I'm not surprised Thailand doesn't want to take these people in and i'm not sure that it should, as all the neighbouring countries have a responsibility to deal with this situation - not only Thailand.

Considering how many coups the army has staged since 1932, why would anyone be surprised to find the army had made contingency plans to overthrow every government just out of habit; even for governments that already had army commanders as head of state.
