  1. The "poverty stricken people" are wealthier than you think. But that's not the point here. The point is that young people, some even toddlers, are (ab)used to make money by begging in the bars and other places. That circle should be closed down by the "blind" police.
  2. I have read the "horror" stories about Thailand, where the Police hide some drugs in a hotel room and later search'd the hotel room and found the "drugs". The tourist was immediatelly arrested for the possesion of the drugs and extorted for a lot of money before released and put on a plane back to his/her country. More recently, similar cases where someone is kidnapped (mostly by a police officer) and extorted for a lot of money are reported in Asean Now. Like I said, life can make a 180 degrees turn before you even realize it ....
  3. Amazed by reading the replies to this topic. I know, the guy was a drug mule and drug mules are "bad" people .... I know, how many young (and old) people died of an overdose of drugs ... I know, many "Yes" and "No" to this thread ... But at the end of the story, this guy was a human who made 1 bad decision that made him soend his final year in prison and at least should have some people around him in his last few hours. Some priests who would help to let him find peace in his last hours of life. We are all humans and life can easily make a 180 degrees turn with or without or own will. I have been a social streetworker at the end of the '80's and have meet many people (most of them very young) who had become outlauwed by the society because of poverty, bad youth life, bad parents, etc. ....... but most of them have become good citizens after getting a helping hand. RIP to the guy and hope you will have a better life in your next life.
  4. Yes, sounds like me. Crippling pain at times, Chronic constipation whatever I eat or drink, etc. On top of that, I feel constantly like a balloon that will explode any moment. Does the "Nuii fiberly prune" helps to attenuate the symptoms? Do you get them on prescription or buy them over the counter somewhere?
  5. 4 years ago, while on a medical trip to my home country, I was diagnosed with the IBS syndrome. Unfortunatly, I left my home country soon after the initial diagnosis, and got no further research on this. I would like to know if someone else suffers from IBS (NOT BEAR BELLY) and what medication they have to take. TIA (also to the obvious trolls)
  6. Abusing kids in any way for their own benefit is the worst crime anyone can commit. No words for such a behavior which is worse as animals
  7. I was last weekend in Pattaya sitting in a Life Music bar right next to the Police Station on Beach Rd. In about 30 minutes time I was confronted with: - about 15 boys (guess all under 12 years) trying to sell flowers, Candy, Peanuts, etc. ALL of these boys were foreigners with blond hair. - about 5 woman carrying a baby or having a little boy/girl with them and selling the same items as above. Most of them looked like Thais, but could be as well Cambodian or another nationality. The same people came about every hour and some of them were realy nasty. Although that a Police care was controlling the Beach Rd and also an Immigration Police car driving circls, no arrest was made. Guess they suffered from the same disease as the police who was checking Pattaya for prostitutes but could find one some years ago. I don't really care for the older ones, but I find it appalling that babies and young girls/boys are used for their benefits. Did Paveena retired?
  8. I was this weekend in Pattaya and Jomtien, and almost all the grils I saw looked like they were in their 9th month of pregnancy. Also, most "girls" (even in a gogo bar) were over 45 years old. Post Covid Go-Go "girls".
  9. The Russian man could not understand that the Ladyboys were talking like a man and walking like a woman ... He reported to the Police: Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy But when she squeezed me tight, she nearly broke my spineOh, my LolaLo-Lo-Lo-Lo-LolaWell, I'm not dumb, but I can't understand Why she walks like a woman and talks like a manOh, my Lola
  10. I have a lot of "dead" batteries, which I collected over the years. Not knowing where to deposit them safely, the collection grow now to a box size. Is there any place in Thailand where I can deposit the batteries? TIA
  11. I agree on the second part of your post. But I strongly disagree in the first part. Immigration, anno 2022, has still no clue what happens with your Visa or whatever you have been doing. This year in my Visa extension, the officer noted that all my extensions were "Non-Imm" or "Retirement" and she wanted to see which type of Visa was in my passport when I first entered Thailand. Needless to say that I could not comply with that requirement as I need to handle my old passport over to the Embassy each time I get a new passport. Immigration had no possibility to go trough all my previous Visa's or re-entry permits. Luckely, I could get a copt of my first Visa trough the Thai Embassy in my country and that was enough proof for immigration. Besides, Immigration where I live still uses an illegal copy of Windows. Every time I go there, on right bottom of the screen a message is flashing: "Please update your windows version".
