  1. Yesterday I get FTT transfer to BBL

Before this, on Monday called UK support line and created transfer guided by support. I also asked them my email to TAG my account.

Transfer was very slow, until on Thursday they said they solve some tech problems but can't guarantee transfer to BBL.

They sent transfer 9 AM Friday (as usual +- 30 min at that time) and it arrived 2 PM (as usual +- 5 min) with SMS notification and proper code.

Now I believe they do some system upgrade. While they can't guarantee the transfer will go to BBL directly, this is their partner bank, and they (I hope) will not want to loss a lot of income. Let's see what will be in August.

Anyway I look for alternative now. TW WAS good 5 months in a row for me, but not anymore.

    TW's main customer base

We don't know how big their real base. The fact is, 2 pensioners and 1 married expat will bring $1000 US profit / year to TW. Just 3 people. And there is probably thousands of them

If I the owner of TW and someone tell me the 10-20++k people will bring me xxxx $$$$ just if I implement specific transfer route, then my dev team will work 24hrs to implement this. TW actually have 3 different transfer methods, not just "send and forget"...

  3. Finally

TW transfer arrived at my BBL account with proper FTT (phew)... There is always SMS come when INTL transfer arrives, and always around 14-00 - 14-05 Thai time...

July is "closed" as monthly INTL transfer, have one month to look for other solutions. TW not reliable. Unfortunately my sending bank not allow SWIFT's from mobile or internet banking... use debit card to refill TW account then send to BBL...

Please post when it turns up and if it shows as FTT ... have a nice rest of the day ...

From what I read it seems several/many are having problems with TW ... hope it is only short term ...

My situation is more funny. I officially working here and also have international income. Also my consulate still make affidavits. BUT as the preemptive step, I build transfers history in case there is any problem with other options. Before I just withdraw cash from my foreign ATM card... Nowadays technologies is not in compliance with what the immigration want to see... I not see the reason why bank can't give cash advice statement that Mr X withdraw X THB using foreign ATM card in his name at bank counter... but I understand appeal to logic will not work...

End result is I will continue using T/W , they have always been quick and their rate compared with my Australian bank is  at least one baht more per dollar, 2500 baht in my area buys at least three VERY good lunches per month.

A final note, T/W always show TMB as Thai partner bank , obviously API equiped and coded as such

They still not yet send out my funds since Monday. I afraid this is not some software upgrade, but something bad. Better pay for SWIFT guaranteed and clear, and bank which you may always reach in any case.

Think you are right all though for just over a year we had a good run.  Perhaps the two guys from Estonia who started TW have made their fortune and customer service is of no interest to them anymore ?

I just finished talk with support guy a minute ago and he seems not concerned about this at all, and they will lost $1000 in fees per year  from me and my friends.

I do the transfer as preemptive step, because my embassy still issued affidavits. Need to look for another options, as I not will to bury 400k here...

  7. Dear XXXXXX

I hope my message finds you well.

I've tried to call you to inform that a technical issue was causing the delay to your transfer. I am happy to confirm, that the issue has been solved and we will be able to pay out the transfer as soon you confirm that you accept the fact that the transfer might be paid out with different bank than the BBL. Our payment team has received your request the transfer to be paid out with BBL. Even though we do our best to fulfill your request, we can not guarantee, that it will be done.

    FORGET ABOUT TW!

Maybe if everyone does this, TW will get tired of processing all the phone calls and will provide a better solution.

I agree, they should include checkbox like "Send directly to recipient bank but this take longer"... Same thing with contact TW, after 5 min waiting talk with lady in UK, she found immediately my email conversations and manually routed transfer which I still wait from monday evening.  In status is not yet send out.

Friend of mine said the transfer once take 7 days (ouch).

I still wait update, as from 5 months experience I see the transfers send out from TW around 9 AM BKK time and arrive 2 PM +- 5 min in BBL, this time is always like this as I have SMS every time when International transfer come

I undertook two further TW transfers on the 8th July, called them in the UK to tag them in favour of Bangkok Bank, with my activity file showing that the money will be in my account after 4pm on the 9th. 4pm came and went and today (10th) after a 9 minute call to the UK, I received an activity entry showing both payments to be made tomorrow evening! I won't hold my breath.

This will be the last time I use TW because their Payments Team  cannot be trusted to follow through what their Customer Service operatives tell the customer, both verbally and in messages.

I wait my transfer since Monday evening. Also talked with UK TW support, transfer should arrive today but not yet. For now I not surprised - BBL ALWAYS deposit international transfers at 14:03 - 14:05 Thailand time.

  10. We can push the TW to fix this. I sent them several complaints and also asked to TAG account to transfer to BBL directly.

They will lost about $270 /year / one 50y.o expat, and  $170 / year / one married expat. This is absolutely HUGE loss, because only me and 3 my friends will pay as commission more than $1000 / year to TW... There is still 3 weeks until the end of this month, I think if they not fix in 2 weeks then all income idea is doomed for many of us.

If someone sceptic and ask for SWIFT, many banks not allow SWIFT remotely. No online SWIFT etc...

The only risk of not doing your report before you leave is when you do your first report after returning from your trip if they were check and discovered you did not report before leaving you could be fined 2000 baht for not reporting.

Report slips may be checked at borders soon.

  12. BOI can issue you a WP, when you are on a Non-O (extension based on marriage).

I had to tell the company agent who was handling my paperwork, as they initially wanted me to fly out of the country ...

Nothing amazing - even BOI officer needed to check this, and our friend lawyer too. Strange, this is very very basic thing - foreigner can work on marriage extension at any time and job not connected with granted type of stay, so if want to change - no problem. Perhaps because some stereotype, "farang = NON-B + WP". A lot of people dont know even on Multiple-Entry NON-O married is possible to work (but you still need to leave every 90 days).

  13. Generally foreign employees of BOI companies in Bangkok (and surrounds) have both extensions and WP's issued together at the One Stop Service Centre in Chamchuri Square. I'm pretty sure that if you are on a Marriage extension, you can't use that service. So perhaps that is why BOI would encourage you to go the Non-B route.

NON-O visa and extension is much more valuable. Yes, that's easier to process for BOI NON-B + extension, but there is not wise to close long-term NON-O in exchange for much weaker NON-B, which is connected to WP. WP expired / job changed - your visa / extension is invalid. I worked on NON-O married with BOI WP and just confirmed by BOI the expiration or cancellation of BOI WP is not affect extension of stay, because this extension issued based on marriage.

But, my mail question is about possibility to work under Co Ltd owned by my wife. We really don't want anymore headache with WP change, why not if we have own company @ family? Also, we have WP under our control, be sure all taxes paid on time, etc.

As I see, MD position is suitable for working with any client, i.e. foreigner can work for any client. Thats important. Also, Ubonjoe (thainks again) advice some Labor offices want 4, while others follow rules and want only 2 local employees per married foreigner. Also, this is important cos registered capital can be kept at 1 mil and not increased to 2 mil.

  14. Some work permit offices will want 4 Thai employees while others will still do them with 2 employees. The ministerial regulation was changed sometime in late 2010 or early 2011 and now apparently states 4 employees is needed (I have not seen a copy of the regulation).

The most important thing is to include a copy of your marriage certificate with the work permit application to prove what the non-o or extension is based upon. If they try to say a non-b is needed firmly disagree with them since the regulations only state a non immigrant visa is needed.

Yes, Just had such experience when BOI tried to change my visa to NON-B :) Which of course I dont need at all, we are married for years and I prefer to stay on NON-O married, most flexible and independent from jobs type of visa
