system fault)
in Thailand Motor Discussion
Posted · Edited by JoeW
Check this page -> https://www.tochr.net/1331/initialization.html
Seems to explain the issue that you're having. Could be anything from a bad connection, to a faulty ECU.
As for your BSM system, this is probably a short in either your side mirrors or a faulty BSM sensor which are located under your rear bumper. In any case, for both cases, the dealer will probably have to remove certain parts of your car in order to investigate the issue. If you haven't done any modifications, then it should be covered by warranty. If dealer doesn't want to cover under warranty, contact Toyota HQ and inform them of the issue.
