  1. Well if you understand German you can read on his Facebook that he was deported and blacklisted in Thailand. He has been home and traveled around what he calls "working" and he keeps saying "I have big money" which from his begging I guess. He thought before he was banned for life but turns out he is not and the ban expired and he is planning to go to Pattaya soon and it seems he has people there who actually like him biggrin.png Lots of posts about him looking for prostitutes wherever he travels.

I think he might have problems "working" in Pattaya :D

  2. I did a same day fly out/in to Hong Kong. Cathay pacific and Emirates have 4500-5000 THB return flight tickets or about 13000 Business which I did.

On return the IM officer did ask me why am I coming to Bangkok and I am married but my visa expired so he asked why I don't have a visa but I said my passport expires soon (in May) so I will fly home anyway and he did call another IM officer over to tell him I have no visa but he just shrugged his shoulders and I was stamped in (30 days) with a suggestion I should get a visa.

They might ask you something but doubt you will have any issues getting back in.

  3. I have an Amex card and use it all the time in Tops, Tesco, Villa market, restaurants, pubs etc.. Sometimes they don't accept it but that rarely happens.

Why I like Amex so much is actually the customer service. But my card is not a Thai amex card but an EU country Platinum amex so maybe there is a difference. Few years ago my card was skimmed and over 10k Euros taken within a few hours and they just called me to ask me if I was in Japan (That's where the charge came from) and i said no and that was it. I got the 10k charge on my next bill but they said just pay the rest and they covered it all without me losing a single Euro.

Customer service has always been great even when I was unable to pay the bill of about 7000 Euros for 2 months past due because of some cash flow issues they were understanding and did not cancel my card. Another thing is on certain ATMs cash advances are only 50THB compared to the normal 180THB per transaction. They also sent me a replacement card free of charge to Bangkok with DHL. Arrived here 2 days after I requested it.

I still have a local Visa debit card and a Mastercard just in case but don't really feel safe paying with those as I know getting a refund would be a nightmare.

  4. I got 5MB/s once on one torrent few days after install on AIS fiber but it feels like after some time they as True throttle torrents so now rarely get over 1MB/s and most of the times a lot less.

But then during the download I connect to a VPN and it instantly jumps to over 1-2MB/s so obviously it is AIS messing with torrent downloads.

  5. I had a Non-O multi entry visa based on marriage which expired and now I am on my 60 day extension for visiting Thai wife.

My parents are arriving next month and I they are able to get me a new Non-O visa in my home country without me being present.

So if I send them my passport and they bring it back I would have a new Non-O visa in it while never actually leaving Thailand.

Would this be an issue if I left Thailand once my extension is over with a new visa in my passport and then return and enter using that new visa via Bkk airport?

    Anyone done this before?

  6. I have the 50/20 package with free AIS playbox and HOOQ for about 2 weeks now.

Before had True 16/1 adsl package and while it was ok AIS is much better so far.

I used to get WiFi drop outs on the 2 IPADs my kids and I use and now none of that but this was probably the True router causing some issues. Also had internet drop outs once or twice a day where I had to wait a few minutes to open some sites and keep refreshing and slowdowns in the evenings and none of that now.

Speed on AIS as advertised to local servers. Can stream youtube in HD on 4 devices at once without issues.

Obviously Thai connection to the world isn't as good as a EU 50/20 package would be but so far I am happy with the upgrade and change.

Got up to 5.9MB/s on some torrent files.

This is all in a condo in Sathorn district.

  7. True for sure limits torrents. I go on VPN and it jumps to 1MB/s I get off VPN it goes to 10KB/s :P

And other then the weekly TV series and 1-2 movies per week I don't really download that much.

Also lately it keeps happening I can't open websites for 10-20-30minutes then all goes back to normal. Annoying.

I am thinking about switching to 50/20 Package with AIS fibre but not certain yet as I haven't read many reviews.

I asked AIS about it and they said there are no limits on torrents or fair use policies on this speed but obviously there are some as I doubt they would be ok with me doing constant full speed downloads.

  8. btw I did this today on my 30 day visa exempt entry and did it about a year ago on my non-o visa.

Last time I had my marriage certificate but they said I should have another paper from the Amphur but will allow it this time.

Problem is I don't know exactly the name of this document (kor something) but after the last extension I got it and today they did ask for it an luckily I had it with me.

The marriage certificate has number 3 at the back and this other document has number 2 on the back.

  9. So I did the 30 day visa runs to Poipet all this year.

Didn't plan to fly back home until July and get a new non-o visa so was wondering is it possible to get a 60 day extension on my 30 day visa waiver entry due to visiting a Thai wife/child.

I now have 5 entry stamps back to back from Poipet border and one from the airport when I flew to Singapore at Christmas so would that be an issue?

If I do it for visiting the child can I do it alone? I know if it is for the wife she also needs to go as I did an extension of my now expired Non-O visa and she had to come.

Also what documents do I need other then the picture/copy of marriage/birth certificate and passport copies?

    Thank you

  10. Well not exactly the same but when I was with wife and kids back in Europe they would come check a few times a year. Local police would come every 2-3 months ask questions and once a year when the visa renewal was due even some agent from the Government intelligence agency would come over sit and talk with us for 15-20 minutes. Seems normal to check up on foreigners but every few weeks seems a bit too much but TiT :)

  11. What about if I got 2 passports from different country (from europe) ?

I use one passport for go outside and use the another one to reenter ?

Don't do it. It can really backfire and cause a big problem if you are not very careful.

I read a report of a man spending 4 days in the slammer charged w/ forged docs, perjury and suspected terrorist activities.

On CNN web site pretty sure. Oh, I think he tried to transfer one of those stick-on visas to his other PP.

    'nuff said

    ~

I don't believe you can change passports at land borders, but changing passports in the air can be useful and perfectly legitimate. I've done it before myself. I flew out for the express purpose of changing passports to the one I wanted to use for retirement.

I did this a few months ago. Had a visa that expired in my non EU passport that does not get 30 days visa exempt permission to stay and flew to Singapore. Entered Singapore with my EU passport and flew back to Bangkok same day on my EU passport to get the extra 30 days.
