  1. > And it's at the moment (correct me if i'm wrong) THE ONLY PLACE where nobody has been refused entry

Why would someone who made an overstay be refused entry?

Overstayers always became clear once they paid before leaving Thailand.

    > By the way, an overstay of 10 DAYS will be a year ban. So forget all the talk about the 90 days,

There is no such "10 days/1 year" in the doc they make you sign in Immigration Office when getting an extension.

Maybe you can tell us what's more was on this "paper"...

Because this overstay madness must be ended. Period. I still remember my first trip to Laos for NON-B/WP, and "nice" european couple, who overstayed 14 days. If I was border officer, I will ban them for life for sh*t they speak while payed their fine.

We see clean from overstayers, "students", "tourists" Thailand right now, and much more cleaner in the new season. Good. At least government officers will not tell me long stories about Russian Mafia and illegals, while I process documents at MOF, DBD, MOL anymore.

  2. Interesting that they all look nothing like Thais, but more like civilians of a 5 yellow starred red flag country! whistling.gif

Of course. They all descendants of Chinese immigrants from beginning of 20-th century. Almost every rich here is Thai-Chinese. I have meet with one of them, not from these families, but story the same - self-made, perfect education, speaks Thai Chinese and English, a lot of energy and influence even already 60+ years old.

  3. As Russian, I can confirm, a lot of illegal workers here. We, who are really expats, hate our own nationality illegals - they work for rice, not have any responsibility and so on. They ruined quality of services offered to tourists.

But... When I was tourist, I come here then visit countries nearby, sometimes returned to Thailand 2-3 times in 1 month. Do all of this easy, because of visa exempt in Lao, Malaysia, Hong Kong.

I also know, a lot of people just fill gaps between legal jobs with border run.

So, this is a problem for a good people too.

IMO answer is simple. Every border runner - -1000 thb. Every visa holder - +1000 thb. Until you have money, you will never had problems like this.

  4. 1. You MUST send foreign currency and NOT thai baht for condo purchase. The Thai bank will do conversion to Thai baht and issue FET form.

    2. When I moved out from my country of origin, I use Ayudhya and conversion rate was good. The bank also call me and inform about transfer and ask transfer purpose and fill form in bank branch. After I agree with conversion rate and promise to visit bank soon, transfer was deposited to account.

  5. IT market in Thailand is not big and lack a lot of things. For example, there is almost impossible to buy ADSL2+ modem, only modem in bridge configuration, for example. I order them from China. A lot of HK and Shenzhen - available accessories is not present here, many times I not understand why and who develop brands for local market...

And, IT components in US cheapest in the World. My home IP PBX system cost in US $280, compared to... 20k THB in Bangkok! I ask brother, so he bought and sent it to my home in Bangkok.

But, before purchase anything just need to compare prices, as kkerry do above. Sometimes prices comparable, sometimes difference so big, and ordering from US is good idea.

  6. Slow of Fast, this depends on individual. But this is pretty useless to study Thai "few hours per week". I spend 3 hours per day in class + homework. The one year course cost about 72000 THB. So, you get what you pay for - after one year and 3 months of study I can speak, write, read (including newspapers) and this year can attend MOE competency test. You can start with UTL or RTL. AUA looks good too, but no one of my friends finish their courses, so no real feedback in this case.

  7. Every card have their pros and cons

I own Krungsri in the past and Bangkok Bank now. Krungsri give 10% discount in a lot of places, BKK bank have good travel insurance up to 8 mil. THB, both domestic and inter national travel. Both had points system, not much in rewards but every month I have vouchers for food chains.

The easiest way to obtain card from your salary bank. Kasikorn ask 80k salary and year on WP.
