  1. To me, at the start of the first version of the video, the first car (the so-called ‘tortoise’), is in the middle of his lane, and indeed seems to be going at a similar speed to the car passing on the left. The replay is of course in ‘slo mo’.

But then he seems to be slowing down as he moves over to his left. I can’t see his indicator going, but maybe he is about to take a turning to his left, which is out of sight to the camera, or maybe he is about to stop at a road side hot food stall.

The idiot in the pick up behind is going way too fast for those particular road conditions, and maybe, just maybe, he slammed on his brakes because he suddenly realised he was about to miss the turning on his right. As he swerves, he seems to be speeding up, not to avoid the Yaris, but to enter the turning on his right!

At the bottom of the picture, there’s a black and white pole, with what looks like a black lamp at the top. Is it one of those flashing amber lights, perhaps warning of a ‘blind’ turning coming up. If so, maybe that is what the first car is about to turn into, which is why he is slowing.

When did this trend to call MPs lawmakers begin ?

I don't recall it being used as much in the past .

“The 2016 vote to leave the European Union has deeply divided the country and sparked vicious scenes both inside and outside the House of Commons where lawmakers are routinely confronted by angry protesters as they enter the parliamentary estate.

Same, same with the expression “parliamentary estate”. Throws up an image of a rundown council estate with rubbish strewn everywhere and abandoned burnt out cars whilst menace and intimidation stalk the streets.

I don't think it will happen.

    There'll be another extension/delay.

    I agree with you.

This is an article in today’s Guardian.

“What’s at stake is not winning some stupid blame game,” Tusk wrote in a tweet directed at the prime minister. “At stake is the future of Europe and the UK as well as the security and interests of our people. You don’t want a deal, you don’t want an extension, you don’t want to revoke. Quo vadis? [Where are you going?]”

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/oct/08/eu-may-offer-to-extend-deadline-for-brexit-deal-to-summer

“He’s lied his way through life, he’s lied his way through politics, he’s a huckster with a degree of charm to which I am immune. As well as being mendacious he’s incompetent.”

Conservative former minister Chris Patten in May interview with Bloomberg

‘I think he honestly believes it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation which binds everyone else.”

Johnson’s Eton housemaster, Martin Hammond, in 1982 school report

The European politicians are not stupid. They have the full measure of Johnson. Brexit, apparently, is headline news everyday in Germany. It’s in everyone’s interest to get a deal. That’s why it’s likely there will be an extension until next June at the very least.

You can be sure they read British newspapers every day so they would have read Andrew Rawnsley’s article on Johnson in the Observer:

    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/oct/06/boris-johnson-is-still-gambling-on-winning-brexit-blame-game

Although what will happen to Sterling, while Johnson and Dominic Cummings play their stupid games is anyone’s guess!

  6. I am in the second year of an O-A visa (multi entry long stay) issued by RTE in London.

The first year ran from 29th August 2018 until 28th August 2019.

I returned to the U.K. 6th August 2019 and returned to Thailand on 21st August 2019. The IO at Bangkok Airport gave me another 12 months until 20th August 2020.

I would still have to report every 90 days at my local Immigration Office in Hua Hin.

As I understand it, during the second year, it is no longer multi entry. If I wanted to return to the U.K. during these 12 months I would have to go to Immigration and fill in a form for permission to leave and return and pay their fee.

My plan was, having paid for the visa last year, to get the full two years out of it. At the end of the second year I would return to the U.K. Then at the end of my stay there, I would apply for a tourist visa from RTE in London.

On arriving in Thailand, and after the appropriate elapse of time, I would apply for an extension of stay by reason of retirement. I already have 800,000 untouched in my account for that purpose.

However under this new directive, am I now required, over the next 12 months,  to show insurance cover every time I attend for my 90 day reporting?

    I bought a double 400 gram pack of Custard creams for a 50 P , 18 Baht yesterday

Yes but your complaint was about chocolatey things being expensive like mars bars and twix. Remember? I know it was 40 pages ago ???? but you said:

That’s why I recommended Penguin biscuits and you put some pucks in your suitcase, your Thai friends will thank you for them.

“When you p-p-p pick up a Penguin,

There’s so much more to enjoy,

it’s bigger, so chocolately, with chocolate filling too.

    When you’re feeling p-p-peckish,

What’s bigger and best for you?

    p-p-p-p pick up a Penguin.”

    No brainier, really Max ????????

Anyway, I like custard creams too. As you have splashed out on them instead, you should also get a whole load of Bourbon biscuits and mash ‘em up all together as in this YouTube vid:

It could turn out to be the highlight of your return to the UK.

You are buying them in the wrong shop. All those items are much cheaper in the UK than they are here.

Best value for money is a packet of Penguin biscuits for £1.00 at Tesco’s. Occasionally, for a short time, they are priced @£1.47, but most times at Tesco’s, it’s £1.00 per pack.

    https://www.hatads.org.uk/catalogue/record/f647d45c-d76a-4e82-97d1-3ff58e4039d0

In the advert, it’s only a pack of 6, but these days you get 8 in a pack. Unbelievable!

What’s more, they’re the still same size after nearly 50 years as in that 1976 advert. And recipe is the same too! Can you believe that?!  ... unlike Mars and Yorkie bars, which have really shrunk in size over the same period. They’re girlie, nibble bars now; nothing man size about them when you want ‘some scoff’.

I buy up loads of Penguin packs, as they fit flat in my suitcase. When I return to Thailand, I hand them out to places I frequent a lot e.g. small Thai restaurants and coffee shops. Thais absolutely love them. Definitely, ‘Aroi maak maak’ with them.
