Agree with LivinLOS above.
You can't stop him using the law anyway. No laws prohibit smoking in open places.
If that's again the rules in your condo, then try speaking to his landlord if that worries you that much.
I have no opinion on the original post but I believe that you are misinformed about smoking in open places as smoking is banned in many parks in Thailand.
I am a smoker and firmly believe that if all people , smokers and non smokers were a little more considerate to each other we would never have needed laws for this type of thing.

Nice to be appreciated........ what a complete crock !!!!!
-
Utter nonsense of course - they only impounded cars from people too skint to bribe them which is why the figure is so low- in a few weeks or so, we will no doubt have the annual debate on whether or not to close all the bars for Songkran - another round of nonsense discussion - it is of no consequence what laws they pass or what crackdowns they have if they are incapable of commanding sufficient respect to enforce the law and this lack of respect for the police is far and away from being a farang thing.

Does anyone know of a reliable agency that can process a one year business visa for the People's Republic of China ?
I have a UK passport with a Thai retirement extension and wish to avoid having to spend 2 days in Bangkok doing it myself as I live some distance away.
Any help gratefully received.

I think you have been stitched up but don't get into any illegal protesting as it can end badly for you - remember that a bullet in the head only costs around 50 USD so be very careful.
Proceeding with a police report or going to the Consumer Protection Board would seem the sensible option and remember to stay calm at all times.

The truth of this tragic occurrence is unlikely to ever see the light of day so what is the point of all the speculation. ?

I cannot see the point of decentralizing corruption to a more local level - the entire force needs radical change and nothing short of a new start with a clean slate and a totally radical change of philosophy will do the trick.
A revised legal system would also help

Been doing the same thing for years - what you do is not the business of the IO and she was wrong.

Wouldn't it be easier to just go and try one ?

A complete fit up - LOS police should hang their heads in shame , but they will be too busy spending all the money that changed hands.

As usual Costas - a piece of nonsense.
All relationships are different and work or not for different reasons - mine is certainly not the business of either yourself or this forum

How many more times ? It is not that difficult to play by the rules people !

Since every person capable of even semi-intelligent and independent thought knows this is a fit up, I would have thought he would appreciate the help of any reasonable outside professional policing - he could hold his hands up in the air , blame some lower echelon police personnel , save face and let the innocent fall guys carry on about their business whilst arresting some seriously unpleasant HISOs.
Still he is an army man and obviously knows all about policing - maybe while he is abroad he could recruit Inspector Morse to sort out the troubles in the South.
-
It is of no importance who is doing what to whom and whose methods are better.
what is important is that two innocent men not be made to pay for the crimes of 2 SOBs who think they can get away with murder because they are connected.
SINCE THE VICTIMS WERE UK CITIZENS it seems apt that the UK government are playing their part and hopefully a responsible result will be the outcome.
We all know who did it as love 1012 pointed out in his post, so let us hope they get their just desserts.
While they are at it they could also lock up the Red Bull low life and throw away the key.

Time to forget the movies and understand that in reality, any single one person on this planet will confess to anything they are instructed to confess to under torture - trust me on this because I've been there.
There are many forms of torture that leave no signs at all on the victim and impossible to prove.
It should simply be globally illegal to prosecute a criminal case based on any confession as there is no way to prove that the confessions were not extracted under duress of some description.
The burden of proof should be laid squarely at the feet of whoever is prosecuting and no case should be allowed to proceed without proper evidence, regardless of whether a confession is available or not.

Locks, alarms and safes are only to stop people who don't really want to get in - any scouser can tell you that

Find people who are related to someone else with who you have business so that it is not just themselves that are affected if they perform badly - got my maid through my caddy at the golf club and the gardner through the maid - no problems for years.

Having lived in 4 countries including Australia, it is an over regulated, over taxed nanny police state but it does have nice beaches and ability to earn good money without an education
UK is the same without the beaches and the money making opportunity .

Another example of the peaceful religion of Islam - how much longer does the world have to listen to their total BS before our eyes actually open to the threat.
If a non Muslim committed some of the crimes they say are in the name of Islam , it would lead either to indictment in the International Criminal court or sectioning and a life in an institution for the criminally insane.
Wake up and smell the coffee world - non Muslims have a right to live a life free of forced indoctrination and terrorism and it is about time we started some payback.

If your vehicle is registered in Bangkok then there is no need - anywhere else you are technically obliged to reregister if your permanent address changes to a different region.
The same is true if you purchase a vehicle second hand from another region.
The paperwork is quite extensive ( imagine that in LOS ) and there is, of course, a fee involved and a vehicle inspection.
You are looking at a day unless you know somebody there however for a small fee there are places where they will do all the messing about for you which is by far the simpler option.

More evidence to support my claim that gardening is dangerous and it is easier to pay someone to do it.

borderrun at landborder with multiple non-o visa
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Land border at Sadao only takes about 10 minutes to do border run and is seamless nowadays - flight to Hat Yai is cheap and there are cabs that will take you there and back.
