The Jawa 350 model , not shown here , is a fully faired classic style bike using the 400 cc single cylinder twin exhaust port engine , that is a Shineray model . Sold in Thailand as a Stallion CT 400. Also sold in England as a Mash 400. So i guess Shineray either owns , or has a business link , with Jawa.

The Q-BIX is funky and cool , the Fino is cute. I like the option of ABS and hybrid power on the ( more expensive ) Filano. See what she fits on in a Yamaha showroom , and , most important , what she feels happy on. Please get a decent 1,000 Baht + helmet for her.

nice looking, but lot of money for a single.
Not if its priced at 250/275 K. But who knows whats going on with Honda lately. At 150 - 160 KG , and just 25 BHP ( 40 for the version we wont get ! ) this is not a "Dakar" bike , or indeed an adventure bike , needing oil changes every 1,000 KM and valves done every 3,000 KM. I just cant figure out what the point of this bike is. Spend 50 K on a CRF 250 L , and your almost there. Or just buy a Kawasaki KLX 250 , that is much lighter , already has twin radiators and adjustable suspension , and cheaper.

Yamaha Grand Filano would be my first , and only choice. Priced from 42K , with both hybrid energy recovery and true ABS , with twin disc brake options , unlike the Honda. Take her along to a Yamaha showroom and see how she feels sitting on it. Its compact , light , fuel efficient and has massive storage space under the seat.

If you can fit paddock stand/crash bobbins to your bike, the bobbin type stand will give more security compared to the pads on the other type of stand sliding off.

AllanB. If it's a fueling problem from the factory, decided if your going to change the exhaust, or any other modifications, then have a EJK fueling processor / tuning CDI installed. These, along with a professional rolling road tune, would help many emmision strangled bikes, not just Honda. I'm afraid I can't help you in finding where to take it, I'm in Chiang Mai.

If the reports are good, I, or we, are going next year. Kids are off school this week so the timing is good. Will read the reports from the bike enthusiasts who are actually there, then decide. Accommodation is going to be the problem, local to the circuit.

Did you check honda bigwing chiang mai already for the gloves ?
The bigwing dealer i got nearby has a whole floor full of gloves, jackets etc.
Hi. Where is this shop please.

Pepper9187. Single cylinder engines can vibrate a bit, but Allans is bad all the way up to 4500 rpm. Power wise they are not too bad, although low rev torque is low. The Kawasaki KLX 250 is a much better, lighter bike, but still not as smooth as a multi cylinder engine.

AllanB. I know from experience, just how bad some Honda dealers are. Is there an independent mechanic that can take a look, without invalidating the warranty. I'm no fan of Honda for several years, since their quality went downhill, but your bike sounds like it has a genuine problem. You have years of riding experience, so it's not you imagining a problem. There is a problem. Is it valve clearances, or even valve timing. Just because it's a new bike doesn't mean it can't have an assembly problem. This engine has had fuel injection problems, so is the fuel pressure correct. Does it have the crank problem as the 283cc engines do. Does the fault lie with engine balance. Has Honda used their cracked big/main bearing design on the engine. Something internally is wrong and needs a proper technician to look into it. Not a Honda clown. Good luck with it. Honda quality isn't what it used to be.

Pouring benzin in the sparkplug hole and the engine starts according to OP. That should indicate that there's nothing wrong with timing issues.
When fuel is poured in,does it start and run, or just "catch" for a few seconds. If it just briefly fires, try spraying carb clean - if you can get it or similar - into the intake. The spray will act as a substitute carb. If it runs correctly, it's a blockage from float bowl to jets/emulsion tubes. If it only catches, it confirmes a spark, but not necessarily at the correct time. Timing may be out due to faulty CDI, or valve timing may be out due to timing chain jumping a / some teeth on the crank or camshaft sprockets. Keeping it simple, have you get a replacement spark plug. And double check side stand and kill switch.

Ey up lad, you'll be right.

Markus, please PM me ref the bike. I'm a friend of Nungs.

