It's a bit odd that posters who have these failed to mention it before.
I suspect it isn't in the sales brochure either.
What isn't in the brochure??
That it can't go past 9000rpm.
You mentioned the Cbr250 recline/limiter. Personally I have hit the
limiter once and that was early on in riding the bike. I then realized
that there was absolutely no reason to rev it so high as I had already
gone past the power peak.... that's what its all about at the end of the
day ..... power.
Really? I ride bikes for fun. I love bouncing it off the limiter. Whenever the road opens up, *bam* off the limiter in 3rd at around 105kph, *bam* off the limiter in 4th at around 120ish(?), into 5th and you're flying. Roll-ons until limiter-bouncing is great. Good wholesome fun that puts a smile on your dial.
I suspect that many who buy the CBR500 (as it looks like a sports bike) would also be so 'fun' inclined.
Of course lots of riders out there are boring riders, and of course there's nothing wrong with that. It would be odd of them to buy a bike that is presented as a sports bike like the CBR500 though.

Thailand is for fun.
There's a reason I'm never going to be robbed by the Thais.... I don't do any sort of business with them, or in their country.
Isn't it funny how many smart educated superior Westerners get fleeced by uneducated simples with farmdirt still under their fingernails, time and time again.

The 18-year-old is unlikely to be extradited to Thailand because of the death penalty.
Let's see is Sweden does a better job than the UK re: Lee Aldhouse.
Maybe you should re read the last couple sentences of the OP!
Yes, that's one of them.
-
Many people have mentioned peak power is 8500rpm
Sure, the same as its p-twin competitor, the Er-6n/f..... Redline 11k rpm.

^ Oh sounds like you are comparing it to or had visions of it being the same as the superbike range that is called cbr rr, obviously thinking like that you would be dussapointed Sent from my GT-P7500 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
No, I was originally disappointed to see it had a redline around 9000rpm. And not like the 250 @ 10.5k rpm or 150 @ 11.5k rpm.
I think everybody was, tbh.
Now upon learning that on top of this the rev limiter kicks in bang-on at redline at 9k rpm, and not at least 1k after like the 250 (11.5k) or 150 (12.5k), it is doubly disappointing.
It will of course suit some people, and not others. As long as those thinking of buying one know what they're getting.

So there is some good technology in this security system not bad for what a lot offpeoPle pn here call a cheap basic commuter bike I'm a little more impressed by this bike now.
TBH, the first thought that crosses my mind is, well, what did they scrimp on to put that in and still meet the cheap price-point.
Personally I'd prefer a bike with 100% of production cost going into the bike, not a fancy security system.
The N250 looks better with every post about the 500 series to be honest.
id say thats just negative thinking ,what did they scrimp on probably nothing it was never specced to be a top spec bike in the first place.
Negative thinking, you could well be right. TBH though, I wouldn't care for such security systems, and on a cheap bike would prefer the cost of it to have been spent on improving the build, quality and parts.... That's just me though.
i cant actually believe you are being so pedantic about the limiter / redline,
Not pedantic. Just surprised and disappointed.
In the probable words of TonyBKK : "A CBR limited to 9000rpm. <deleted>?!?!?"
-
Where is the redline, there is the limiter in most modern bikes maybe little bit more rpm above redline in some cases but not that much. So when we post something about redline, many bikers with basic knowledge on bikes understand that rev limiter is over there somewhere. When i am posting something, i assume that people have some common understanding on bikes here which more of us here do unlike you and OP i guess.
I'm afraid you're vastly incorrect if you think that most bikes are limited at redline.
Most are at around 1,000-2,000 past redline. Big difference, especially on a bike with such a small RPM range anyway.
No need to get upset about it... Though I would be interested in a short list of modern bikes that have limiters at redline, if you have the time to inform me.
As long as every one planning on buying one knows what they are getting: A bike that cannot go past 9000rpm. I think buyers of the CB500 and CB500X wouldn't likely to be too disappointed, but those buying the CBR500 thinking they are buying a sports bike would deserve to know.

Charges of 'damaging Thailand's image' have been made.

