I have done this probably 6-7 times in the last few years and first time i did myself also.
I leave Bangkok around 3am and there around 6am and usually back in Bangkok by noon. But that is with my own car.
If you can get there early so you don't get stuck waiting to exit Thailand and Enter Cambodia.
Not sure what small fees other mentioned. Other then the Cambodian visa there are no other fees you need to pay unless you don't want to wait on the exit from Cambodia then usually a 100 or 200 fee will get you stamped right back after entering Cambodia. I usually just put in my earphones and open music and ignore everyone around me asking stuff and just keep walking.
It isn't difficult but very annoying and always a long wait when entering Thailand. Usually about an hour waiting in line but that can't be avoided.
If it is Poipet there are few steps.
1. Exit Thailand
2. Walk across the bridge and cross the street to the right and enter the building where you get the visa. I believe latest is 1000-1200 or something. I forgot exact amount.
3. Stay on that side of the road and keep walking until you get to the Cambodian entry point. Fill in the form they give you there and wait in line.
4. Once exit you have to cross the street but last time there was some big construction site so you have to walk about 200-300m then cross the street and then walk back on the other side of the road.
5. Wait to get stamped out
6. Go the way you came from if the construction site is still same as before. If not then just walk back in to the no man's land and past the casinos. Once again cross the street to the left and just follow everyone.
7. Get you immigration form outside the Thai border building and walk up the stairs. Fill in and wait.
8. Get stamped back in and take a deep breath because it is over
9. Go back wherever you came from
This was last time i went which was probably 7-8 months ago. These days i just fly to Hong Kong

UberX is mostly cheaper than a taxi and there is one more that offers female drivers for female passengers. Might be All Thai Taxi.

By the looks of him his holiday budget for the week just went to the police. That's why he looks so worried.

I just did a "border hop" yesterday on the Aranyapratet/Poipet border. I have a multi entry non o visa based on marriage.
I had the option to fly out and back, do a land border hop or extend for 60 days.
Late at night decided for Poipet. Thought a night drive might actually be enjoyable and it was.
I was looking for the border opening times online and found different reports from 6-8am but I was there at 6am and it was already open.
There was short line at Thai departure (10 min total) then walked over to get the Cambodian visa and I was the first one there so got my Visa in 5 min or less. Paid 1200THB.
Then walked over to the Poipet Arrival, filled in the card and had 4 people ahead of me in line. Another 5 min. Immigration officer asked me where I was going I said right back and he offered to stamp me right back so I don't have to walk to departures but declined.
After this walked out and had to go around some construction site to get to the Departures and there had to wait another 10-15 min and then again the same way back and you exit at the same place you entered just on the other side of the road.
Then walked back to the Thai side and of course there was a long line as always. This was always the longest wait in the 4-5 times I did this last 4 years. So after about 45min or so it was my turn. Immigration officer looked at my passport for 2-3 min, didn't ask any questions and stamped me in and I got another 90 days.
Back at the parking and in the car by 8am. So just under 2 hours for everything and I was back in my place in Bkk at 11:30am.
There was no traffic at all on the way there since it was the middle of the night. On the way back light traffic until Bkk where according to GPS i lost about 20 min in traffic.
Overall not a bad experience and mostly because i went alone and didn't have to wait another 2 hours in car for wife to do her shopping at the border market
If anyone cares total cost was about 2000THB. 1200 for the Cambodian visa and less then 1000 for the petrol.
Much cheaper than flying out as i usually fly business class and about same as extending for 60 days at Bkk immigration but got extra 30 days.

Well if you understand German you can read on his Facebook that he was deported and blacklisted in Thailand. He has been home and traveled around what he calls "working" and he keeps saying "I have big money" which from his begging I guess. He thought before he was banned for life but turns out he is not and the ban expired and he is planning to go to Pattaya soon and it seems he has people there who actually like him Lots of posts about him looking for prostitutes wherever he travels.
I think he might have problems "working" in Pattaya

I did a same day fly out/in to Hong Kong. Cathay pacific and Emirates have 4500-5000 THB return flight tickets or about 13000 Business which I did.
On return the IM officer did ask me why am I coming to Bangkok and I am married but my visa expired so he asked why I don't have a visa but I said my passport expires soon (in May) so I will fly home anyway and he did call another IM officer over to tell him I have no visa but he just shrugged his shoulders and I was stamped in (30 days) with a suggestion I should get a visa.
They might ask you something but doubt you will have any issues getting back in.

You can believe there are no underage girls working in these "farang" bars but that doesn't make it true.
Some of you who visit Soi4 might have noticed the most popular bar in Nana being closed for a few weeks now.
Probably not this man involved but there was an undercover foreigner involved.

