  1. My Linn Kolektor pre amp has suddenly died. I am using it in conjunction with my Linn Power Amp and B&W Nautilus speakers. Primarily for TV.

Replacing the pre-amp is going to be too expensive and I cannot find an audio repair shop in Phuket so have decided to purchase a different pre amp so I can enjoy TV audio and general digital music.

My question is this. The set up I have is great , but now lacking a pre-amp. Is there a difference in quality between pre-amps beyond functionality.I cannot see how one pre amp is better than another from an audioplhile perspective as having lifted the lid it is simply some small circuit boards routing the inputs.

Given this is primarily to be used for TV I figured the option to include a sub woofer might be handy.

Do pre -amps differ in quality so substantially? Does anyone have a recommendation for a pre-amp with around 3 inputs ?

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

  2. I was hoping to make a return trip From Phuket to CM in the next few days but can’t seem to find any bus availability online which I suppose are either full, not updated or not running.

Does anyone know if busses / coaches are running or could offer any Alternative Suggestions  opadvice as to this trip?

    many thanks in advance

  3. Whilst everyone is self isolating the availability of ladies to chat with is currently enormous. Model shoots are cancelled and ladies are more available than ever for a naughty chat. I use saucytime.com as the quality of ladies is far superior, plus it isn't booked in Thailand. Anyone remember Holly McQuire the page 3 gal? I had a 10 min FaceTime call with her for 350Bhat! The pound is weak and the girls are in abundance. Nice to chat and have some fun with an English girl who understands what good banter is. Certainly cheered my day up! Plus I do need to explain why we are out of hand sanitiser! Holly is my fave - who is yours? www.saucytime.com

They probably assumed that you go back to work, just without having the correct visa. Do you always make holiday in a suit?

If you want to enter as a tourist, the most important thing is probably that you should look like one.

What do you mean by "extension was refused"? When you finish your job your extension to stay ends. What's your nationality?

A tourist visa always gives you 60 days, not 90.

Did you sign the paper which they asked you to sign?

Good point regarding the suit. I had worn it at KL immigration as they are quite conservative. I am British. I had the extension of stay refused which I think just means that I could not stay for a further 30 days.

Believe 60 is what you get and you can extend for 30 or go out in get another 60 ( maybe land border better? ) and then extend 2nd 60 for another 30 at Imm for 1900 baht then maybe also 60 day to 'visit your wife'

Better answers will be posted I'm sure detailing the extensions to your 90 day visa.

That's great advice thanks. I am in Phuket so would you suggest in terms of a land border crossing? Is it just a case of in and out ? Thanks in advance..

  6. I have just terminated my work permit and left Phuket to fly in and out of Phuket to KL same day with my wife.

Upon arrival (in a suit) I handed my passport to the immigration officer who directed me to a small room, my Wife had sailed through I was told I did not have a visa and must return to KL. it was a Friday

The immigration officers were very nice but my extension was refused and once my passport was stamped that was it. No point Arguing the toss. I was handed a piece of paper and the official reason was ‘unable to financially support oneself) despite me showing my 80k/ month rental contract!

I was led to a room with a bunk bed and a dirty towel for a blanket. Sink and shower and locked in. The security guard was very helpful and I gave him some money to buy me some provisions from 7/-111. At 1030 my cell door was opened and I had to purchase a return ticket to KL.

As it was the weekend I had to book a hotel for 5 days.

Picked up my tourist visa on Tuesday and my 90 days was stamped for 60.

So, my friends - aBe aware the KL in/out same day does not guarantee you re- entry. Also can I do anything about my 90 day visa being stamped for 60?

    many thanks and safe travels

  7. I have searched the forums for someone with a similar situation to my own to no avail, given the rules change so frequently someone might be in a similar situation or able to advise..

    I am a British Citizen and Thai work permit holder since mid Jun 2016, my visa is due for renewal this week and the consultancy I use have quoted me the following cots in order to complete the process;

    - Renewal of a One Year non immigrant B visa 25,000 THB

    - Renewal of work permit - 8,100 BHT

Also I have been asked for a 'convenience fee' of 10,000 BHT (tea money) which could very well be a consultancy scam, apparently to ensure that if I am not at the offices when / if immigration visit in case I do not happen to be in the office at the time.

My question is - are the fees correct for work permit and vis extensions and what would you suggest regarding the 'convenience fee;?

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Ever since the introduction of the central reservation and designated U-Turns spots on Viset Rd I see an accident every other day. Not sure what this was doing as no other vehicles involved in collision. All they have achieved with this ingenious bit of road planning is make an already dangerous road even more dangerous!

  9. If you think this guy is a mug, then you are. He's a serial entrepreneur with international business interests and financially successful enough to afford such a gift. His philanthropy doubtlessly comes from a good place but at the same time I'm sure life and business can just run that little bit more smoothly with influential friends. Very schrewd and very smart. Well played.

  10. Some lawyers represent criminals. Does that make them criminals too?

Not at all, although as a civil rights lawyer his deeply unsavoury clients aren't particularly diverse which could suggest sympathy with their ideology. The fact that he took his oath on the Koran when he was first elected as an MP tells us all we need to know about his true allegiance, as does his attitude toward moderate Muslims, whom he described on Irans Press TV channel as 'Uncle Toms'.

At a time when Europe needs to take a hardline against terrorism is this the best man for the job?

I don't think tackling terrorism across Europe is part of the mayor of London's remit.

Perhaps somebody should tell him then. He calls himself the 'British Muslim who will take the fight to the extremists'.

  11. As a Christian, I would never vote for a Muslim. Islam is more of a Cult than a Religion. Muslim's cannot leave Islam and if you

marry a Muslim, you must become a Muslim. It's a phony religion and more of a cult!

probably the most facile, ill-informed post on the whole thread!

Aren't you Christians supposed to be tolerant of other religions? Doesn't this give you the moral high ground against other less tolerant ideologies?

'As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions' - Romans 14:1-4

'I will cast terror in the hearts of those who disbelieve m. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them' - Quran 8:12

In 2001 he was the lawyer for the Nation of Islam in its successful High Court bid to overturn the 15-year-ban on its leader, Louis Farrakhan.

In 2005 and 2006 he visited terror-charged Babar Ahmad in Woodhill Prison. Mr. Ahmed was extradited to the U.S. in 2012, serving time in prison before being returned to the UK in 2015. Mr. Ahmed pleaded guilty to the terrorist offences of conspiracy, and providing material support to the Taliban.

And Mr. Khan also campaigned for the release and repatriation of Shaker Aamer, Britain’s last Guantanamo detainee, who was returned to the UK in November.
