  1. Extremely convenient. For buyer. For seller (on ebay) not, fees high and slow withdrawal process. And if you want to withdraw from PP account to bank, it takes about 5 working days. I think you US citizen, because only for US PP using Direct Debit from/to accounts. All others can use only CC or Debit card and nothing more.

I use completely separated account from Kasikorn Bank to withdraw and Thai credit card for payment.

  2. 1 - CHECK stamp in passport officer put in. Do not need to "think", just CHECK 3 times.

2 - if anything incorrect, DO correction at border or at Immigration (not all time can be corrected at border)

3 - When she pays, she is accept she's guilty in violation of law.

Stories like this will be happen endlessly. I understand you want to help her, but I sure from now she will not forget this 20k fine and will check all stamps twice.

And this unclear reason to Cambodia trip w/o entering country.

  3. There is also no visit to our home and no talking with office at home or neighbours occur. I think before, Immigration will visit first time always, but not, and office tell no one come and talk with them also, Maybe because we show a lot of documents, including house registration and chanote all in my name...

There also no strict-strict rules about update of fixed deposit date and about possible withdrawal w/lost interest. Woman who accept and check documents just noted deposit monthly update date, which is about 3 days before I applied for extension, and maturity/release date, she tell "when come next time please update to day of visit", but as ubonjoe tell already, no one ask anything except passport with consideration stamp. At least good point, because small interest from fixed deposit is better than nothing on saving account...

Officials tells they don't know when normal operation at CW will be resumed, and for 90 days I can send mail to Ladprao also. But I need to make report at the end of May next time, then I hope CW will work as usual.

  4. Just returned, yes nothing even if they tell month ago I need to update passbook to date, and bank again not able to do this because of fixed deposit, and also transferring zero baht not able to to.. Worried about this, but all finished in 20 minutes - I give them passport, take number and in 20 min girl come out and give me stamped passport with +365 days. Great.

  5. 1. 500 for account opening + entrance fee + annual fee = more than 1000, depends on card type.

    2. Bank lady can have a commission if she issue new card for customer. Or branch have instructions from HQ and they just want to sell more services to customer.

    3. The missing value is prediction of services for particular customer. People (even Thai people) save millions on their bank accounts, and no one know this particular guy earn 400 thb per day...

  6. As HK lover, I can recommend to stay AWAY from Kowloon area. Why? You will pay pretty same money for shopping area stay. HK is HK and this is Island. 15k x 5 days = 3000 per day. For this money you can stay for example in Wanchai area. WiFi Hotel I stayed last year, no-hassle and right on the Lockhard Rd, where (surprise) you can find thai-style eateries like shops in Gateway Ekkamai and spend about 300 THB in HK money for good meal. Looking for Harbourview is also option, as recommended before IBIS (just steps from MTR). Do not forget to purchase MTR tourist pass cards, 1-2 rides by airport express and unlimited travel in MTR for 3 (actually 4 days). My first impression was great, because I booked day tour around city with dinner @ Avenue of Stars while watching Light Show. Strongly recommended, look @ internet "HK Day tours". I was sceptical but this is really good - Man Mo Temple, Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay, Stanley, Wanchai Ferry, dinner... What more? Big Buddha and Cable Car journey amazing.

Thai Consulate @ Admiralty MTR, if you come for visa they welcome you especially if you British citizen.

  7. Cant be to careful....lots of horror stories.

The best thing to have your own agent working for you at place. As russian, I can tell the agent is very do his job in very professional manner. Horror story is, if buyer, who bought your property, oh, sorry - actually not it but company, and then "discovered" loan for car, some business project, etc. This happens before and will happen in the future. Selling company with debt, it's a "popular" thing... This is why agent must to check balance and other things.

Not need to worry, but if buyer pays deposit, I can advice to go yourself and finish deal and transfer money abroad. Esspecially, if you not have trusted person on your side at location...

  8. Sorry, but visa runs are sometimes not affordable for people living on a small budget.

They better live in their home countries, but not come here and make a bad view from officials to another people of their nationality. Obtaining tourist visas is not a problem at all and 20k baht is eq. of 2 years of visa expenses for example double entrys and extensions.

  9. So, transfer money in 1,5 month in advance for your arrival. Then, when arrived, do not forget to update passbook immediately. Then, when your visa near end, go to Immigration and apply to conversion NON-O retirement, at the same time apply for extension. I think other members will correct me, if something wrong, but in this case you will no need to do tourist visa extension, you can stay under consideration and save 1900 thb, pay 1900 only for extension. Your money deposited will be matured already. before you make transfer, consult with bank, last time bank call my thai mobile while I was abroad, to confim transfer arrival and then put money to my account. Maybe you need to inform bank about incoming transfer? In my case bank wait until I authorise conversion and deposit by phone, but amount more than 50k usd...