  12. In 2018, I returned to my home country for an urgent (heavy) surgery. I had already a reentry permit in my passport, so, no need to go to immgration or ask one at the airport. Just do the whole process and get in the airplane. After 3 months, I decided to return to Thailand. But I was very weak and could barely walk 10 meters. So, I asked "wheelchair help" from the airport. This was granted and I was transported to the airplane (in my country) in an electric buggy. The buggy passed almost all the checkpoints, barely stopping. Landing at Suvarnbhumi, a lady holding a bord with my name, was waiting for me with a wheelchair. From the wheelchair, we stepped over to anothe buggy and off we went. Passing all the checkpoints, barely stopping. At the passport control, I pointed out to the lady that I had a reentry permit. The lady gave my passport to the immigration officer and a few seconds later we were driving to the luggage collect point. While waiting for my loggage, I noted that the reentry permit was mot stamped and I had a stamp with the date and "Suvarnabhumi" airport. No "Visa on arrival" or whatever. Next year I went for my Visa extension, and my Visa was still valid. Maybe, it was because I was escorted by the airport officials, but I could have done the same process without reentry permit. So, my question still remains : "What is the purpose (value) of a reentry permit" when you have a long stay visa?
  13. I am aware of what you say, but if you have a valid visa, would it not be easier to leave the kingdom and re-enter without requiring an re-entry permit every time? I don't see the benefit this requirement has for Thailand (except lots of paperwork).
  14. What's the point of getting a re-entry permit and all the hassles the re-entry permit brings with it? As far as I understand the latest entries in this forum, TM6 are not issued anymore and I was answered by immigration that it is not required anymore to report when re-entering the country unless you change your residence. Is it not easier to skip the re-entry permit also?
  15. Last year, April 2021, I received a new passport and updated the passport at information in several places (Visa transfert at Immigration, Bank account, etc.). But I forgot to updated the passport information on my Drivers Licenses. Today, at a police checkpoint, the police officer told me that I needed to update my DL. Can I go to the DL department and ask for an update of my existing DL's? Do I need to bring again all the documents for a DL or is my existing DL enough? TIA
  16. Everywhere in the world, crossing a road is a Russian roulette game. This Swedish man shot the bullet and died. Next life better luck.
  17. Murdered 1 goat and 3 cats? DEATH PENALTY Put the snake on the BBQ!!!
  18. Sad, but nothing new. I remember the story of the Karen girl who went to the police and the police brought her back to the people who poored hot water over her. And the Rohingya people locked up on an island somewhere in the south controlled by the army. This is Thailand. If you seek real help, don't count on the police or the military.
  19. Is that the same hotel where the Kyzghikistan woman chosed to jump from the highest floor?
  20. Death sentence is a little bot harsh for this crime. I would drop her with her hands and feet tied, into a river. If she drowns, she was not the murderer of the children. If she manage to swim to the shore, she is a witch and shall be burnt to dead.
  21. In order to fine somebody, he/she needs to be caught first. And when caught, the police will need to write a ticket. So, the Thai people (if caught) will need to do the double of push-ups and the foreigners will have to pay the increased fines.
  22. It has been proved in several countries before that increasing the fines is NO DETERRENT for not obeing to the rules. Only a change of attitude towards these rules makes people accept them and obey (more). This whole charade about increased fines fall into deaf ears when the gross of the population deant's even have a Driver License or gives more to superstitious beliefs than to actual traffic rules.
