What they should do is test everyone when they get off the plane. If everyone passes on the plane, let everyone quarantine at home for 14 days. Give them the App if necessary.

But, if anyone on the plane tests positive for COVID.. then the whole plane has to go into government quarantine for 14 days either at a cheap government facility or one of these higher end options at their own cost.

Yeah get everyone have a test 48 hours before flight and then test at airport on arrival. Then just self isolate for 14 days. Seems like a good and safe compromise.

  2. I'm in the same situation but on a vise exempt. I did one normal 30 day extension which is valid until end of this month and i wanted to do a 60 day extension (wife/kid) this week so i get until end of June.

Wonder how certain it is that after these emergency extensions are over i will still be able to do the 60 days extension ? Not sure they even do any extensions now on tourist visas and visa exempt entries? and if the do them where? Normal CW government complex or the new temporary one near by?

  3. Are several months of transfers from overseas to my bank enough for a first 12 month extension?

If i just transfer 50+k/month to myself from overseas is that OK? Or is there more proof needed about the source of the transfers?

And if i continue to do this every month around the same date for a year i can get another extension based solely on that?

I think i have read before that they sometimes ask for more proof like work contract or some proof of overseas pensions etc..

  4. Well this is interesting.

I arrived Feb 25th (visa exempt), extended for 30 days (non covid extention) until April 24th and planned to do another 60 day after this for visiting Thai wife/child.

Reading the announcement i assumed my permission to stay is automatically extended until April 30th and probably until May 30th as i do expect them to extend this as country is on lock down and then after that get a 60 day extension if i can or leave the country if not possible. Now technically i arrived before March 26th but did a normal extension until April 24th.

Maybe I should just try the 60 day extension before April 24th then ????

    Live report :

"Just back from CW after getting tourist visa exemption extension. Arrived at 6.45am and got entry number 700! By 8am that was almost double! Thankfully counters opened at 7am again, and I was all done by 11.15am."

Well that seems impossible but i guess no reason not the believe ????  7am to 11:15am = 255 minutes = 2.75 people per minute (one extension done every 22 seconds). Sure i messed that up somehow ???? I did these calculations when i was waiting there on Friday and had number 636 ???? Arrived 1pm was done 7:30pm.

Did they convert most of the desks to Tourist extentions? Not just the 3-4 K desks?

You can still apply for a Non-O based on marriage without financial proof in Vientiane, or Savannakhet.

The downfall is that you'll have a Non-O Multiple Entry and will have to leave every 90 days. But you can extend it to 15, or even 17 months.

I am aware of this. I was just asking hypothetically that this way of extending is possible only for people who have lived in Thailand more then a year already before going for the extension based on income since they have to show 12 monthly transfers from a foreign bank to a Thai bank.

  7. Today i extended my 30 day visa exempt entry in Bangkok for an extra 30 days.

Never did a TM.30 and was granted the extension without any questions.

Only provided the form, passport and passport copies. Had the lease for the condo in my wife's name but did not give it to them and nobody asked.

I have not stayed in a hotel at all these 30 days but in a condo and the IO did read the condo name from the form and i confirmed that is where i am staying.

While i waited i did not see anyone that was sent back with their passport to get a tm30.

This was my first visa exempt extension this year (if it makes any difference)

Overall was quite empty compared to other times i was at immigration.

Arrived 8:30 and was out at 9:35.

Busiest were the Tm.30 desks but seemed to move quickly and by the time i was done (number 22) the tm.30 desks were at 95 already.

Just thought i'd share if anyone is wondering.

  8. Sounds like an awful waste of time only because people working there don't know the rules.

Isn't there some place to complain? I mean obviously the reason you were denied is not valid since there is a grace period.

I do have another related question to this kind of extension. If someone gets a Non-O for the first time and comes to Thailand. And now after 3 months wants to extend this for 1 year based on marriage he can not use the transfer to Thai bank method? Since in theory this person has only been in Thailand for 3 months on his non-o entry and couldn't have possibly had transfer for last 12 months since he did not live in Thailand before this and did not have a Thai bank account before.