Most shops should be able to replace a bulb. May be wise to get them all changed, if the others are dim. Try the superb Honda garage and accessories shop on the Kaew Nawarat road. On the right hand side 2/3 KM from the Ping river.

I can't believe they could create a 24 BHP, 130 KG bike, and claim it's based on their motorcrosser. So it's basically a CRF 250 L with adjustable suspension. And I bet the dealers will ask north of 250 K. If it ever comes here.

If you only want to buy one bike , a Filano , Aerox or N-Max are great. There isnt one bike that can do it all perfectly , so one must compromise according to budget and intended use. I dont think there are many instances where a narrow bike such as a Exciter cant follow a R3.

Im seeing "dry-brake" front brake lines. Very nice , although those ties wont work too well on the road.

I meant it in a nice way , lol. Ive owned some rare bikes and cars , and parts and expertise is often difficult to track down. Lets hope this is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi , i can only advise of a very good Lifan / Zongshen / Stallion shop in Chiang Mai - sorry. Ive hired a Lifan x-cross 200 dual sport and a Lifan PK110 step-through bikes in the past , both superb for the month i had them. Cruiser / chopper type ive not ridden. Zongshen Ryuka do 3 cruiser styles , 125 @49K , and two 200,s @ 55K and 65K. Lifan do a custom 250 , but i dont know the price. Google these two companies to see what they have - not all of the Lifan bikes ( there are about 30 ! ) will be available in Thailand. Ra1 is 60K. Lifan and "ZR" also do faired and non-faired road bikes and scooters. Most important to find a good shop with a VERY GOOD mechanic . Who wont send you away , lol.

Your vehicle repair sagas are like painting the Seven bridge , ongoing , but amusing.

If all else fails I'd also consider a scooter, but I don't like riding them so much.
Lifan also do 250cc custom / cruiser style bikes too , and Zongshen do the RAI 200 for about 65K.

The Honda should be fixable , IF you can find a good mechanic. Maybe not at the Honda mom&pop dealer , but an independent garage. Is it a rust/debris from a rusty fuel tank causing starvation ?. If the Honda is beyond economic repair i would look at Stallion models from 50K , as well as the Lifan KP / KPR 150 , about 50K , the Zongshen Ryuka Zone 200 , about 62K and the Suzuki GD 110 , which might not be any faster than your Honda , but is about 42K. All of these bikes are basic air cooled , carb bikes , but should have no problems going the distance if maintained. My above point of finding a good dealer to correctly set up the new bike for you , with a good mechanic , is most important.

Allan , youve had that Honda nearly 6 months now. Have you or the dealer managed to get it running right/smoothly yet. You said it was bad below 4,500 rpm. Has the vibrations improved any. It should have 6 or 7 BHP more than the Lifan , but not the low rev torque , which is what you said you missed. The Honda also weighes a lot more. Sad you sold the Lifan.

It is related OMF. The ethanol in the fuel absorbs moisture/water , causing rusting and the blocking of the carb jets and , to a lesser extent , injectors. A full tank has less air space , so less air moisture - water - hence the recommendations to fill up , even with a plastic fuel tank. . Benzine has less of the problem causing ethanol. There are "Fuel storage" additives and cleansers that help.

CRF450L
in Motorcycles in Thailand

The Euro version , which we will get in England and Thailand , has 25 BHP , as you say , but with a little more torque. Disappointing he says he kept on stalling it trying to ride it out of the carpark , and it requires much clutch slip and revs. For a 70 BHP motocross bike , yes , but not a 25 BHP dual sport. This bike seems neither rider friendly , green-lane suitable or powerfull. The suspension seems good , and pretty much everything else too. So we have a 135,000 Baht CRF 250 , with adjustable suspension , a few more modern touches , and a few less KG,s. Lets wait and see what Honda try to charge for it. Such a shame Honda has wasted this opportunity by bringing out a bike that doesnt seem to "be" anything. Lets hope Kawasaki and Yamaha dont get put off when this thing bombs , and they decide to bring out decent powered bikes. They are more than capable.
