  1. Thanks for that link!!

But that's what I was getting at: Bet those trailers pictured aren't cheap, and cost about the same as an old pick-up. (Like I'm guessing this one http://www.trailersthai.com/tr7.html would be around 150K baht.

I hope I'm wrong though. (Still that's a whole lot of melons or cabbages that baby can haul. :D )

Been looking for just this topic...thanks guys. But...is it just me or do these links actually lead somewhere definite as opposed to the ad trailer pages which leads no where discernible. Keep up the goode work guys. :o

  2. The Thai language part (not English) of the Toyota web site has the specs and pricing for the new Vigo now. The Extra Cab is by and large replaced by the Smart Cab and its 4 doors I am guessing will trigger another 5000 baht annually for license.

I was wondering about the possibility of the added yearly 5000B, too. Am hoping because they are half the size of the regular 4-door rear doors, then maybe no extra tax. Anyone having just purchased a smart cab, do please let us know. :o

Truck still classed as 2 door as you cannot independently open the "access" doors.

    Thank you.

  3. i remember last year there was a white ltd edition toyota pick-up.

    are they still making them?

    thanks

The white 'Exclusive' model sold out 5 or 6 months ago, but there is a minor 'facelift' model out now, who knows what will change?

That's a shame as the white was literally and figuratively 'brilliant'. Am pondering the purchase of a Prerunner smart cab...no brochures available last weekend at the Toyota launch festivities, so no idea of color options - preplanning is not their strong suit I guess. Malesh :o

  5. All of two weeks....so long for no results :o

As an information point, on 12 April I eliminated all alcohol from my diet. Prior to that I would say I was a moderate to heavy drinker. At that time I was around 90 kg...16 weeks later I am at 80 kg. No other changes in diet or exercise.

I believe you "hit the nail on the head" in recommending no alcohol.

I've lost about 3kg in the last 6 weeks by giving up my beer and a half per day. I actually and honestly usually eat very little, so I was concerned when a friend noted I had put on weight. Weight gain sneaks up on you until you finally have to confront it, usually when someone else mentions the fact as most of us do not notice the weight gain as it grows ony a few grams at a time.

I now eat only 1 small meal a day in the afternoon, with an apple or banana morning and evening; eating mid-afternoon works for me as I no longer have hunger pangs. I had tried all kinds of diets over the past year or two with no noticeable loss in weight. Giving up the beer seems to be working, for me. Nice to hear it's working for you too.

  6. I got a laptop installed with Vista and it was ssslllooowww. I gave it a full week, trying to get to terms with the slowness and the many changes "under the hood" but after that I gave up and installed XP on it. Never regretted that and not going to switch to Vista until there are no other options.

Ditto but with a new desktop. Vista continually failed to recognize my peripherals like printer, and continually refused to boot. Sticking w WinsdowsXP which runs so smooothly.

  7. The cheapest in price is the Makro brand which iscurrently 419B for 20kg: more expensive for the 10 kg bag- prices went from 390 to 490 a month ago but fell back. Shouldn't really be telling you this as prices will escalate if you all board the band wagon. But hey.... BTW, the 'save..xxx' brand is made by the same company that makes BOKDOK which is 3 to 4 times more expensive. Check the label on the back.

I have 5 Rotts so I need the cheapest of the best. I make them a fresh meal once a day of rice and chicken, or rice and eggs. I add a little mountain flower honey from Tak on occasion, along with a dry soup mix w/o the chemical. I use sunflower oil so no cholesteral. Sometimes if there is any of their rice left over, I partake. I feed them their evening meal w the Makro brand, dry. The eldest god bless her; Yin, the baroness, is 10 years old and her younger sister, Yang, is 10 years less 10 minutes. Then comes their brood - Prinz, Benz-son of Prinz, and Dame von Schwardwald also sired by Prinz.

Do not feed your pets wet food all the time or they tend to lose their teeth.

Re 'part cooking the eggs to reduce risk from salmonella transfered on the shells' unquote. Exactly right. Boil them about 90 seconds from when the water begins to boil. Remove and submerge in cool water to stop the cooking process. The dogs' coats get shinier as a bonus feature. Crack the egg over the dry meal or let them have a treat with the egg itself. I am worried about cholesteral so I give them eggs every other day.

I am a fan of cooking ALL bones they get as a treat. Uncooked meat once in a blue moon. Uncooked meat especially pork gives them worms. All the naturists advocating raw this and that for domestic petz because that's the way of the wild were not around to watch them die in the wild, not a long lifespan there- considering 'survival of the fittest.

