1. I've been riding petrol motorbikes since the age of 14. Now at 65 years old, and with a wonky bunion that is making it a little difficult to walk/jog as well as before, I am (sensibly IMHO) considering the purchase of an e-tricycle, since I assume my ability to walk/jog won't improve as a get older! Additionally, when I start to receive my UK state pension, just 12 months from now, I will have a limited monthly budget (if I finally stop teaching science online). I could run a car, I could have a petrol motorbike, I could have an electric bicycle or I could have an e-tricycle (I enjoyed horse-riding many years ago but it's probably not a realistic option for trips to Big C...). Which works out as good value for money, and would enable me to travel around, carry shopping etc? I value my independence! I do not want to rely on taxis or win riders etc. That's why I'm thinking about an e-tricycle. I'm in Pattaya for a few weeks and I've seen quite a few older men riding these trikes. They seem to go at a reasonable speed, have room for shopping etc etc. So where's the catch!? I appreciate your thoughts and advice about buying an e-trike. Thanks
2. My BPH is managed just fine with a daily Alfuzosin tablet. I buy 30 tablets from whatever pharmacy happens to be near me,and the price does seem to vary from pharmacy to pharmacy. But since it's a medication that I need every month, it would make more sense to source the cheapest supplier in Thailand, preferably a supplier who can post the medicine to a regional address in Thailand. Can someone suggest a reliable supplier of Alfuzosin? Thanks
3. I think that 'pale green knitted T-shirt' looks awful. Has he no style? Gary comes from Leicester and so does his sponsoring company Next. I also come from Leicester and I'm happy to wear clothing that is more appropriate for this fair city.
4.
... Unfortunately he's found a set of really thick people in Clacton who are going to vote him in this time ...
Ah, so really thick people shouldn't be allowed to vote?
5. Thanks - the main problem I have is that the biggest demand for my science lessons etc comes from mainland China. Perhaps I should investigate Youku instead....
6.
... She left her keys in the bike so it was bound to be stolen by someone ...
Why?
7. Hmm, you mean we should eat them without slaughtering them first? That does sound pretty disgusting!
8. Can anyone give any $ information for what you can earn with original material? Suppose you make 200 videos, all with original material. How do you monetise this? Do you need to simply have viewers, or do you need subscribers to your channel or... or? I ask because as I get older and older, I was thinking of placing my primary grade science videos onto YouTube. I create all the content myself and each video for each science topic is about 60 minutes long. It covers the complete school science curriculum from grade 1 to grade 5, typically about 35 videos per grade. Judging from the demand for my paid online science lessons, I can imagine that many young students would jump at the chance of viewing this content for free. Your thoughts.... and advice!
9. I lost nothing - Wise refunded the total amount and sent me a new debit card. I manually froze that card because Wise again activated before they sent it by standard post (Doh!!). That card was of course stolen again, but since it was frozen, no money was taken 🙂
10. I left my old khaen in Laos (that sounds like the title of a sad ballad!) I need to buy a new one here in Pattaya. Is there a music shop that sells these - not tourist 'junk'? Thanks
11. Oh yes, and I've just bought my first mobile phone... 🙂
12. If you have been living in northern Thailand for 12 years, why have you never posted on Thailand's most expat forum? Why is your very first post of this type, no 'Hi I'm new here' post, just straight into a lengthy post about your problems. Just asking....
13. She was the mother of the couple who stole from the ATM 🙂
14. Lol, haven't seen semen for years - thanks to retrograde ejaculation. But why would I need this when I already have a bacterial sensitivity test results? E.Coli has always been the only bacteria found.
15. Don't forget the air! Pattaya has far cleaner air than the filthy air in CM (and the rest of north Thailand, Laos and Myanmar). I'm in Pattaya right now and my lungs thank me for it. As for old men living in small rooms in Pattaya, often this is a realistic option if their retirement income is low. IMHO, a room is mostly for sleeping in, so if the person is not housebound-disabled, then they can be out and about for all of the day, visiting the gym, people-watching on Pattaya's boardwalk, visiting the shopping centre, helping out at the orphanage etc etc. Life is only boring for boring people 🙂
16. Amazingly YES! Wise sent me an activated card by standard post in the UK - and they wonder why it was stolen and used to buy 200 quid of delivery food 🙂
17. When I was in the UK 18 months ago I applied for a Wise physical debit card. This card was sent to me by normal post (not registered) and Wise activated the card before it was sent!!! (Doh....). Anyway, the card never arrived and some 200 quid in delivery food was charged to the card. I discovered, (when speaking with Wise and the take-out company that (amazingly!!), one can charge delivery food up to 100 quid to a CC without any kind of verification needed. I was stumped, but Wise confirmed that delivery companies rarely make any security checks and just need a CC number entered online. Needless to say, Wise refunded my funds and then (yet again!), sent a replacement card by unregistered post to my address. Luckily, I manually froze the card on my Wise dashboard before it arrived, so that it couldn't be used. The card was stolen yet again before it arrived and attempts made to buy delivery food with it 🙂 After that, I gave up trying to get a Wise physical debit card 🙂
18. I've lived on/off in Thailand for 23 years. I have never ever visited a national park because of the 'farang' tax.
19. He speaks Thai and AFAIK he has taken medical exams in Thailand to legally practice as a doctor. (This might be all rubbish, but I seem to recall reading that somewhere!).
20. But no reason not to try it 🙂 . If it doesn't work then I'm down by about 1,500 baht, as opposed to 25,000 baht!
21. If we look at a graph of the various glacial periods over hundreds of millions of years, we can see that the Earth is currently at an interglacial period. Interestingly, the high temperature of this 'hot' period is less than was experienced in the previous interglacial periods. Industrialisation certainly has contributed to an increase in global temperatures. However as a scientist, I'm not swayed by the various efforts to achieve net-zero carbon emissions etc. It's rather like King Canute trying to turn back the sea. The Earth is somewhat 'stronger' than our puny species and you can't change a climatic effect that has existed for millions of years. If the human species is eliminated by the natural cycle of the Earth's temperature, then so be it 🙂
22. I have zero interest in the US elections 🙂 But even Blind Betty can see that Biden is senile - the same as many people of his age. It's like taking someone with dementia out of an old people's home and putting them in the White House. This has nothing to do with his politics - he should be put out 'to grass', preferably with a fence all around the field to stop him wandering off!
23. Since the UTI is always present (for years), and since it doesn't generally cause me any serious problems, I'm not keen to fork out $$$ to try to eliminate it (without any guarantee that it won't come back). I note on my culture results that Amoxicillin/Clav is the only oral antibiotic that has some effect (intermediate susceptibility) is noted on the results. So since this is about 99% (or more) cheaper than the XXXpenem medications, I'll have a go with this.
24. Thanks Sheryl - your comments about the high price are not music to my ears 😞 Unfortunately, the only 2 exclusions on my current medical insurance cover are for BPH and UTIs......
25. Perhaps they could install rainbow-coloured groynes to celebrate Pride ,(since Jomtien beach seems to be a magnet for these types). Sort of 'Come and grope my groin in the groynes..'
