But since the number of cases in Thailand is continually dropping, and there have only been a handful of deaths, and nobody has it, then there really is no need for any of this stimulus, because the curfews can be lifted and everyone go back to work, right?

Damages are already done. Businesses won't be the same all around the world for months at least.

In my opinion Thailand has played a big part in the spread of this virus when they continued to allow the Chinese to come to Thailand when it was only a problem in China, Thailand then became a melting pot for the spread of the virus around the world as tourists from other countries all walked the streets together and although many commented that this was not a good idea there was no warnings issued so people became complacent in their activities. Now it is coming back to bite them for their lack of sensible judgment.

Other countries UK, EU, US, AU, JP all kept their borders opened allowing Chinese to enter during that time. According to your logic, it is only Thailand's fault.

I have a flight tonight Melbourne-London Heathrow via BKK. I've been to the doctors and got a certificate, although it's not the one on THAI website and she's stated I'm symptom free. I have travel insurance taken out a few months ago (before Covid), what are my chances of getting through? I know it's all speculation, and I'm going to give it a go - any insights gratefully received ????

Does your certificate specifically say you are symptom free of covid-19 or just symptom free without mentioning covid-19? According to Japanese passengers' experiences, they want to see your certificate specifically mention you don't have any sign or symptom of covid-19. It must have covid-19 written on it. Those without this very specific were all denied boarding.

  4. I have been checking Japanese forums and there have been reports that a few people from Japan managed to successfully check-in, board a plane and get into Thailand. Apparently THAI check-in counter didn't require an actual covid-19 tests being done, at this time at least. All they wanted to see was a health certificate stating this person is healthy and doesn't have any sign of being infected with covid-19. That means you need to find a doctor willing to write such statement and sign his name on it. Those with health certificate without mentioning covid-19 on it were denied boarding. There was a report among 15 people who tried to check-in, only one person was allowed because he was the only with a health certificate with a statement of no sign of covid-19 on it.

Airplanes are empty ... I was supposed to fly on friday , from Belgium to Abu Dhabi on to BKK . The airplanes are still flying but empty , they are bringing people home , thats all . So Thais coming from these side of the world going back , or even the westerner who lives Thailand goes back . There wont be any tourist coming in . Europe is on lockdown , and the lock is being turned on more and more as im writing this . US can still come , but they are starting to go to lockdown also , i think those tourists are also gone in next 3-5 days also . Russia remains , not 100% sure , but i think they were closing borders also . India announced today to close borders . Probably African tourists can still come there ... but we are talking 100k people ... not a chance .

????Some people in this forum sure love generalization. Of course flights from middle east are empty. That doesn't mean every other flight all around the world are the same. I just flew from Haneda to BKK and it wasn't exactly empty. Usually that flight would be 95% ~ 100% full but this time was around 60% full. Airlines do not continue to fly empty for long. Most major airlines in Asia already cut or/and reduced flights on affected routes weeks ago to create more demands on fewer flights.

you can see a list of incoming flights today here, unless you believe all these flights are empty as well:

    https://www.flightradar24.com/data/airports/bkk/arrivals

And when I mentioned close to 100K people are arriving each day, you didn't take it as these 100K people are all tourists, did you?  number of tourists ≠ passengers arriving at the airports

You work for TAT right.....or did you mean 10,000

I work for who? anyway, if you know how to check statistic, there are currently around 400 flights ± 20~40 arriving BKK per day. This is only swampy, still haven't added figures from DMK.  If you can do some basic math, multiply 400 with average of how many people you think there are on each flight. Now explain how can there be only 10,000 people arriving each day. Also there was a news on TV mentioned something about close to 100,000 people are arriving thailand each day. So the number checks out.

  7. Listen, so many bad advises here and they don't solve your problem. I understand you want to be your girl friend and baby legally in Thailand for your baby's sake. I highly recommend to contact Thai immigration lawyer and explain everything without hiding anything. It won't cost to discuss your case with them. You won't be charged until they take your case. Go from there. Good luck!!

Australian GDP is about 3% from all tourism, with about 15% of that coming from China.  Meaning about 0.5% of Australia's GDP comes from Chinese tourists.   Losing that's painful, but not catastrophic.

Thailand's GDP is about 20% from tourism, with 30% of those being Chinese.  Meaning about 6% of Thailand's GDP comes from Chinese tourists.  Supporting between 3-4 million Thai people.  Losing that is catastrophic for many.

Actually tourism is 12% of Thailand's GDP. And it is declining, not because tourism is shrinking, but other industries are rapidly growing.

  9. Thai government had been wanting weaker baht for sometime now because strong baht is impacting export performance, making Thai products more expensive thus less competitive. It may get slightly weaker, however, baht is expected to remain relatively strong this year. Whatever drops we may see caused by China risks are only temporary and I see them as the chances to make money ????