But I tend to go on.... pardon

    :o

  8. i've seen solar panels from china. all kinds of different sizes but they were at AMORN (OHS) in bangkok. Near Phahurat area. The Old Siam shopping center. Did not look at the prices though. The Amorn stores here in chiangmai at ICON plaza and Carrefour do not carry them.

Actually the Amorn store in Chiangmai at ICON plaza does carry a suitcase-enclosed solar panel system. Was looking at it last week. On the counter on your right as you enter the room extension with sound systems.

  10. I echo Greensides' recommendation:

'Tailor: Find The Montri Hotel at Thapae Gate, go down the soi right behind it and about 50 metres on the right you'll find several tailors. The last one on the right has done good work for me a couple of times. Price for a pair of jeans or trousers about 700 baht and they've lasted well.' Compare all for available material, quality and price: methinks the actual tailoring is done by the same sewing group somewhere else in CMai.

BTW, there is a Northern-style Thai food restaurant handy there which is a gem. Cheers

  11. Check out North Wheels opposite Sompet Market.

They did me a good monthly deal, although that was 7 years ago.

I agree. Sompet is the way to go.

Caveat Emptor: Remove the signs on the bonnet or wherever as you check for scratches on the release form. After I had completed the form and was about to drive away, they removed the sign under which was a scratch. They did not charge me for it on my return. So, all in all, good. I had rented for 2 days, while a friend had rented from them for several months: straight forward folks at Sompet. BTW, ask for their promotion rate; even though there may not be an obvious one, they often have promotions in Thai magazines. :o

EXCERPT FROM 'Tree Management Systems for Profitable Mango Production' at:

    http://members.tripod.com/Shanthap/mb1.htm

Though mango flower panicles produce thousands of flowers and a lot of these pollinate, only a few, in some varieties one fruit per panicle while in other varieties several fruits per panicle, commence further development. Then the size of the crop a tree can bear is primarily determined by the tree reserve level. Excess fruits drop and this may happen at various stages of fruit development. Fruit drop is governed physiologically by the size of reserve food base in the tree and also by climatic condi tions prevailing during this time. Even if trees have sufficient reserves, lack of K or soil moisture deficits during fruit development phase or pest and disease attacks on flowers and developing fruits may act as limiting factors controlling the size ofthe final crop. Therefore, at this stage trees have to be managed very well providing all necessary inputs correctly.

  13. "Orb Karn", Hang dong - Sanpatong area...can you provide directions please? Thanks.

Also, race horses and dogs swim regularly in a small quarry on a major side road North off Chotana before Sahapanich Toyota. As one proceeds West toward Mae Rim on the 4-lane hwy extension of Chotana, just past the superhwy, take the 1st set of lights left (North). To confirm you are at the correct set of lights, as you turn left off Chotana you will see Sahapanich Toyota just ahead on the right. Having turned left proceed until you are almost at the major highway/ canal which leads right to the 700-Year Stadium another 1.5km, or left to Huay Kaew-Phucome Hotel intersection . The quarry is about 200 meters on the right side (West) of this major side road before the 4-lane intersection. You may possibly see many race horses being walked along this road back North across the canal to their stables. Disadvantage is you must wait until all horses have left.

The large quarry mentioned nearly opposite the new stadium and beside the city hall area used for the winter fair is good, large enough to avoid other dogs; be sure to choose a gently sloping entry for your dog. I use this often. My dogs love it here, splashing about just like children.

  14. Hi there,

I am looking for a product called Phase 2 Starch Blocker. Been to many health food and drug stores in CMai but no one seems to be aware of this seemingly possibly great product. Given the large amount of rice consumed in Thailand, not to mention my own liking for bread and beer with all their attendant carbs, it may offer some hope to counter excessive weight gain. Possibly this product may exist under different names. Can anyone advise, please.

    Cheers :o

    http://www.phase2.ukhq.co.uk/

    extract:

Phase 2 is an entirely natural food extract which acts in your body to neutralise starch from the carbohydrate foods in your daily diet. It is a substance which is derived from the white kidney bean and can easily be taken as a regular nutritional supplement, making it the first available dietary supplement which is able to "stop starch".

As a nutritional supplement, Phase 2 is safe and simple to use, but it is also extremely powerful. Specifically, one gram of Phase 2 has the capability to neutralise 2250 in vitro starch calories, which is roughly the equivalent of a loaf of bread or one pound of pasta. With this degree of effectiveness, it's apparent that the taking of Phase 2 allows the user great freedom to consume those starchy foods that everyone enjoys without undergoing the full intake of calories that would normally follow.

Explore these pages to discover more about Phase 2 and how it can be used to promote weight loss.
