Oh I agree. I was addressing the white flag brigade that would have thrown in the towel at the very start. That said victory of sorts has already occurred with his initial plans of conquering Ukraine within a few days in tatters. How this plays out from here still has many scenarios and we have no idea what Putin is really planning, whatever he spouts out cannot be trusted.

He has also lost in his objectives of the NATO threat as NATO are now stronger than ever before. Russia is doomed for many years to come as a result of his war of choice.

Let's hope that there are "many years to come!"

  2. I went to Samui from KPG on Monday, no checks in either port, With the FMP coming up it's guaranteed that there will be plenty of Covid carriers on the Islands in excess of official figures. If you're coming to the party, you're not going to get checked if you have mild symptoms. My advice to the rest of the oldies is don't go out if you don't need to for the next few days.

  3. I was in Samui yesterday and was offered a 6 months old car, by a dealer, at a reasonable price, 390000thb. There was no VAT to pay if I had bought the car outright, but if I had paid a 25% deposit, the repayment of 292500tbh over 48 months was subject to 4.75% interest + VAT at 7%. I calculated the monthly repayments at 6831thb(292500/48=6094 +4.75%=6384+7%=6831), but the dealer, backed up by the Hire Purchase rep arrived at 7760thb per month. The 7% had to be applied to the balance each year, which I could not believe was correct. Anyone know better?

Needless to say I declined the offer.

    It should be enough but.....

I went to KPN from Samui a few weeks back using the Lomlahk ferry.

Nothing was asked for Samui to KPN.

KPN to Samui, again nothing was asked for on boarding the ferry, but on arriving at Samui, there were some Thais asking to see my Thailand Pass.

I explained that I did not have one nor need one having lived here for more than 20 years.

They did not know what to do and so I showed them my Thai id card. (A Thai driving licence would also have worked.)

They took a photo of it and waved me through.

I never needed to show my vaccine certificate et al.

I'll make sure I take my yellow house book and passport, that should do it. Thanks for telling me.

I asked you to elicit information from you Thank you for responding, albeit eventually. Without triggering you could you give your opinion  on the record keeping aspect of your service. I am happy to find a better service  than Express VPN but usually cost reduction and price differentials are matched by concomitant reductions in quality  of service.

    https://www.techradar.com/reviews/browsec-vpn

Like PIA and surfshark it gets pretty  good reviews but might not support tormenting

So: 'youse  pay yer money and makes your choice'

You know, money has never been my criteria for buying something and in this instance, I first used Browsec some years ago when someone on here recommended their free VPN. Although it worked ok, the main server was in Holland and the UK server was useless, so I paid for their premium service. I was disappointed as there were too many issues and they admitted that there were problems that needed resolving. They refunded me in full without question. Like you, I read all the good reviews for Express and signed up and paid for a year with 3 months free, back in September 2020. After many issues with the i player and ITV showing messages headed "we have detected....." a guy at Express suggested that I watch tv through Zattoo with the Swiss server. Very useful advice, probably with most VPN's, as the Swiss don't seem to detect us. Anyway, before the 15 months was up I had a word with Browsec and they persuaded me to give them another try and I am very happy I did. In conclusion I honestly believe that Express and Nord have many of the Tech reviewers in their pockets, which is probably why they are the most expensive out there, but not necessarily the best!

I did ask what was better not cheaper. I was referring  to server security,  record keeping, nation server options, UI, technical support, multi device coverage etc. You get what you  pay for and you save a dollar a week.

and I explained what was better AND cheaper. I use Browsec on 2 computers and 2 smart phones and their technical support is excellent. I used Express for the year ending last December and I think that I am better qualified than you to judge.

During the last week or so I have watched ITV racing live and 2 episodes of Martin Clunes: Islands of the Pacific using the UK server, the Australian Open live on CH9 and listened to my favourite radio station, The Drive from Chicago (which you can't listen to outside of the US). Yes, I certainly get what I have paid for!

    Why is browsec  better?

I watch quite a lot of UK TV, particularly the racing and Express's VPN kept dropping out, I was even advised by their customer relations to use their Swiss server and tune in to Zattoo to watch UK channels, which worked, but I've had less problems with Browsec and for a fraction of the price.

  8. I'm using Browsec premium, which costs $1.99 per month if you sign up for 2 years or $2.49 for 2 years. It's better than Express VPN (which I used for a year) who charge $8.32 per month. I've tried some of the free VPN's, which may be ok for watching porn, but are cr@p if you want to watch UK channels and i players.
