This should add some fuel the argument about raising airline prices so the buses can compete. Lord knows we feel safer on a thai road... said no one ever!

Can you really trust a Thai server's security? I sure couldn't.
Im a designer and use site5.com for my hosting. You have the option of picking server locations all around the globe. Not sure what the closest server is to here but there are plenty of asian servers to choose from, even a cloud based package as well. But I use one thats in Dallas TX and it loads my sight in about 1.2 seconds here in thailand...

That stuff needs to be legalized. Chewing it or making it into a tea isn't nearly as bad as alcohol or even smoking weed. Just put a tax on it already and start profiting from this mild stimulant.

Im an american and been here 3 years. Never had an issue before. Everyone that asks where i'm from is either happy or content with it. Once a thai guy asked me and was like "ahhh... america very good! Obama! Obama!"

Love how they sneak in the part about illegal taxis when the article title refers to Land Titles being cancelled.

My best buddy in LOS is my wife.
I have drinking buddies, talking buddies, walking buddies but none compared with the connection and friendship I have with my wife.
Well it's just about impossible to have any serious conversation with a Thai so i can't see how the wife could be your best friend. Coming from totally different backgrounds , cultures and levels of education it's just not possible. I've never met a Thai in 11 years who would be capable of an in depth conversation. The wife ... lol , my misiss is as thick as two short planks. She's a great girl but not my best mate. More like a great shag and treats me like a Roman Prince.
Wow... thats just truly sad. I have a best buddy here (even though we share cultural differences, him being from europe and me the US) but I love hanging out with but at the end of the day I would rather spend most of my time with my wife. We have plenty of funny and serious conversations.

If they would have built the third runway (have a google earth look, you will see it) and a second terminal there would be no need for two airports and no one would need to get their schedules <deleted>-up and travel 50kms between two airports
Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
Even if they built that 3rd runway they would still have 2 airports.... If its such a big deal plan your flights around a carrier that doesnt fly there. Coming from Phuket I take Bangkok air so I can take the Airport Express train into the city and not have to worry about arrangements at DM. I only use Air Asia to Bangkok as a last resort but flying to KL now is amazing now that they are in the new KLIA2 terminal. You just have to put up with those tiny asian seat spacing.

The north is just suffering from Penis envy and is just crying to get attention.

The beach chairs were an eyesore? How about regulating how many and where they should be placed instead. So now tourist will be forced to stay in the sun without umbrellas and chairs? Sounds like there will be more complaints about not getting any shade than being an eyesore.
I understand the old-timers here complaining about the good-ole days, but times have changed and in order to bring in more people you need to cater to them. People want beach umbrellas and chairs, and having a beer delivered to them without having to walk half a KM to get it. Or if you do bring it with you, your second beer is too warm to enjoy.
Its good that this corruption is being taken care of but I feel like this will do more harm than good to Phukets backbone which is the tourism industry. Maybe its better to regulate whats going on instead and prevent it from spreading.
Going back to the beach chair people... I felt like they were doing a good job keeping the beach area clean because come on.. no one wants to sit in chairs next to a bunch of trash. Without them who is going to pick up the beach goers trash? This would be a great opportunity to set up an extra tax for these beach businesses that would go back into preserving the beach for cleanup/maintenance & safety.

I wonder what would happen if you try to pay with those 1/4thb coins (25 satang) as a joke.

As long as Thai Air is cutting coconuts on empty planes, its gonna happen for sure.
Best line was "Experience the Thainess..."
You'll experience the "Thainess" alright once you step into your first taxi/tuk tuk.

I almost get a heart-attack just thinking about the price of gym memberships in Thailand. Seems like they are all 3,000thb+ per month here in phuket. Back when I lived in the US&Canada it was never more than 2,000thb for a good gym. Seems strange to have it be so expensive here, maybe thai people dont like going so its only targeted towards "wealthy farangs"? I would think in the cost of living in thailand that it should be cheaper. If I were to pay for me and my wife, thats almost the cost of half my rent.

I think this Nun needs to be judged on more then what car she owns and what bag she chooses to use. It's our own issues that attach significance to these items.
There is nothing to suggest that a woman from a wealthy family cannot become a Nun, and if her family choose to give her a valuable car to drive why is that any different to a poor family giving her an old car.
Too many people are wrong to associate wealth with wrongdoing and corruption, the two are not always connected. People assume that if she has a expensive car that she must have stolen money, it's so unfair.
Well when you devote your live to religion, your supposed to give up the material world. There is no place here for a material nun.

Living in Thailand has completely ruined my idea of Buddhism. Jet set monk, pedo rapey monks, and now this LV nun... I used to think more highly of them but they are just the same as than the catholic church plagued with scandals.

How about connecting the two airports with the airport link train. That would be very be amazing.

$1500 a month in child support is absurd, especially in 1996. No wonder the poor sod left the country.
$1,500 ain't <deleted>. The loser is an executive and too cheap to come off $1,500 a month. Really? That won't even pay for tuition at a decent private school. Add in insurance, food, clothes, books, medical deductibles, toys and etc. Jail is where he deserves to be and can sit. I am sure asking him nicely to pay didn't work when he was willing to violate a court order and skip town of his his child's life.
Sad that people on here would stiff their own kid to spite their X if their X left their loser butt for a real man. If you think that way and are capable of stiffing your own kid, no wonder your selfish butt got dumped for a real man.
Public school is free and is more than free... also there are programs like WIC that pay for food... Granted the guy is a deadbeat and should have helped out but still 1,500 is excessive. I dont even think that my daughters monthly expenses exceed $100 per month.

Geez! $1500 per month? That seems excessive although he was an 'executive'..... maybe he could afford it? And to think thai mothers get like $10/mo from the government with their social security. That would be a HUGE PAYDAY if the mother was Thai to send money back home.

After 3 such incidents this psycho should be banned for life No class whatsoever !
Agreed! There is no excuse for it to happen let alone being a repeat offender.

Its just the way things are online... most of the time you can find better deals not just hotels but even electronic shops. Just be happy you can get a cheaper rate without having to negotiate. You can even find coupon codes for places like Orbitz and even get an additional 15% off.

Just have a stick with you and when they get near raise it up like you will hit them and yell "BAI" (go away) at them. Usually they stop.
The soi dogs in my neighborhood run away from me when I pretend to throw invisible rocks at them. But if you're on a bike, a stick is your best option. Most likely you wont have to hit them, just them thinking that it will happen will be enough and you wont have to worry about harming animals. -
CDs? Whats that?
Illegally... google it and you will find it
Legally... buy from itunes or amazon then put it on your iphone and connect to your "modern car" -
Couple years ago when I was in Hua Hin/Cha-Am the water was brown and cant imagine it being good for snorkeling. But not sure what its like now at this time of the year.

Judging by how power lines are managed in thailand with a birds nest of wires dangling about, I don't think I would feel that safe around it knowing Thailands low safety standards.
Korean tourist bus crash leaves one dead in Chiang Rai

"Personally, I get angry that this is continued to happen and I do smile knowing that there is one less boofhead behind the wheel"
Well for every "boofhead" dead there are atleast 20 more fresh teens ready to take their place without licenses. The cycle never ends.
