I really miss Canada Dry ginger ale.
Salt and vinegar potato chips.
Licorice red and black ones.
The one thing I hate here is when they put the Thai stickers over the English labels. And those stickers are impossible to remove.

Tanning booths don't actually profess to tan ones dick!
Some go to tanning booths so as to condition their skin if going on a winter holiday in a hot sunny climate. Don't want to get a sun burn on their first day there.

Grew up 60 miles from Detroit on the Canadian side. Use to listen CKLW which drove my mother crazy. All that great motown music and latest pop rock music was the greatest back then. Miss them times.

If I. Had a water leak in the house I would know it as the pump would be running for no reason. Don't need anyone telling me I have a leak.

It's not just Bangkok. .Rayong too. Every thing gets so damm dirty. Got to clean the windows once a month. With the louvers in the kitchen everything gets dirty that's hanging on the walls. Feel like buying a dishwasher to give everything a nice hot wash. Wife has her shoes outside on a shelf and got a plastic covering on it and it's getting black from the air. Neverending job here to keep things clean

well she does now, she might even have to work in a real job to help pay the bills instead of swaning around in a bar surfing facebook getting drunk and partying
Many Thai girls (just like westerners) work hard but there are also many that don't and are generally lazy
You are right. There are some on my wife's family that are lazy as a pet coon. (That racoon so don't take that the wrong way)

You wouldn't be so chipper about it if they'd used steel instead of brass for the fitting that comes out of the wall for the tap, and it rusted and broke off flush. Have to smash the wall back to replace the fitting at the pipe, then plaster and new tiles. I've been there, done that.
No didn't have touch that nut only the one connected to the tap.

No I was talking about family and friends. Anyway tell me what wrong with saying hello to people. It just common manners.

Perhaps ask your son if you use sawadee cup to a cashier, after they wai you.
A low wai is optional, as is perhaps a "thank you" in Thai. I'll assume you know how to say thank you in Thai.
Well I discussed this with my wife. She said it is ok to sawdee. But I am not talking about a cashier. It is when one of her family comes over for a visit and they Wai me because I am elder to them and i greet them with a hello or sawdee cup. Perfectly ok.
Yes I know how to say thank you in Thai.

Totally wrong, I hope you are a tourist. They are doing what they've been told to do.
Sorry ..not a tourist. Married with a six year old boy. Well maybe you can educate me on the proper way to respond.

So what is a foreigner supposed to do when receiving a wai from a store clerk or some other "junior"?
Wai back, ignore them, or flip them the bird?
From what I. Understand is just nod to them or say sawdee cup and that is sufficient.

Just don't put your phone number on the Internet. If you are selling products just have a form that can be filled out.

This should be required reading to all first timers coming to Thailand. Well done op.

You know doesn't want to give up his position. Why doesn't he just declare himself the prime minister and get it over with. That's what Castro did in Cuba. Then we will see what the Thai's will do.

Our seat broke and tap at the sink was leaking. Wife told the landlady and she brought the replacement parts and said they would send someone to fix it. Told her no need I can do it.
Cripes you guys the toilet seat only requires two plastic wing nuts to secure it. A kid could do it. The tap was bit harder as nut wouldn't turn. A couple of hard raps on the tap and rotten metal broke right off. Replaced the new hardware and Bob's your uncle.

These young kids do the same thing only worse at spring break in the US.
The cities are trying to clean up this behavior for awhile now.

Fact check needed re no house built like that in the west - total BS. Yes, they might have been built on stilts in some flood areas, or to house the buffalo underneath, to keep the wild life out and for cooling.
Saw them building houses in Louisiana. They are on slabs of concrete.

You can carry 7/11 coffee cups by holding the bottom of the cup in the palm of your hand, that bit doesnt get hot .
The cups are also not free , if you just want a cup , you have to pay for the intended content as well , even if there are no contents
Maybe some coffee places should adopt the Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons paper sleeve that fits over the coffee cup so you can hold it comfortably. Works great no need for two cups.

I used to have the required amount for the retirement visa but have decided to just use my yearly pension statements as proof of income. I now have the marriage visa. Can't see tying up money you can't use. Plus who knows what is going to happen in this country with present so called government. I will keep my financial investments in my home country.

It works both ways. Go back to a cold country in the winter and you.will be freezing. Takes awhile to get use to it. People who don't spend anytime outdoors are always freezing. My ex was terrible for this. I would say let's go for a walk...no its too cold. In the summer it was too hot.

Would be interesting to see the US women play against NK women. Would make for a lot of news.
