  1. With my experience, just dont advertise what you do and you will be fine. Stick to clients outside of Thailand because if you piss someone off, that is an opportunity to get the boot. Or the unlikely but possible chance of a sting oppression to catch you in the act, but then again thats very rare being a designer. I am in a similar situation and have been here for 3 years now and im 30. But are you sure you want to get married so soon? Do you have to pay the family money to marry?

My advice is to first come here on tourist visa, then do a 1 year ED visa and take thai language class, whether you go or not is up to you, but that gives you a 1 year visa. Then after 1 year decide if you want to do marriage visa. You never know if there will be too big of a culture shock for you and getting married right away here might complicate your future later.

But if you do go the married route, you dont need financial documents if you apply for visa in Savanakhet Laos. Unless they tightened that up but it seems like people are still getting that no problem.

  2. Why would you want to open up a standard bar there? There a dime a dozen. Be creative and think of something that will give you an edge. Also that T-Shirt thing.... unless you are designing some custom prints, thats another business that has way too much competition to even be worth it.

  3. Such a sad sight... This is what happens when you have a failed education system. Produces nothing but a thug mentality a.k.a... I have 1 idea to make money and thats the only way my family will survive. There couldn't possibly be anything else I could do to support my family and make money because that would be too much effort and dont know how to adapt so I am going to fight instead of accepting change....

Thats the only thing I could think of thats going on through that thick skull of there's... Just like the the tuk tuk mafia complaining that they have to do what they do because their families used to farm rice but couldnt any more because of development and they were forced to become taxi drivers and they are supporting their family so they cant support a public transportation system to help traveller safety and convenience because they are just too greedy.

Anyone know how much they are charging anyways? Im guessing the standard rate is 300thb per person? Forget Freedom beach and head over to Koh Yao Yai/Noi for better beaches just off of phuket and its only 200thb for a 25min speedboat ride. Much better beaches over there and less developed.

  4. You realize it is a Muslim island right? You have to follow their rules, there is no tolerance against infidels in Islam. I went there 2 times, I was warned by tour guide not to bring Alcohol or drink Alcohol on the island, not to offend precious muslims in Island.

Of course they can't watch you 7/24 in your hotel room or something but why bother? Just pick another island with no islamic management.

Have you actually been there? You know they sell alcohol on the island right? lol.. and it comes in buckets.

  5. Funny how they only had 18,000thb in cash when they stole so much.

Also whats with all the fake atm cards? Wouldn't it be less conspicuous to have a few and just charge them up with a new number when they run dry? These stupid criminals deserve life in a thai prison.

I wonder why they couldnt just give some tea money when in works in so many other illegal operations.

  6. Guard your money man. Sounds like this runs in the family. I would be worried about losing all your money in the future due to your wife getting conned. I dont know who you would see in a case like that but I know I would be super pissed if my wife handed out 200k on a whim. Why didnt your wife consult you before handing over a large sum like that?

  7. Well ...the baht has weakened ....so good for when I exchange money!

Because you'll need more baht as prices rise because of distribution problems and because imported items cost more in baht terms.

And if things return to "normal" and you go back to getting fewer baht for your foreign exchange, those prices will most likely not go back down again.

I dont like your tone mr negative nancy. lol. just enjoy it while it lasts.

  8. Well ...the baht has weakened ....so good for when I exchange money!

Amen to that! Last year it was 28/29thb per dollar and now its nearly 33... So for every $1,000 your pullin out of the atm, you have a little bonus of 4,000thb which is plenty for a respectful night out. Thanks Suthep wai2.gif
