  1. For buying other cryptos with Bitcoin on many exchanges you do not have to send in any verification's of your documents so being a US citizen is not an issue unless you want to buy it with fiat currency. Try bitfinex or poloniex if you have bitcoin or eth already.

  2. I entered Thailand on a visa exempt entry.

After 30 days i went to immigration to extend for 60 days for visiting Thai child.

Since i was missing some document needed they suggested i get a 30 day extension (which i did) and come back before that expired with all the documents and get an extra 60 days.

Now my question is if that is possible? I always thought after one extension there are no more possibilities to extend again without leaving the country.

The immigration officer which i asked several times to make sure we understand each other said it is possible if the reason for extension is different. So first 30 days as tourist and second 60 days for visiting Thai child.

Anyone know if it is possible or not?

    Thank you in advance.

  3. In short yes it is good :) I am happy with it.

Been using it since it came out in my old condo and moved to a new place and been using it here for 6 months and no issues.

Don't know how much BW i am using monthly but with 2 kids streaming videos all the time and me sometimes downloading 5+GB files i am sure it ads up.

  4. Rent: 106m2 - 2 bedroom in Bangkok near Central Rama 3 i pay 20k (studios from 8-9k)

Internet and tv a little bit less then 1k (AIS 75/10 + basic tv package)

Electricity bill: 3.5-6k (4ACs with one at least running almost 24h and now that kids are off from school another one so that's why the bill this month was 5700, 3PCs etc..)

The rest i guess depends on you. I have a wife and 2 kids. Wife is self sufficient and i do not support her in any way other then i do pay rent and the basic bills for the family.

I guess if i divdied by months there is also the school which is about 10k a month paid twice per year and insurance for the kids about 4k a month paid every 3 months.

I probably spend a total of about 60k sometimes more if i go out at night or we all go on holiday so lets say about 22.000 USD/EUR per year not including any international travel which easily for 4 people goes to 100k+.

So for me with 2 kids 60k is getting by and 100k is comfortable without worrying about money at all.

  5. Hi,

This is not directly related to the Jomtien immigration but got a similar question about Bangkok immigration office.

I wanted to get a 60 day extension on my 30 day visa exempt entry for the reason of visiting Thai wife.

Now i planned going on the 17th but seems they won't be open so I can go on the 18th but i need to be finished before the noon break because my wife has a flight to catch later that day and won't be back till the weekend and it seems it might be super crowded and not sure will I be finished before noon.

My permission to stay expires on the 23rd this month which is a Sunday. So reading the posts above since immigration is not open on the 23rd i could go for an extension on Monday the 24th without an overstay fine and should be able to extend without issues?

    Thanks

  6. Not sure about UK but German embassy does offer the normal passport which takes a few weeks and then there is the 1 year validity passport which takes just a few days and also emergency passport but that is basically to travel back to Germany. As far as i understood it the 1 year passport is valid for any travel not just back to Germany.

    Maybe UK offers something similar?

  7. Rented many times just never in Thailand. Check about insurance. That would be my main worry when renting in Thailand and is it full coverage or you have some excess you need to pay if there is damage since small damage done by you or others is very likely specially if driving/parking in Bangkok for the first time. Do you need an international drivers licence and do you have one? Not sure about insurance coverage if you only have the normal (non international) one issued from your country.

Other then that you need to have a credit card that can handle the 4 week rental charge and probably an extra 20-50k depending on car that the company will ask authorization for and block that amount until you return the car.

  8. They have something similar at Bangkok immigration but looking at some people there 2 weeks ago it doesn't seem to be enforced. Saw two young foreign women dressed like they were on their way to a nude beach and tons of backpackers with their huge backpacks and obligatory flip flops, shorts and sleeveless shirts.

  9. Yes i understand that extensions of stay are done at immigration and visas are issued outside of Thailand for entry. I meant i will do the extension of stay at Bangkok immigration. Bad wording on my part :)

So since the consulate does not have a standard form for this i can create one by myself  stating the total income for the past 12 months which i would sign and get it validated? Any special things that need to be on there? Like source of income?

Once again thank you so much for the help.

  10. Got a few questions so hopefully someone here can help:

    - Is Savannakhet the only Thai embassy/consulate in the region that still issues Non-O (marriage) multi entry visas without financial proof ?

    - Are others in the region that still issue single entry Non-O (marriage)  visas without financial proof ?

    - My Country does not have an embassy in Thailand but the one in charge for Thailand is located in Jakarta. There is an honorary consul here who will basically stamp and sign almost anything for his fee :) So would Thai immigration accept either of those to stamp and sign my Proof of income affidavit letter for the 1 year extension  based on marriage? Do they ever ask for extra documents? I could get incoming funds statement  printout for last 12 months from a non Thai bank if that would be needed? But it would just be a print out of my online statement so no stamps etc..

    - I have now extended my Non-O visa (expired already) for another 60 days for visiting Thai wife/child. After this i do need a new visa, correct? I can not extend this again for one year if i get the income letter?

I thought about going to Savannakhet after my 60 days extension is over but a bit worried they will also stop issuing Non-O visas soon without Thai bank statement. Thai consulate in my home country already stopped issuing those. Is it just like extension  THB 400,000 that is needed in Thai bank at other local Thai embassies to get a Non-O visa issued or less?

Thank you in advance for any help.

  11. I know something similar happened to people i know. There were 3 people in car. One was an old 60yo woman and two 40 something men. One of the men secretly stashed a bag of illegal pills under the seat without others knowing. To cut the story short. It was found by police and all 3 got jail time even the man guilty admitting it was him. The old woman was out after 6 months due to bad health and the other 2 men stayed in jail for a few years until they were both released at the same time.

  12. I did it a few weeks ago with a Bangkok Bank debit card. Took about 24 hours to get the visa. Printed 2 (one for entry one for exit) and just gave one when entering and one when leaving Cambodia. Did not staple them in passport as it is just messy with all the staples from Thai immigration.

  13. There are several advantages to me but  biggest advantage for me personally is safety and that money is not taken directly from my account and i can contest it easier.

Example: Several years ago somehow my American express card info was used to incur a charge of over 10000 Euro somewhere in Japan and i have never even been in Japan.

So if it was a debit card i would be out 10000 Euros of my personal money in my account and i would have to fight to get it back but since it was an American express credit card  they handled everything and i never had to lose any of my own money or time dealing with the issue.
