Hi. Personally I like chong moeng as it's got one of the nicest beaches on the island and not too far from the 'action' of chaweng for the odd night out. Chaweng has become far too touristy for me. I've never had a problem staying at the White house hotel in chong moeng. Check out the angthong marine national park for a good day out. Have a good trip!

Chiang mai, Bangkok and Pattaya sounds like a plan. Just be careful, $3-4k can last for a months vacation, but at the same time can be gone in a week if some of the delightful young ladies get their way. Hope you have a good time
