One would guess some have done things differently than the 65k monthly transfers.

    Perhaps transferring as required etc.

My friend, although capable of meeting the 65k monthly requirements, has only transferred monies as needed.
How long was it after the UK etc. decided to cease the income letters that immigration announced a leniency guide for those affected?

  2. A related issue:
I have a Canadian friend who will be affected by this as he uses the embassy affidavit route.  His retirement extension is at the beginning of February, but he cannot transfer 65k every month because of commitments in Canada until August so he cannot show 12 months of transfers, after that date, he can easily meet the requirements. What are his options?
He does not want the services of an agent!
What are the financial requirements based on the income method if he leaves Thailand and re-enters to start a fresh non-imm O at the end of the year?

Enter visa - exempt, extend and then 3-month non-imm O (show income proof from Canada)
Obtain a 12-month extension ( show 3 months of 65k transfers to Thai bank)

His Canadian pension letters state he has more than 65k after tax deductions and Canadian bank statements to back it up.

    Thanks.

  3. In my neck of the woods, the full range of Carabao beers were available in BigC and Lotus's including the IPA. A few months ago they disappeared from the shelves, never to be seen again!

I forgot About Cj stores, a new branch (small) opened a few months ago, I'll have to check there.

I would recommend FlexAccount Nationwide, they have a 20 pound fixed fee for transfers up to the legal amount, make sure you have someone who can send you a new card reader or ATM card to Thailand, if and when you need one. p.s any card reader from any uk bank will work. I had a card reader that just stopped working (not the battery).

Nationwide send replacement cards to Thailand. I had not realised that mine was expiring and they automatically replaced mine to my Thailand address without me asking. Also, they sent me a new card reader not long ago at my request.
Download the NBS app in the UK.

Question , if an expat is here on a yearly extension and they are going by the 65,000 baht a month route , that is a yearly income of 780,000 baht.

That is in the tax band of 20% . So if they pay the 20% tax of 156,000 baht this leaves 624,000 baht , which is 52,000 baht a month , doesn't that take them below the 65,000 baht a month required for their extension ?

Thailand uses a sliding scale for tax deductions:
On  780,000 baht the tax due would be 71,000 baht image.jpeg.2690f508312d88e0c991151e61d44f74.jpeg

The Toyota Fortuner and the Corolla Cross are two very different vehicles.

The Fortuner is built on the Hilux pick-up truck chassis. It's a body-on-frame design which makes it suitable for heavy duty use (off-roading, carrying heavy loads, towing, etc.). This comes at the expenses of fuel efficiency, road handling, comfort and safety. Average mileage per liter of (diesel) fuel is approximately 8 to 9 km/l in urban cycle and 10 to 11 km/l on expressway (13 km/l the estimated fuel consumption by Toyota Australia Specs & Dimensions | Fortuner GX, GXL, Crusade | Toyota Australia).

The Corolla Cross is a unibody vehicle and is more suitable for an urban environment such as the one found in Bangkok.

It is a nimbler, more efficient vehicle with a mileage of approximately 19 km/l in urban cycle and 16 km/l on expressway, for the Hybrid HEV models, the drivetrain of which is optimized for urban use (24 km/l the estimated fuel consumption by Toyota Australia Specs & Dimensions | Corolla Cross GX, GXL & More | Toyota Australia).

The Corolla Cross in Aussie is a different beast than that in Thailand .... 2.0L V 1.8L so it has different fuel consumption. Also, I'm not sure if the Aussie version is a hybrid.
Average fuel economy of 23.3km/l for the 1.8 Hev.
I've got the Corolla Cross GR which benefits from superior suspension and more positive steering.

Had a look at it, and bought an item, out of curiosity.  Prices are much the same as existing platforms for comparable items and they definitely do not offer 90% discounts - the price you see on the description is the price that you pay but on the "Pay" page they show a crossed out heavily inflated "price" to lead buyers to believe that they are getting a big discount.

    Agree.
I do like the online website and it's easy to navigate.
The sizing of stuff seems to illuminate the guesswork and giving the models stats is helpful. For me, it's another source of online shopping.

I just did a transfer yesterday thru BMO for 5,000 CAD and it was already deposited into my KBank, I did it as a bill payment as it was $10 cheaper than interac payment. This is the confirmation from Wise

    Thanks for that!

The guy is hard to convince that it is possible to do it quicker and cheaper. I am aware that he used to use intervac some time ago but always had problems.

I've now discovered he's been doing it wrong anyway. Instead of using the 'send' option he's been using the CAD icon and also the pay by debit card instead of a cheaper option available. He's a little technophobic so pictures is the way to go! Lol.

Many thanks to all that have made the effort to help him.
