Shooting themselves in the knee
"We appeal to you to monitor the situations in Thailand closely to prevent and condemn the undemocratic conspiracy"
Are they not afraid the UN will monitor the situations in Thailand closely and find that the government and the leading party IS the undemocratic conspiracy?
"and to support free and fair election so that [the] process of democratisation in Thailand continues"
Are they not afraid that really free (means the voters get neutral information) and democratic elections might result in real democratisation and PTP loosing ?
Are they not afraid that
"65 million Thais will determine the course of their future to ensure that Thailand becomes a strong member of the UN and global community,"

It seems only reasonable that if someone throws a lot of ( other ) people's money at you, you're going to like him. The poor remain poor not because Thaksin doesn't know the story of teaching how to fish rather than buying a fish. The poor remain poor because Thaksin benefits far more if they remain poor. He needs them to come back again and again. Self-sufficiency is the last thing Thaksin wants for the poor. And he doesn't want them informed either. He needs them indoctrinated by red shirt radio, so that each day they are told that the people of Bangkok don't like them. Not only that, but they're " elite ". " Us " versus " them " works for Thaksin. He needs both dependency and anger. As long as the people remain poor and uninformed, Thaksin maintains the base he wants. He can feed both the dependency and the anger. The problem for Thaksin is not that the farmers have become rich. The problem for Thaksin is that they have become informed.
Reason enough to change the election system.
(and to support education, integrity and information)

This behaviour - this group has to end
-
I am very surprised to read that. (irony off)
Just look in whose interest is / was it to intimidate the anti Thaksin (-government) protesters?

The PDRC and UDD events could not be more contrasting :
PDRC events : a call for reform before an election
a call for the strengthening of the independent agencies
a call for accountability and addressing of corruption
UDD events : a call for the dismantling of the independent agencies
a call for the impeachment of judges on the Constitutional Court and the appointment of new judges
a call for secession
a call for ten million Thais to arm themselves with guns
The answer is easy... "are the independent agencies independent..??"
depending on your answer (or how you get it to be from your Point of view) you know who is right..
So you are pretending the independend agencies are not independent.
Can you proof this?

Sutheps popcorn bandits and henchman.
This guy will stop at nothing. He is a maniac together with the fake monk who is still holding everyone hostage.
But again, this it tit, an it seems that what ever you do if you are connected you can get away with anything.
So obviously wrong and ridiculous. Not worth the time to start discussing
It's clear where this rubbish comes from.

The owner of the pump station is (was) supporter of the opposition.
Suthep blocked the Shin Business, this is the answer (grenades, killing intention)
I don't know if this is true,
but do you think
throwing bombs is an adequate answer to blocking a business ?

Logic would dictate that these were caused by anti-government supporters in the supposedly "Red Stronghold". However, this is Thailand, where "logic" has no bearing, so who knows?
But living in CM, this is something I've been expecting to happen, so it's not exactly a surprise.
Edit for Typo
logic says that those who are known for violence, bomb, gun and grenade attacks and who are talking about war and wardrums are those who did this.
Not those who are not known for this kind of violence
Logic also says, that the more of one of those groups are in that area tha more likely it is they did this.
(And btw everyone knows anyway - by common sense)

lol - "The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship" that wants to overturn criminal convictions so that their leader can return and set himself up.......as a Dictator.
So, one "democratic" side wants their dear leader back so they can have N Korea style "elections" where you can only vote for dear leader and you have to vote or be shot and dear leader is guaranteed to win 100% of the vote every time.
And the other "democratic" side wants what, an un-elected, unaccountable body to select the leader they choose and that the "people" have no say in the matter ?
And neither side sees any irony in calling themselves "democratic".
No wonder there are so many bars in this country. Maybe if you kill off, or at least stupefy enough brain cells, it will all make sense.
At least now I know to not bother trying to ride my moto tonight ! The regular Friday night traffic jam ought to be "amazing" tonight !
I agree with your writing
"The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship"
in quote signs, because we all know this name says the opposite of what is meant. It is an abuse of the word democracy.
May be "The United Front for Dictatorship against Democracy " would be correct.
And the other "democratic" side wants what, an un-elected, unaccountable body to select the leader they choose and that the "people" have no say in the matter ?
They say they want elections in 1 or 1 1/2 year.

Is the rumour true, that the police arrested the Samurai Gang who attacked Mr. Abhisit, and their names were Nattawut, Jatuporn and Thida?
And then the police allowed them to escape?