I have an Amex card and use it all the time in Tops, Tesco, Villa market, restaurants, pubs etc.. Sometimes they don't accept it but that rarely happens.
Why I like Amex so much is actually the customer service. But my card is not a Thai amex card but an EU country Platinum amex so maybe there is a difference. Few years ago my card was skimmed and over 10k Euros taken within a few hours and they just called me to ask me if I was in Japan (That's where the charge came from) and i said no and that was it. I got the 10k charge on my next bill but they said just pay the rest and they covered it all without me losing a single Euro.
Customer service has always been great even when I was unable to pay the bill of about 7000 Euros for 2 months past due because of some cash flow issues they were understanding and did not cancel my card. Another thing is on certain ATMs cash advances are only 50THB compared to the normal 180THB per transaction. They also sent me a replacement card free of charge to Bangkok with DHL. Arrived here 2 days after I requested it.
I still have a local Visa debit card and a Mastercard just in case but don't really feel safe paying with those as I know getting a refund would be a nightmare.

I got 5MB/s once on one torrent few days after install on AIS fiber but it feels like after some time they as True throttle torrents so now rarely get over 1MB/s and most of the times a lot less.
But then during the download I connect to a VPN and it instantly jumps to over 1-2MB/s so obviously it is AIS messing with torrent downloads.

I agree with this and feel the same way. I often think being a single father would be much easier and less stressful.

Relax I was not attacking you i was just asking. I do not believe everything is legal that is why I asked which part is illegal.
Ok I understand now. Forgot about the exit stamp for the consulate hehe
Thanks. Was just an idea I do have other plans but just had that "brilliant" idea so wanted to check
-
Ok but what part is illegal? The consulate issuing visas without me being present?
I legally entered the country and I am legally here and I would exit legally before my extension expires.
-
I had a wrong date once and it was very easy to change and took 30 min of waiting and maybe 10 minutes for the officer to change it as he checked with immigration where I entered then just crossed the old date and stamped a new one.

I had a Non-O multi entry visa based on marriage which expired and now I am on my 60 day extension for visiting Thai wife.
My parents are arriving next month and I they are able to get me a new Non-O visa in my home country without me being present.
So if I send them my passport and they bring it back I would have a new Non-O visa in it while never actually leaving Thailand.
Would this be an issue if I left Thailand once my extension is over with a new visa in my passport and then return and enter using that new visa via Bkk airport?
Anyone done this before?

I have the 50/20 package with free AIS playbox and HOOQ for about 2 weeks now.
Before had True 16/1 adsl package and while it was ok AIS is much better so far.
I used to get WiFi drop outs on the 2 IPADs my kids and I use and now none of that but this was probably the True router causing some issues. Also had internet drop outs once or twice a day where I had to wait a few minutes to open some sites and keep refreshing and slowdowns in the evenings and none of that now.
Speed on AIS as advertised to local servers. Can stream youtube in HD on 4 devices at once without issues.
Obviously Thai connection to the world isn't as good as a EU 50/20 package would be but so far I am happy with the upgrade and change.
Got up to 5.9MB/s on some torrent files.
This is all in a condo in Sathorn district.
-
True for sure limits torrents. I go on VPN and it jumps to 1MB/s I get off VPN it goes to 10KB/s
And other then the weekly TV series and 1-2 movies per week I don't really download that much.
Also lately it keeps happening I can't open websites for 10-20-30minutes then all goes back to normal. Annoying.
I am thinking about switching to 50/20 Package with AIS fibre but not certain yet as I haven't read many reviews.
I asked AIS about it and they said there are no limits on torrents or fair use policies on this speed but obviously there are some as I doubt they would be ok with me doing constant full speed downloads.

I have the Samsung 9 series. Pretty similar look to the Air.
http://www.samsung.com/us/business/computing/laptops/NP900X3D-A03US
But someone mentioned Samsung isn't selling laptops on Thai market anymore so maybe hard to get here.
I bought mine here but late last year.

Well every Uber car that picked me up so far was with Green plates so these are not private cars but limousine service cars. Even some hotel cars picked me up a few times.
So not really a private whoever wants can be a driver like everyone is saying.

Good to know.
I'm thinking about doing a run to Poipet or to extend my non o marriage visa here in Bkk for 60 days. 90 days at the border would be better for my January travel plans.
-
How would you prove the child is living with you, specially if it is to young to confirm this him/herself?
For example the child is registered in the blue book at his mother's home but lives with you in a rented condo?
-
If you are doing the 60 day extension for visiting wife make sure you have the khor rhor 2 not only the marriage certificate. Probably also for a 1 year extension but haven't done that so not sure. They asked me for it yesterday.
-
btw I did this today on my 30 day visa exempt entry and did it about a year ago on my non-o visa.
Last time I had my marriage certificate but they said I should have another paper from the Amphur but will allow it this time.
Problem is I don't know exactly the name of this document (kor something) but after the last extension I got it and today they did ask for it an luckily I had it with me.
The marriage certificate has number 3 at the back and this other document has number 2 on the back.

I'm just back from Major Hollywood. They officially start work at 10:30 but at 10 they were already open.
I did a 60 days extension for visiting wife and did all in about 1 hour.
Overall I find the experience much more pleasant then at CW not to mention much closer.
-
I need to do my photocopies and picture taken can I do that at Major Hollywood before they open at 10:30?

I think mine is around 700 with some discounts. It does include a TV box with 100 something channels. But Speedtest isn't really the best test. You should try testmy.net for more accurate results.
