The "new" immigration for tourist visas is almost empty. Left home around 9am today and back at 11am. Spent around 30 min or so there.

So went this morning and all in maybe 30 min later i was out with 60 day extention starting after the end of the amnesty and valid till November 25. I did not see a copy or photo place to i recommend have all the docs ready. Fill in the form at home or you have to do it outside in the sun.
So for anyone interested. Entered in February visa exempt. In March extended 30 days (normal extension) till April then amnesty began and now extended 60 days for Thai wife/child until November 25.

So it's not very crowded? How do you get there using BTS?
It felt almost deserted. All the outside chairs were empty. Seemed to be more staff then foreigners. This was around 2:30pm.
Not sure about BTS and what is the closest station. I drove there.

If you want google maps to lead you to it just put your destination at the red circle and it is super easy coming from central Bangkok via tollway. Easier then CW as you get off tollway and one red light later you're there. Then just go under the tollway bridge and follow the signs. There is J and K building both not far from each other so even if you go to wrong one it is a short walk. Both buildings were empty today afternoon so no wait times. I drove there and was quite easy to find.
-
Short version: arrived and was asked if i have an online booking. Without it couldn't even get into the building and was sent home with a booking for tomorrow.
It all was a bit strange and i feel gonna get there tomorrow and have the wrong booking or something ????
I was under the impression that you can get an appointment online or just go and wait like you normally would. Apparently you have to have a reservation eventhough the building is empty. There were literally maybe 10 people inside at about 2:30pm but i couldn't get pass the door.
Also you have to make a booking for "applying for short term visa" not for extension of tourist visa (was done for me by staff as he said many make a mistake and book wrong). If you do this wrong i was told would get sent home too. You need to go to K building for applying for short term cisa not J where it says Tourist visa extensions. So back there tomorrow with a 8:30 - 12:00 booking time and will update if it went as planned (visa exempt, did one 30 day normal extension and now on amnesty and want to do 60 day for visiting wife/kid).

They told me I have two chances:
- book a 60 day visa extension at Muang Thong Thani in the 25th of September, wait until 14 days left in the extension then try again
- change TM30 to my wife’s condo (she owns it) in Samut Prakan and go to the immigration office there and start again
Sorry to hear about them being so picky specially in this situation. I never get a receipt for my condo payments just an ATM slip. But the rental agreement is on the wife's name.
So the 60 day extensions when on tourist visa are done at Muang Thong Thani after all? Ubonjoe earlier said these are done at CW.
But they did confirm that 60 day extension is possible while on tourist visa/visa exempt and under amnesty? Also why wait till last day? If you get it now it should start on the 26th anyway?

Yes
It falls under a different category of extension than those for visa exempt and tourist visas.
Ahh ok. thank you. I will probably go on Tuesday so lucky i read this ???? As i thought the deciding factor is the type of visa/entry not type of extension.

The 60 day extension to visit your wife will done at Chaeng Wattana. Muang Thong Thani only does extension related to entering visa exempt or tourist visas.
So even if entered on visa exempt or tourist visa if requesting a 60 day extension (wife/kid) I should go to the CW immigration not to the new one ?
I thought all Visa exempt/tourist entries need to go to the new one.

Did anyone in Bangkok get a 60 day extension for visiting Thai wife/child and who was here on a visa exempt entry (30 day entry)?
I should mention that i mean people who are here on amnesty extension and were able to do it this month in BKK. I have used my 30 day extension before the amnesty and still in theory can use the 60 day one.

Thailand is a bit of a poophole, if it weren't for cheap women women of lower expectations there's not much reason to come here. And yes I realise the usual sad and confused crowd will be upset, but they all seem to be living with a Thai woman, life in denial must be wonderful. Maybe I should replace 'cheap women' with 'women of lower expectations', but I expect they'd still be sad or confused.
I've never understood why the few odd western women wash up here, when they get to the stage where they're telling me they can't find the right man, I always excuse myself saying I have to meet my 20 year old Thai girlfriend.
Same for the schoolteachers, they could be earning decent money and a pension in their home countries, plenty of demand for schoolteachers in the west.
A lot of assumption in your posts formed by your life experiences. Just like you assume i am a woman. Not everyone is the same as you and has different reasons for doing things.
Why you feel superior toward others is beyond me.

Do you mean like ...... your son came here as a sex tourist, and you came here to be with him.
I do know one elderly NZ lady that did that, unfortunately her son promptly died, leaving her stuck here.
Not sure what kind of circle of friends you have and people you associate with but no that is not what i meant.

I know it is hard to believe for a lot sex tourists and sexpats but there actually are other reasons to stay in Thailand than just bars and bar girls.

I did not have to show house book in the past. Last time i did this was late last year. So things might have changed.
Did need rental agreement which is in my wife's name and a copy of the condo owner's ID.

Hey all,
I am also planning my 60 day Non-O extension to buy some time for long-term options.
My question is if a rental contract is always required?Over the next month I'll be at an airbnb, while looking for a long term condo. Could I provide the address and say I am staying with a friend? Or is it absolutely necessary to have a rental contract.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiencesI have had to provide a rental agreement and copy of owners ID every time. Plus marriage/birth certificate for wife/kid and the wife/kid have to go with you. It is easier with a kid as there is no questions and extra signing of papers and most IOs like kids ???? they might ask where is the wife but just say she had to work.
Some people live in hotels but those also provide rental agreements.

The visit is mandatory in most of the provinces.
60 day extension is granted on the spot and i have never had a visit from anybody. Probably did 10 or so 60 day extensions in the last few years.

"and being away for a month including quarantine would be a huge problem"
Where are you now?
I am in Thailand but i would have to leave and come back. I assume all in a month or more away.
There is also supposed to be a school holiday that time (after sep 26th) but with the late start of school they said no holidays this year. If there was a holiday i could take my kid with me and come back with him and just stay in quarantine together but as i said it seems no school holidays this year or maybe just a week.

I am aware of the requirement of being married or having a Thai child (i qualify on both and did these on both grounds in the past).
So there are no Bangkok CW immigration reports about this yet?
I do have a sick child i take care of almost all myself and being away for a month including quarantine would be a huge problem but doubt that would make any difference with IOs.

Have not seen a report yet of someone on an expired Visa Exempt or Tourist Visa applying for the 60-day extension of stay. Of course applicants would have to meet the application criteria, i.e. providing evidence of still being married to a thai wife or having a thai dependant child.
But the 60-day extension of stay can be done for ANY type of entry or extension of stay.
See excerpt from police order 327/2557, and note that it does not mention Visa type.
Yes in normal circumstances i have done it before on past non-o and visa exempt/tourist visa but with this amnesty and that info graphic they published short term visas would have only 2 options to extend (medical/embassy letter)
Tried 60 day extension for visiting wife at Muang Thani
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Yeah probably. I would prefer to go back home see family for a few weeks but doubt that will be possible so no choice really.
But i was not asked anything at immigration about my plans if that is why you are asking ????
