  1. Whether we agree with his release or not is not the issue here. But to throw him back into prison for not recharging a battery is pure spite.

or just a loophole to get him put back inside..how he didnt get life for 40 rapes is amazing..in any country i would have thought...

For 40 rapes he should have gotten death by firing squad or maybe castration and release. Either way the cost of keeping him alive would have been reduced to zero. coffee1.gif

  2. Bernie Sanders has no chance of winning at all. I wish him luck at getting the democratic nomination though.

Didn't you and bazillions of other people say that about Clinton? And Carter? And Kennedy? And FDR? And TR? And...

Well said 1000%. I for one hope and pray that he wins the Democratic nomination and goes on to win the white house. Just like Obama did. I'm sure he would make a much better president than Obama has turned out to be. Clinton scares me, as do some of the Republicans. thumbsup.gifcoffee1.gif

  3. I don't agree that countries should be allowed to carry out penalties that are just plain wrong, without criticism.. Who agrees with the public beheading of women in Saudi ? Yes Indonesia has expressed their right to carry out the sentence, which some posters agree with. But I look at it and say that they have already been punished for 10 years in a terrible environment, but still in that environment, as a lot of people believe, they have reformed. They were only very young when they performed this crime.

Additionally if the execution is stopped it is not that they go free, they will still spend the rest of their days in an Indonesian jail.

It is true that they will not go free. However, by keeping these idiots in prison for the rest of their lives, the Indonesian government would have to pay for their keep, which is very costly.

The government is doing the smart thing. Upholding their law, not giving into sloppy governments who cannot seem to keep their nationals from exporting drugs and saving themselves the possible expense of taking care of these people until they die of natural, or un-natural, causes.coffee1.gif

  4. The dollar remains strong and will for the next few months. Must remember that we live in a financial world that speculates..., often recklessly..., so these moves (or non-moves) by TH have little bearing in the near term because the baht is pegged (mostly) to the dollar.

So either way, we should see the baht devalue to the USD in coming weeks. I think it will get back to and hover around 33THB.

    I sure hope so! coffee1.gifthumbsup.gif

  5. cant think of a stupider choice of car to do it in

All Taxi on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia are Toyota Prius , that is every Taxi not just a few, don't think their Stupid, many other city's in Australia also run Toyota Prius taxis , think about it, maybe it is not them that is Stupid,,,

Not ideal vehicle for passengers with luggage.International airport and only Prius cabs, sounds like a nightmare.

Nowhere does it say that these taxis will be available at the airport. I think they will be wonderful for around town. I'll give them a try when I visit Bangkok in July. I hope they are a roaring success and will decide to expand to other cities in the near future. coffee1.gifthumbsup.gif

I would even consider taking the train from Swampy for a couple of stops, just so I could hail one of these cabs.

  6. You forgot to mention that they would rather piss up against a coconut tree than to walk 10 meters to a toilet !

From what pathetic cultural test tube did you arise where men would think to walk 10 meters to some smelly loo rather than stand behind a convenient tree for a piss?

The tree isnt necessary from what I see by me, just whip it out and anyplace will do even seen it at gas stations right next to the bog..............funny never see the women do it though?

Well actually , I saw a woman recently walking along a main road , who just stopped, pulled up her dress ( no Knickers) and just squatted there and then , luckily I did not see if she did number 1 or 2 , as I was driving by. I think she was actually a bit Maow or Simple looking at her manner etc

Are you sure it was not a Chinese tourist? The behavior you discribe is SOP in much of mainland China. I speak from personal experience. coffee1.gif

  7. "On Monday the sergeant - accompanied by his commanding officer - faced the police and was fined Bt400 for not wearing a helmet and driving without a licence."

Only 400 baht! When smoking in the wrong place is a 2000B fine. What a joke! No helmet and no licence should be 5000 baht for the first offense, Confistication of vehicle for 2nd driving without a licence offense. coffee1.gifthumbsup.gif

  8. This report does not surprise me based on the way my local store is run.

Frozen food that is not kept frozen, rotten meat, products that are here one week and gone the next only to reappear somewhere else in the store a month later, good stuff that flies off the shelves is discontinued while the low quality overpriced stuff fills the vacent spot, etc, etc.

Thank goodness there is Tops and Makro. coffee1.gifthumbsup.gif

  9. If all of the parking spaces were available for parking, it would help to alleviate traffic congestion, just by eliminating many cars driving around in circles looking for somewhere to park.

Maybe parking should be limited to 4 hours in the daytime as well. You could employ a few dozen people to each work a small area, marking plate numbers and time seen, at the

parking spot, then ticket or clamp overtime parkers.

Better yet, tow the offending vehicle and make the owner pay a fine plus storage and towing fees in order to get the vehicle back. I'm sure things would get much better, real fast. coffee1.gif

  10. $180(product) + $60(shipping)= $240.

    $240 + 30% import tax = $312.

    $312 + 7% vat = $333.84

    $333.84 - $240 = $93.84

$93.84 total import taxes to be paid.

Where is the hostage situation, Or did you believe you could import stuff into Thailand and completely avoid all import taxes and duties ?

I agree. USPS sent, via Priority mail, approx $400 worth of suppliments at a cost of $62.40. I had to pay 30% import tax of 5,304 baht. And, I was told that if I do not get an import liscense, next time I will not be able to receive my package. This warning from the Samui Customs House. coffee1.gifsad.png

  11. Tell them Prime Minister, I never doubted your brains.

Your mouth is what I doubt sometimes.........but nobody is perfect in this world.

Yes, everyone has a brain. The problem arises when the following rule is not adheared to: Before opening mouth to speak, make sure the brain is engaged. I might add to that, Before speaking about something, make sure you know what you are talking about. Oh, wait. TIT. Everyone here knows everything about everything. coffee1.gifcheesy.gifcoffee1.gif

  12. I am looking for a really good Doctor. One who knows how to diagnose and is not too lazy to take the time necessary. I have had an ongoing cough since about 9 January and have been to a couple of clinics and Bangkok Samui Hospital. The doctors I have experienced seem to be great at telling me what I don't have. It would be very helpful to find one that can tell me, from testing, what I do have.

Does anyone know of such a person?wai2.gif