Wonder how many drunken machete fights will be on the Channel 3 news on the first night.
-
Checks by Police revealed that this property has a long history of burglaries and at least 6 cases had been reported to Police over the years and each time the occupiers would move out because of this.
You'd think the landlord would wise up and make the property more secure by now?
Perhaps the landlord somehow benefits from such activities.

Is this the wife on the phone:
"Somchai you idiot, you forgot the computer monitor on the table, we could flog that for an extra 1,000 baht."

how badly the attack has affected Thailand's image, prompting local police to hurriedly investigate it.
Far more important to the Thais than an old man farang being badly beaten....
Don't forget your true value to Thais.....

Hmmm, they go out for the night and happen to leave $60,000 laying about in an empty property?
Were the banks not open prior to this to bank the cash?
To top it all off the couple go around destroying possible forensic traces.
Yes, very astute business people.
Perhaps the wife is, if you know what I mean.

^ We're discussing the limiter, not the redline.
A link to where it was previously stated by an owner that the CBR500 is limited to 9000rpm??
Thanks in advance.
Edit.
Just went to the CBR500 thread and searched using the words 'limiter' and 'limited', nope, nothing in there. Not one owner mentioning that it is limited to 9000rpm.
Perhaps check things before posting, man.

Songkran, How Do You Feel About It?
Fantastic observational opportunity for studying the Thai cognitive process.
I foresee 498 fatalities due to buckets of ice-water to the face of blind-drunk motosai riders while they have 3 pillions and no helmets between them.
Will they start to learn, this year? Chances are less than minimal, Bob... Sit back and observe the retardedness.

who are we to tell the Thais, how to run their country?
They're not.
They're venting on an Expat internet forum.
You don't know the difference?

Oh great.
Another few months of overhearing the Thai conversational masterpiece of Raawn Mhak 674 times a day, whenever a Thai sees someone they know.

The guy seems a bit nuts, but interesting, I presumed the limiter would be 1-2k rpm past redline. It being limited at 9k is a bit sucky, to say the least. At least on the version they dressed up as a sport's bike.
anyways do you know about the 2011-2013 cbr250r and 2011-2013 crf250l if its the same deal there?
CBR250 redlines at 10.5k and limiter is at 11.5k. Don't know about the CRF.
I've always found that limiter-bouncing is fun little hobby when the road opens up.
cause the cbr150r fi dont have no rev limiter what i know about.
I'm pretty sure that isn't true. It redlines later than the CBR250, I think at 11.5k rpm. I would be surprised if it isn't limited at 12.5k rpm.

^ I'm sure it has enough get up n go.
Doesn't take long to hit 97mph.

Coors Light 24 pack cans = 32.99 (989baht or 41 baht per can)
Expensive.
It's 5b a bottle here:

The average wage in Thailand is about 20,000 baht/month, and Thais live on that.
Who on Earth would want to live like that??? (beside the millions of Thais who are forced to live here on less, and weirdos, of course).
I rather live on 20,000 baht a month in Thailand than 60,000 a month back home. I have been a teacher here making 20,000 a month and if you are careful, you can still live pretty well.
Both tough and difficult. If you are ugly or just prefer paying straight out for sex, then certainly.
I think you have misunderstood. I'm not including investments, savings, etc in the 40K we spend here. 40K isn't our salary, it's what we spend here. If I travel to NYC, I spend $5-10k per month, Easy to spend in NYC. There is nothing to spend money on in CM. Even the shopping malls don't have anything worth buying. I thin you have some kind of complex where you have to come on forums and prove you're richer, better than others. Good luck with that.
To clarify, I'm pointing out that Thailand is cheaper than the UK. If the OP's friends came from UK to Thailand and think it's expensive, then there is something wrong. Relative to Western countries, Thailand is extremely cheap. Why do you think it's so popular with backpackers. Anyway, last word from me. I'm happy, you're obviously not. You'd wouldn't be on here trying to prove how better you think you are otherwise. It's funny to listen to people like you though.
Oh okay, so you're not including holidays, trips, returning home to spend US$10,000 p/m, investments, savings or anything else in your monthly cost model.
Gotcha.
