  1. Some interesting wording in this article:-

    'The police claim.....'

    "discovered" in quotes

'prompting many Redshirt sympathisers to live under fear of political persecution'

No doubt we are in line for a procession of these grotesque charades, where things get miraculously "discovered" so people can get subsequently "disappeared".

But hey, at least 22 of the Junta's toughest warriors got a nice picture, looking menacing, for the family album. "What did you do under the military dictatorship daddy?"

It's what military juntas do; it's how they justify silencing the voice of the under-privileged.

It's a shame that so many here, who were brought up to enjoy all the benefits of a fair and democratic society, seem to revel in it.

the "sounds" of guns, grenades and bombs have no part in fair and "sound" democracy.

The red rouge has shown it's real face.

I guess more to be found soon.

Thank you Gen Prayuth for handling all this in transparent and responsible manners.

  2. I just wonder if the yellows on here will be making the same statements when they start rounding their violent thug wing!

And as for statements like thaksin and yingluck and the shin clan is finished and irrelevant.

I wouldn't be counting the chickens before they hatch!

There will be an election one day!

Don't hold your breath waiting for crackdown on yellow wing: it isn't going to happen, other than perhaps a couple sacrificial lambs to make it appear they are doing something. Remember appearances count more than reality here.

Red government was corrupt, inept, all that. But the underlying currents for their popularity will remain: people outside Bangkok(and many inside) are tired of being marginalized, seen as slaves to the old power elite. Putting all the red leaders in jail is not going to change that. New ones will emerge.

There will be an election one day, just as soon as they figure how not to count votes from red leaning populists, so that yellow can stay in drivers seat.

Yes and the rice farmers hated it when they really got paid. No?

  3. reminds me on an almost funny incidence in CM 24 years ago when a handful of DEA agents complaint in the beer-garden(with boxing shows) about children being there and selling stuff.

Police was called to arrest the complainers but 11(I think it was) of the police men go beaten up severely and they ran out of backup forces. - A couple of days later the DEA agents were sent home. It was like pictures out of an action movie.

  4. it was also here on TV I remember some time back where people bragged with their "good connections" to executives and Burmese/Cambodian maids without papers with the intent to "shag them well" whenever they feel like.

Is that relative to this issue at hand too?

  5. Maybe this stuff mixed with something else and sold as tablets or capsules? I mean like you get those medical tablets with varying strengths like 100mg, 250mg etc. Otherwise, by itself, 250mg will be just like a grain of fine table salt, right? How can you hide and retreive it later, how do the police find it? Something is very wrong with this story.

and it was 5 Mg at the police station that later mistyeriously turned into 250 Mg by the time it got to court. The police said that if she pleaded guilty she would be fined and she could go home.

There´s something very wrong going on.

Excuse me, how could anyone in any police station weigh that stuff? Do they have the equipment for that? I don't think so.

  6. Seeing the before and after photos there would be enough to put some people off doing drugs.....whistling.gif

A mother of (I think) 4 chidren sentenced to 15 years and thats all you have to say.

People get older and their appearances change.Leave her alone

it's not final yet. When she starts singing her sentence will magically disappear.

BTW, what about a sting operation of so called Hi-So and CEOs users? After caught buying publish their names (like with Paedophiles) and watch the show how life will be dealing with them.

This will reduce demand by 80% for this narcotic.

  7. This sentence is ridiculous and leaves Thailand open to ridicule on an international level.

I've seen cases where someone is sentenced to 10 years in prison for murder yet here we have someone being sentenced to 15 years for a tiny amount of cocaine. Trafficking charges and sentences should be for traffickers not casual users like this woman. Not differentiating between someone with a suitcase stuffed full of drugs and someone with a small amount in a pocket makes them look incompetent and vindictive.

For those who agree with this 15 year sentence, please compare it with the following 10 year sentence for a man who murdered someone :

Phuket expat Ronald Fanelli was sentenced to 10 years in prison for murdering bar girl Wanphen Pienjai and stuffing her body into a suitcase.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/509859-american-fanelli-sentenced-to-10-years-for-phuket-bar-girl-murder/

From this we can deduce the Thai legal systems value of life. Murder is a much more 'wholesome' and less serious crime than having a quarter of a gram of cocaine in your pocket while walking through customs.

Based on the above this woman would have got less time in prison for murdering the customs officer than for getting caught by him with the small packet of drugs.

she is most likely suspected of being an initiator in the scene rather than a mule. This is common practice in that trade. The actual smuggling is carried out by mules and other means then.

Yesterday they arrested two Nigerians who got the stuff mailed to Chonburi. Both were registered as students at RU and ABAC. I quick search and I found the registrations online for 2009 and 2011.

There will be many more to be exposed ...

  8. So there you go, the car refused to stop as ordered. Shame what happened afterwards happened. He was carrying out his duty, but went over the top and did things he shouldn't have done, but it was not about trying to get immigrants. He would have done the same to any car that didn't stop as ordered. All this stupid rumour mongering about nothing...

My only sympathy in all this goes to the poor young innocent girl who was shot by the trigger happy idiot. Get well soon.

    bad call!!!

If it was so, - what about the driver then? free pass to violate laws? Why do you blame the victims?

  9. One paper at least, this opening group G fixture looks like it will be well worth staying up for.

The build up to the match has been pretty dominated by Portugal's main man, Cristiano Ronaldo, in his battle to be fit for Portugal's first game.

The latest news on the morning of the game (Bangkok time) is that CR has been declared 100% fit to take on the Germans.

From the Germany squad, there are concerns over the fitness of Bastian Schweinstetger , who was airlifted to hospital on Sunday for tests on a troublesome knee. Phillip Lahm could move from his defensive role to to take up a position in midlfield, similar to where he has played for Bayern Munich for most of the season.

Germany played as a team, Portugal as a one man show(attempted).

  10. It's basically saying don't hang around in areas of unrest, which is common sense.

I think the most tricky paragraphs are when the country advices you "Do not travel". The interpretations are wide open. I'd not risk it when high travel alerts.

for example this one from the US

The U.S. Department of State recommends that U.S. citizens reconsider any non-essential travel to Thailand, particularly Bangkok, due to ongoing political and social unrest and restrictions on internal movements, including an indefinite nighttime curfew throughout Thailand. The Department of State has advised official U.S. government travelers to defer all non-essential travel to Thailand until further notice. This Travel Alert supersedes the Travel Alert issued on May 23, 2014, and will expire on August 21, 2014.
