Last time I took a taxi by meter was from 'downtown' Bangkok and it came to 1300bt, so one would think it would be less. However, I agree with wpcoe that 1500 seems to be what they will be looking for and indeed, many a taxi will not know exactly where to go once in Pattaya. In the past I've tried to get them to as close as possible and then get them to speak to the hotel to guide them in so to speak. All a bit hit and miss with these guys as I'm sure you know. All the best

As far as I know it's not the withdrawal bank, it's the daily limit set by the issuing bank. If they let you withdraw that amount then any ATM here would work. For example, my limit per day with HSBC was £300 (15,000bt ish) I rang them and had it increased and can now withdraw 3 times that in one go. Hope this makes sense and helps.

Good work.. Nice to have over 80m baht to play with on 1 exchange. Out of interest how long has it taken to be up just over 4% ?If you show real results trading the SET then the enrollments will follow. If you don't then...I guess it is back to peddling loop hole visas...
Phronesis, update of Walen portfolio as of 9 Sep 2013. See the attachment. Enjoy. It is getting better and better.
good luck.

IMO I am an internet warrior and will sit behind my keyboard in the sweating safety of my house/apartment in Phuket/Bangkok/Issan playing the hard man, increasing my expanding waist line and giving it the big 'en but in reality if I was ever confronted about the things I say here I would siht myself.
That's a shame. Perhaps you should get out more, maybe a bit of exercise? Might even meet a friend or two, none of us would like to see you shit yourself. Good luck to ya

Are you qualified to give advice and teach about investing? If so how? And because you've played the markets over the years doesn't cut it. I was a structured/risk arbitrage equity trader for an investment bank for years and I'm not sure I'd want to start teaching about it. or maybe I could come and help you
lolJust check that you can do it legally. I.e in the u.k if you are not an FSA registered representative and you give advice that causes a loss, you and the company will be sued, fined, banned etc etc.. Maybe Thailand has something similar? If you 'teach' people and they lose money as a result I'm guessing they won't be too pleased...

Where will you be staying and how old is the kid? A day trip to kanchanburi for bridge over the river kwae and tiger temple is a favourite day out. Then you've got the river trips as mentioned above and I guess the temples are a must. Chatachak weekend Market or MBK will take up a good few hours too. There are also many great restaurants or soi's where you can get half decent street food. Have fun!

Avoid chaweng like the plague. Tourism has killed it IMO. Unless Starbucks, pizza hut, noise and bad smells appeals
amongst other things.. Personally I gotta agree that it isn't the best time of year to go, but given the choice I would head to choeng mon beach. One of the best beaches on the island with some pretty decent restaurants. And its not far from chaweng for the odd shopping/nightclub trip. Just my 2 cents..
Would you fight for Thailand?
