Sounds very fishy to me.
I've lived in various places over the past 13+ years and not only has no cop ever come to my house unannounced, I have never heard of anyone having this experience, including friends who have lived here for 30 years.
I don't understand this note on his phone. Did you ask for his badge number and name? Or any ID?
You could clear this up by going to immigration and asking them. If he's an imposter, they would be interested in knowing this, I'm sure.

They're out in the boonies. It looks like they primarily do wood and some plastics. Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone know where in CM to have a metal bracelet engraved in Thai?
A man I know has some dementia and has a tendency to wander off and get lost. We'd like to fit him with a bracelet engraved with his name and the contact phone number of someone who can fetch him if he goes missing again.
Any ideas? And any place to get a bracelet suitable for this purpose here?

Quote"An old plug-ugly behind the wheel of a Ferrari or Lambo trying to impress people."
What difference does it make what you look like when you drive a nice car?
Sooner or later, this happens to everyone (aging).
Why is it people have such a hard time comprehending that some people have a lot more money than average? And is posting on ThaiVisa only for poor people?

QuoteIn real life only an imbecile would spend that amount of money on a car worth just a small fraction of the price.
In real life there are people who have money. Starting price overseas is $56,350. That is not an expensive car. Many people here could spend that money without even thinking.
Just because you're on a pension eking it out here doesn't mean others were very financially successful in life.

The woman says, "Can you take care of me"? This means, of course, financial support (what other kind of care matters in Thailand? Nothing.).
The question I always ask is, "What are you going to do for me?"
Hard to find a relationship that is not asymmetrical.

Most of the people posting here have no real clue what crypto actually is. That's not taking the piss out of you guys, but stating the fact that you need to disregard what you read in the mainstream media and start looking at what the people who are actually in the know say; those who work in crypto every day -- from mining to trading to owning masternodes -- to see what is really going on.
"...these basically unregulated waters..."
Uh, that's part of the whole point -- we are trying to get away from regulations.
"Anyone wishing to dabble should have a look at a trading site..."
Ha...yes, if you want to add another layer of fees for your trades.
"Bought some more ripple a month ago, it's going to be x 10 at least by the end of November."
Oh boy....you are aware that Ripple as a company and the XRP token are very different, right? And I guess you know that the company has in the past falsified claims regarding XRP’s properties to increase its value.
I'd like to know what you base this 10x prediction on, since I bought 8,000 XRP when they were 17 cents. Shall I start looking at colors for the Lambo?
I don't know how someone with a laptop could be scamming someone but I guess it's possible. Or it could have been that he was trying to show his grandparents how his crypto holdings (or mining) actually works.
As for Bitcoin, my guess is that it will not survive the long term as a functional "currency." Transfer times are far too long (LTC beats the ___ out of BTC for that, for example, as does BCH) and the fees are far too high. There are other technical issues not relevant here as well.
Think of Netscape or Ask.com....or AOL...or Firefox....at one time or another we thought these would be the leaders for a very long time. We were wrong, and I think while BTC will continue to be traded as a commodity in itself, another coin/token will surface that actually meets the criteria for real world usage.
It may be something that already exists or it might be something yet to be issued. Time will tell.
Frankly, I'm more interested to hear what people who are mining have to say.

Indoor Nana Plaza gets my vote.

I don't know about that. Even when it first opened it didn't have much draw. Not sure that location is ideal.

Walking around the mall the other day I noticed a few more shops closed. The only form of customer life support is due to people having to come for immigration issues.
When the move back to the new building by the airport comes, which is supposed to be soon, what will happen then?
As it is now, the mall can't be profitable. When immigration is gone, will they "decommission" the mall?

You don't live in Chiang Mai, so:
A) Why post here, aside from, "...you guys are more vocal" comment (Are we? Doubt it.).
Why will you not tell us where you DO live?
The "front desk"? Are you living in a hotel?
To your question: if you are living in a condo or hotel, of course move. Rent a house. Why would anyone stay in a facsimile of a prison ward when they can have a house?

What's with the group photo? Looks like a company picnic shot.
I can't believe that all the people in the photo had something to do with this case. Interesting to see all these BiB taking credit for a "find my phone" app on all iPhones. Sure beats doing police work.

If I want to renew my existing driver's license, how long before it expires can I do that?
Also, how long after it expires can I still renew without having to start the process as if I had no license at all?

So when you walk your dog, you have to put it in a car and drive somewhere?
As was mentioned, just walk around wherever you live.

So they just finish the underpass and bridge reworks down from Central Festival, which went for what? Three years or four?
...and now they will start another?
Ya just can't win in this city.

What is the intention of those standing by the roadside on a major highway, such as on the way to Doi Saket (Chiang Rai road) and seeing a motorcyclist coming at 60 or 70kph and running out and tossing a full, large bucket of water directly into your face?
Is this welcoming the new year? A kindly tradition?
Or is this a hopeful gesture to make the motorcyclist fall off this bike resulting in injury and, in the best-case scenario, death?
This seems like assault with intent to do grave bodily harm, regardless of the holiday.
Or do I just not "get it"?

The reason for the round-up of the bikes in the China photos is that people leave them in places which block pathways, parking and views.
Welcome the Chinese invasion of bikes now. Jesus....

"It made it special, instead of the background noise it is now."
Uh...many of the artists who released records back then are still releasing music, er, "background noise" as you call it.
Or are you channeling Marshall McLuhan, who said famously, "The medium is the message," meaning that the medium itself and not the content it contains should be the focus of interest. So it is not the music itself that is of interest here (or movies, as I believe is the subject) but rather the form in which it is carried.
Perhaps you should be researching for a place to put your video tapes onto 8mm film.
One paid a lot of money for a top quality projector, had a top quality screen with a good reflective surface, and had a library of wonderful films that were artful and informative. It made it special.

Fact check: Where are all the "abandoned VW vans"?

Without an internet connection? What do you mean? How are you posting on ThaiVisa? Using the old "internet string and two tin cans" method?
My car was made in late 1956. It is two years older than I am. So yes, I am young.
Why fight technology? You can't win. Perhaps you can transfer your movies to magic lantern slides.... >..<

I currently know three women who have each had a baby with a foreigner. None of the men know that they made a girl pregnant and obviously don't know they are the father of a child.
The girls all say they didn't want to have the man know because, in general, "It's my baby, not his," or words to that effect. Even when I point out that the father ought to know and there is some moral obligation to help the woman and her child, they all flat out refuse.
Two of the men were sex tourists (one was on holiday away from his girlfriend, who was/is blissfully unaware of anything) and one is a DJ in Thailand.
I have come across this situation before too, when I lived in the South and I don't think it's all that uncommon.
I wonder what goes through the mind of a man who has unprotected sex and finished the act inside. Everyone knows this is how you make babies. To do this seems like wildly irresponsible behavior.
Anyway, if some of you out there (in Thailand or just parachute visitors) has done this with some woman (or two or more), be aware that you might actually be a father.
