  1. Reminds me of the alleged communique to Victorian police some years ago - "Warning shots should go over heads, not through them."

Australian police are not allowed to fire warning shots, they are trained to shoot centre mass (middle of chest) with expanding projectiles to minimise the the projectile going through the body and hitting a bystander the same reason not to fire a warning shot even in the air could still result in the death of an innocent member of the public

  2. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Being white, then it is ones birth right, if you happen to be yellow, it's just too bad fellow and to be black, accept it as a matter of fact. The mighty man dictates your dealt hand so when you again stand in line, don't whine - just remember better luck next time.

AS Wiston Churchill once stated "to be born white and English is akin to winning lifes lottery" I tend to agree with him.

  3. When I first went to this market a couple of years ago we were told that I have to display a sticker on my shirt to show I was there with a Thai girl and it was no charge.

Last year my daughter was here with a friend and we took them to the floating Market we were stopped at the entrance by a scruffy young lad who demanded 200 baht each, I showed him my drivers licence and said that one of the girls is with me and the other with my Thai girl friend expecting not to pay and get a sticker, he just barred the way in and demanded the money, I looked past him and saw the place was almost deserted and said to him look the place is empty and we have come here to spend money, he started to get angry so I told him what I thought of him and his market and we managed to spend our money in a place that does not charge us for the privilege. Needless to say we put off anybody that is thinking of going there.

  4. I have finally my sim-card registrated. At DTAC they asked for my working permit. I told them for registration, you don't need a workpermit just your passport.

They told me it was company policy. So I called with the main office. Their answer: "No problem, you can do!" It still took me 5 hours to have it registered at DTAC.

I just showed them my driving licence in and out in 10 mins

  5. The wild west, but with 10,000000 known guns. What do you expect.

So if the killer never had a gun the guy would still be alive, I don't think so it looked like a pro hit and a knife or machete would have done the same job

As the saying goes guns don't kill people, people kill people and have been doing it way before guns were invented

  6. I had an insect bite that infected to a painfull swelling, I had it cut to release the poison and had to go back to the hospital every day to get it scraped out and repacked with anti-biotics for over a week, needless to say the scraping of the wound was very painfull, so I feel for this poor lad seeing the size of the wound he had, besides insurance, the lesson is don't wait too long to seek medical help, infections get out of hand very quickly in the tropics, I have lived in the tropics most of my life and seen many wounds turn into ulcers and worse

  7. I lived in Inala in the early 70s direct from East London, it got it's bad name then from the courthouse in the suburb as cases were always reported from " Inala courthouse", it was then a basic English enclave of migrants and we never felt unsafe in fact I never used to lock my car and we slept with windows open with only insect screens attached.

The demographic changed in the mid 70s to early 80s with the kids getting to teenage and the ensuing problems that that brings, the asian invasion ( boat people ) coupled with a down turn in the economy

  8. I bought some groceries at the 7/11 in Soi Wat Boon Jontiem and when I left the place I felt a tap on my shoulder and a Thai guy gave me my wallet that I had left on the counter, there are honest people everywhere

  9. Well I don't get on the thing to make conversation either, but compared to London where I am from or Chicago (where my wife is from) it's a somewhat sterile and miserable experience.

I can see that unity and friendliness is encouraged here! smile.png

You say you are from London, it does have a wonderful underground system but the filth of the carriages and the rubbish on the floors make me need a bath after travelling on it and the body odour of some of the passengers is obnoxious, I know England is a cool climate but surely deodorant and bathing more than once a week is not to hard.( I am a born and bred East Londoner but left 44 years ago to live in Aussie and now live in Thailand ) and was shocked at the condition of the London underground and not a rubbish bin to be found anywhere.

I travelled on the sky train a couple of weeks ago and was impressed with the standard of cleanlyness of the carriages and the passengers and they have rubbish bins under the seats, people were polite and if you smiled at them they smiled back without any embarrassment, the young gave up their seats to the old and pregnant and were well behaved.

  10. A bullet coming down might leave a mark if it hit someone but I doubt it would hurt.

    Still silly thing to do.

Your ignorance of ballistics is quite common, a projectile shot straight into the air ,almost impossible for a human to do reaches it max hight and then begins to tumble to earth at around 300 feet per second enough velocity to penetrate a skull. how ever a projectile shot at a slight angle will maintain its velocity until it hits the ground. Research is easy these days with google and other search engines, maybe a good idea to practice it before making uninformed comment.

Check the deaths in the U.S.A and the middle east from celebratory shooting into the air

  11. When will people learn never to buy off the plan, if the building is not finished completely stay away from it

Off the plan was big on the Gold Coast in Australia many years ago so many lost money when property slumped and prices crashed and they owed more than the property was worth.

Basically off the plan works like this the developer does not have the funds to complete the project so he effectively borrows the money from you by selling off the plan at zero interest rate, if he goes belly up you lose it all.

Another way they get funds is to complete a project but hold back the deeds (chanotes) of the condos sold and lodge these with the bank to secure a loan for the next project again if they default you lose everything.

When I bought my condos I handed over the money when they handed me the chanotes at the land office

Do not trust the slick talking sales people at the temporary sales office on a building site 90% of them downright lie and the other 10% don't tell the whole truth

BUYER BEWARE is a great saying never to be forgotten

  12. Any sane professional police officer knows NOT to fire "Warning Shots" into the air! Those bullets do come down and could injure or kill some innocent victim. Much better to shoot the warning shots into the perpetrator. In the video it appears he is shooting at the perp. not into the air so I'm assuming the "Khaosod English" writer got his or her facts wrong.

A falling bullet could kill??? A lot of imagination here.

Seems the Thai police are better trained than I imagined, and not shooting to kill. A knife is a lot more dangerous than a toy pistol, for which a child was killed recently in another Western country.

If this had been in Melbourne, the crazy guy would be dead.

No imagination needed a bullet fired absolutely straight into the air ( almost impossible for a human to achieve) will reach its limit and tumble back to earth at around 300 feet per second one fired at an angle as most are, maintain their velocity and can and do kill people, just do some easy research on google, then you don't need imagination just facts.

    OK. point taken.

However, this is the 21st century, and the falling bullet could travel at 100 metres per second. No idea what feet are.

Most shooters measure the velocity of their bullets in feet per second not in metres per second, U.S.A still use yards and feet, pints, quarts and gallons

  14. Just goes to show the training these police have, the idiocy of shooting warning shots in the air to try to stop a knife wielding nut job, the bullet shot in the air comes to earth with enough energy to kill anyone it hits, so to do so is putting the public at risk and is never done in professional police force they are trained to shoot centre mass of the body i.e. the middle of the chest with expanding projectiles to limit the bullet going through the body and injuring a member of the public, never a warning shot.

I remember about a year ago the bib were trying to stop a car, so decided to stand opposite each other and fire at the tyres as the car sped by. One took a bullet to the leg what a joke

I was a certified pistol coach in Australia I taught, fast draw I.P.S.C. ( combat scenarios ) all the N.R.A. matches and service matches, I would love to see how these guys are trained before they are allowed to carry a gun.

They even have to buy their own guns so the all have different guns with different calbres, shooting a variety of projectiles, I doubt they have been trained to look after and maintain their weapons, most police forces have gone to the Glock .40 and some the Glock 9mm easy to shoot ,easy to maintain and a double safety feature
