  1. Hi mate, Long time no hear! Mai Tai is no longer; it's been rebranded as MGrand, and there are no more 'naughty girls' there! Boozer and Drone were permanently closed for selling alcohol during the COVID period or something like that. Op: Plenty of nightlife along the 'strip' (inner ring road 3073). Runs from the Sagate Conference Hall to the junction with the 2044. Easy enough to check on Google Maps. There are some good restaurants and many bars, some have hostesses. A stroll around the central lake (Bueng Planchai) is great in the evening to people-watch and to get a feel of the warm hospitality Roi-Et offers, along with the many small eateries and bars that surround it. Have a go on the zipline that has just opened from the Roi-Et tower to the centre of the island in the lake! There are a few 'farang' bars dotted about the city if you feel the need to get the local bamboo drum gossip; the usual suspects frequent! Is Roi-Et a place to go for a holiday? It definitely is not, but for a few days it's fine. If you're a beer-swilling womaniser looking for endless fun, then forget this hidden gem of a city. I live on the outskirts in a quiet mooban which suits me fine and enjoy the peaceful lifestyle, a 10-minute walk down the road from 'the strip' if I ever feel the need to frequent a bar or two!
  2. I suggest you take a crash course in how to use a search engine! That's if you know what one is? Duh. I always rhought you were dumb.
  3. Must be your ancient phone ...Even on lazada!
  4. Side-tracking a touch out of curiosity: I've seen a Canadian Embassy 'proof of income letter' and that doesn't have an expiry date, so how long is it valid for, as far as Thai immigration is concerned ... 3 months? Also, where is this time documented in the Immigration Act? I don't recall ever coming across it before.
  5. At least the Norwegian Embassy has given a reasonable transition period unlike the Canadian Embassy. A Canadian friend had no idea they had stopped the Embassy letter for proof of finances until I informed him the other week! I hope his IO gives him some leeway when he next does his retirement extension. He has now switched to the 65k p.m. option but will be 3 months short of the required 12 months.
  6. My friend, although capable of meeting the 65k monthly requirements, has only transferred monies as needed. How long was it after the UK etc. decided to cease the income letters that immigration announced a leniency guide for those affected?
  7. A related issue: I have a Canadian friend who will be affected by this as he uses the embassy affidavit route. His retirement extension is at the beginning of February, but he cannot transfer 65k every month because of commitments in Canada until August so he cannot show 12 months of transfers, after that date, he can easily meet the requirements. What are his options? He does not want the services of an agent! What are the financial requirements based on the income method if he leaves Thailand and re-enters to start a fresh non-imm O at the end of the year? Enter visa - exempt, extend and then 3-month non-imm O (show income proof from Canada) Obtain a 12-month extension ( show 3 months of 65k transfers to Thai bank) His Canadian pension letters state he has more than 65k after tax deductions and Canadian bank statements to back it up. Thanks.
  8. I'm not interested in American politics whatsoever but she looks and sounds as 'high as a kite'!
  9. I recently bought a Xiaomi 14T Pro for just under 20k, it came with 10k of accessories and a 4k robot vacuum cleaner! Lol. I am very impressed with the speed, hypercharge system (20 mins from 10% to 80%), battery life and the Leica camera system, as I recently took up amateur photography. The reviews on this phone are extremely positive, most stating it has the features of premium phones, some costing twice as much! I tend to use this phone much more than my old 5-year-old mid-price range phone as it's so much quicker and works flawlessly with Android Auto on my car, unlike my old phone that sometimes suffered with connection issues. I can understand some people objecting to paying over 10k for a phone, it comes down to whether you want the speed and features which some people don't (or are incapable of using). Each to their own.
  10. For the UK: If you have ever been self-employed or completed a self-assessment tax return, you would have been issued a UTR. (Unique Tax Reference) number. This can be found on the HMRC app or Gov. Gateway website. This is the UK version of a TIN.

  12. I've never seen any apples that cheap in Tops. Don't you mean 34 ฿ each? Being pedantic I know.
  13. In my neck of the woods, the full range of Carabao beers were available in BigC and Lotus's including the IPA. A few months ago they disappeared from the shelves, never to be seen again! I forgot About Cj stores, a new branch (small) opened a few months ago, I'll have to check there.