Perhaps it is time for the true Redshirts (not the leaders, who are paid by the man in Dubai, but the followers who want true justice) to join with the farmers and protesters (again not the leaders, who have their own agenda, but the followers who want true democracy and an end to corruption). If these people could get together without their leaders, we might see true reform.
Sent from my i-mobile IQ X using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Would be nice. But are you sure these grassroot redshirts know what it' s all about? Or know what democracy is? If they did they were not red shirts and would not follow their leaders.

I wonder who increase the party list mp from 100 to 125 a few years back? Mark?
Why does this matter now?
btw I don' t like the derogative use of the name Mark, Are you talking about Khun Abhisit?
Who are you to belittle a well educated and integer person ?
Can you compare your standard only slightly with Khun Abhisit?
I doubt that
-
1. Can we trust the Thai police announcements? Are they not known for finding wrong culprits or scapegouts?
2. Maybe a strategie of armed red shirts in disguise. When they are cought they pretend to be PCAD guards?
= peaceful strategie, reds show never violence, only their "enemy"
-
looks like they are aware thet the reds will up the violence if they leave, they are the only thing keeping it under check at the moment. The police will simply let the reds do as they please, this is the only way to go till the protests are abandoned, will certainly p*ss of the ptp and reds but....
quite interesting, that yingluck wants the army away

Holy Moley!.......Now I've read everything! Sheeshhh........? Progressive forces? Did I miss something taking place in Thailand over the last 4 Months? Could it be that this has-been is implying that Kuhn Suthep and his cohorts are the Progressive Force that will bring the Kingdom to the Crossroads or perhaps the Abyss? If so, why stop there Kuhn Kasit Piromya? Just say he is the NEW Moral Compass of Thailand! A genuine beacon of light in the darkness of Thai Politics. These so called progressive forces must man up and earn that title with a WIN at the ballot box! Let all eligible voters have an unobstructed opportunity to cast their vote in order to decide any future Path for the Kingdom to take.
he is referring to the Thai people in general I don't believe he mentioned Suthep
I believe Thailand has turned a page for the good of the people or could be called a new positive chapter - lets hope so
I also believe that social media has helped considerably - it's not so easy to fool people anymore
I also believe, that Khun Suthep has earned great merit for bringing Thailand forward. He helped to wake up people.
Without his action everything would be as before the failed amnesty bill, and then 180 days ... And who would pay attention to the big rice scam ?
About the article:
wouldn't it be nice ...

So how much smack talk does it actually take to get locked up around here?
Sent from somewhere in the Pacific
Suthep is still out and about running around so I guess it takes at least more than 4 months worth.
when did Suthep talk about or plan a "riot army" or talk in favour of violence?
only morons compare the talks of Suthep with the dangerous moron Ko Tee

The police should take the lead here, not the Army, the Army continues to align itself with the PAD/PDRC which creates even more division.
yes it would be the job of the police.
And in every democratic country they would have done it, even long ago
The military would not have been needed in 2010. Everything would have ended peacefully with the redshirts in jail and the country democratic.
But
Obviously they continue to align themselves with the red shirt / ptp, which creates even more division
So I am happy that at least the army takes responsibility

From the book "Examples of what an army chief in a civilized and democratic country should say nothing about"
And in a country that is neither civilized nor democratic?
-
"The next battle will be big."
He ruled out violence, saying that any new strategy would involve "no weapons".Does this mean, the "new strategy" will be more of the red shirts will put on black closes (again) and will fight the "big battle"
their usual violent way -
while the "red" red shirts will wash their hands of it ?
-
To sue is a civil action, why are criminal charges not being brought against these people and why are the army even involved, another example of what is very badly wrong in this country
This should be the coronar's job.
I don't know, if this institution is existing in Thailand.
So anyway, either they do not exist or they do not do their job
Someone has to step up and do what is necessary.
If nobody else does - I am happy the army does.

"Suthep said it became clear of the increasing threats by what he described “rowdy political hooligans”.
The worst hooligan is Suthep himself.
Really?
Did he burn houses down?
Did he fire grenades?
Did he intimidate?
Did he spray blood and shit to people he does not like?
Did he burn effigies of other people or curse them?
First I wanted to add "dream on"
but I do not think you're dreaming.
If you are not completely unclever than your intention is not good.
The only thing he has not done YET is burn down houses. And who has burned down any houses. He has killed 90 people in 2010 and got many others killed thin year. He has or his thugs have neaten many people just for doing what they want.
SO PLEASE got your facts straight.
Stop lying. He has not killed anybody. Military had to shoot in self-defence at the area from where they were shot and from where grenades have been fired. They did this after warning. You know very well that he was accused for murder for political reasons only. And by the way, he did none of the things you say - where are your references? Red shirt radio?
