  1. The Euro version , which we will get in England and Thailand , has 25 BHP , as you say , but with a little more torque. Disappointing he says he kept on stalling it trying to ride it out of the carpark , and it requires much clutch slip and revs. For a 70 BHP motocross bike , yes , but not a 25 BHP dual sport. This bike seems neither rider friendly , green-lane suitable or powerfull. The suspension seems good , and pretty much everything else too. So we have a 135,000 Baht CRF 250 , with adjustable suspension , a few more modern touches , and a few less KG,s. Lets wait and see what Honda try to charge for it. Such a shame Honda has wasted this opportunity by bringing out a bike that doesnt seem to "be" anything. Lets hope Kawasaki and Yamaha dont get put off when this thing bombs , and they decide to bring out decent powered bikes. They are more than capable.

  2. The Jawa 350 model , not shown here , is a fully faired classic style bike using the 400 cc single cylinder twin exhaust port engine , that is a Shineray model . Sold in Thailand as a Stallion CT 400. Also sold in England as a Mash 400. So i guess Shineray either owns , or has a business link , with Jawa.

nice looking, but lot of money for a single.

Not if its priced at 250/275 K. But who knows whats going on with Honda lately. At 150 - 160 KG , and just 25 BHP ( 40 for the version we wont get ! ) this is not a "Dakar" bike , or indeed an adventure bike  , needing oil changes every 1,000 KM and valves done every 3,000 KM. I just cant figure out  what the point of this bike is. Spend 50 K on a CRF 250 L , and your almost there. Or just buy a Kawasaki KLX 250 , that is much lighter , already has twin radiators and adjustable suspension , and cheaper.

  4. If the reports are good, I, or we,  are going next year. Kids are off school this week so the timing is good. Will read the reports from the bike enthusiasts who are actually there, then decide. Accommodation is going to be the problem, local to the circuit.

  5. AllanB. I know from experience, just how bad some Honda dealers are. Is there an independent mechanic that can take a look, without invalidating the warranty.  I'm no fan of Honda for several years, since their quality went downhill, but your bike sounds like it has a genuine problem.  You have years of riding experience, so it's not you imagining a problem. There is a problem.  Is it valve clearances, or even valve timing. Just because it's a new bike doesn't mean it can't have an assembly problem. This engine has had fuel injection problems, so is the fuel pressure correct. Does it have the crank problem as the 283cc engines do. Does the fault lie with engine balance. Has Honda used their cracked big/main bearing design on the engine. Something internally is wrong and needs a proper technician to look into it. Not a Honda clown. Good luck with it. Honda quality isn't what it used to be.

Pouring benzin in the sparkplug hole and the engine starts according to OP. That should indicate that there's nothing wrong with timing issues.

When fuel is poured in,does it start and run, or just "catch" for a few seconds. If it just briefly fires, try spraying carb clean - if you can get it or similar - into the intake. The spray will act as a substitute carb. If it runs correctly,  it's a blockage from float bowl to jets/emulsion tubes. If it only catches,  it confirmes a spark, but not necessarily at the correct time. Timing may be out due to faulty CDI, or valve timing may be out due to timing chain jumping a / some teeth on the crank or camshaft sprockets. Keeping it simple,  have you get a replacement spark plug.  And double check side stand and kill switch.

  7. I can't believe they could create a 24 BHP,  130 KG bike,   and claim it's based on their motorcrosser. So it's basically a CRF 250 L with adjustable suspension. And I bet the dealers will ask north of 250 K. If it ever comes here.

  8. Hi , i can only advise of a very good Lifan / Zongshen / Stallion shop in Chiang Mai - sorry. Ive hired a Lifan x-cross 200 dual sport and a Lifan PK110 step-through bikes in the past , both superb for the month i had them.  Cruiser / chopper type ive not ridden. Zongshen Ryuka do 3 cruiser styles , 125 @49K , and two 200,s @ 55K and 65K. Lifan do a custom 250 , but i dont know the price. Google these two companies to see what they have - not all of the Lifan bikes ( there are about 30 ! ) will be available in Thailand. Ra1 is 60K.  Lifan and "ZR" also do faired and non-faired road bikes and scooters.  Most important to find a good shop with a VERY GOOD mechanic . Who wont send you away , lol.

  9. It is related OMF. The ethanol in the fuel absorbs moisture/water , causing rusting and the blocking of the carb jets and , to a lesser extent , injectors. A full tank has less air space , so less air moisture - water - hence the recommendations to fill up , even with a plastic fuel tank. . Benzine has less of the problem causing ethanol. There are  "Fuel storage" additives and cleansers that help.
