  1. Amsterdam is brilliant. He describes Thai democrats struggling to overcome the oppression of rich fat cats who bend the law for their own interest. Your only response is "Thaksin". If Thaksin and all his kin were gone would it then be okay with you if the red shirts elected someone else (they are the majority, after all)? I doubt it. Their candidate would then be "follower of Thaksin" or "successor of Thaksin". No matter what, you will never be happy with majority rule, because it will always return someone who doesn't agree with your selfish desire to exploit the poor.

The problem with democracy is, that it works as it should only, when the majority is decent and well educated,

if this is not the case we will always have a ruling of the lower educated or indecent masses

  2. "...in order to achieve the pro-government group’s goals.....Thai Red Shirts vow 'final fight' to defend Yingluck....show of support for the crisis-mired premier"

The above quotes, all a subtle put-down of the event being reported upon.

    >Pro-Government? - Wrong..Pro-Electoral and Parliamentary Democracy

    >"group"?.....Those representing the electoral majority gathering in their thousands, are a "group"?

    >"Defending Yingluck"?...The old PAD-Dem mantra of trying to separate her and the PTP from its majority electoral base...They are not defending 'Yingluck"...They are defending their votes and the Govt. they selected. The anti-democrats are up against an electoral majority...Not Yingluck.

    >"Crisis-mired premier"?.....Coup-intended unelectable political forces do not 'mire a premier?....Advocating their anti-democratic vision does not reflect badly on a premier as this quote implies....Quite the reverse if one thinks it through.

The following comments by Amsterdam to the rally last night give an insight to what is transpiring at that event. Some paraphrasing those comments here:

    • Suthep is disqualified from using the word “Reform”
    • Av is disqualified from using the word “Democracy
    • Const. Court is disqualified from calling itself a “court”
    • Prayuth cannot speak about “Peace”
    • The HRC must not define Human Rights for Thailand.
    • We are getting tired of a permanent coup of the DP and Army against law.
    • Time for the PTP Govt. to quit obstructing the Thailand’s case at the ICC
    • The coup we face now, is a continuation of the violence of 2010
    • The essential reform that needs to occur is a return to the constitution of 1997
    • No reform is possible without reform of the Thai military.
    • Who does Prayuth think he is, lecturing us about democracy and Government.
    • Have any Red Shirts voted for Prayuth?
    • Since when is Prayuth a Minister of the Government.
    • The rule of law must be reformed in Thailand
    • Reforming the rule of law is not just a Red Shirt issue. But that of Thailand as a whole. All parties must recognize past mistakes.
    • Many people ask, “How can we change Thailand”?
    • Simple way…Stop drinking beer…boycott other entities engaged in anti-democratic activism.
    • Have to ask the DP how is it that two men accused of murder, can lead change and reform
    • What is it about Thailand that people charged with murder can block people from voting.
    • Call the PDRC what they truly are…They are Thailand’s Taliban and must be stopped.
    • The Thai Taliban is more dangerous because the West does not understand who they are.
    • We are continuing representations to the Geneva Inter-Parliamentary Union.
    • We will seek to condemn the CC over section 232 regarding ‘collective guilt’. Hearings have been scheduled.
    • We will take international action here, regarding the CC and NACC.
    • This International intervention only a beginning.
    • I recognize all of those gathered here and Red Shirts everywhere in Thailand, that we are at a serious moment of Thai history. For that reason we begin new initiatives in the International arena.
    • We intend to place International sanctions against individual members of the anti-democratic networks.
    • May take months or years, but intend to list members of Independent Organizations who are thwarting Democracy in Thailand.
    • We will ask Western Govts. To seize assets and prevent anti-democratic functionaries from leaving Thailand. Will severely curtail AV’s frequent trips to London.
    • Red Shirts need to remember, they are not alone in their battle for Democracy.
    • In the coming weeks, the DP will attempt to seize power, because they cannot win an election.
    • The only enemy the Thai army can defeat is democracy and justice.
    • We need to understand that the army and DP are watching to see the size and scope of every RS demonstration.
    • I salute you for coming this weekend and my prayers are with you during this dark chapter of Thai history.

    jep! that makes sense

  3. The Army should take heed that where ever it deploys its soldiers, it should check-in with the local private armed militias to get clearance and assure its presence is monitored so as not to create accidentals shootings. wai.gif If fact why is the Army even showing itself in public. The STR and PDRC militias seem more than capable of keeping THEIR peace and practice their brand of justice as they see fit. Frankly, the idea of allowing private militias in public political protests is another step into a lawless society and follow a path away from democracy. Thailand may become the next "liberated" Libya. The Army should not be operating as a law enforcement agency within Thailand and the private militias need to be banned. How's that for Reform?

he private militias need to be banned. How's that for Reform?

but the private grenade attackers and bomb throwers should be banned first - no militia necessary then

this also accounts to the private red shirt milita

an unbiased capable police force should be in place first of all

  4. Sad that this crackpot is the best that Thailand can put up as a "leader."

I doubt he is a crackpot.

Anyway, virtually anybody who has nothing to do with this "government", its party and its militia is better than the present "government"

  5. Thankyou Suthep for all the protesting that has virtually ruined my business.

I feel sorry for your loss.

But you should not blame Suthep.

Blame an uncapable and criminal "government" that made protests inavoidable

and did not even have the honor to step down in time.

You are not alone, think about the rice farmers.

I hope after a better government is installed you will get help.

Would you expect this from the present "government" - you would not - except you are a redshirt / PTP

  6. This is getting quite comical now.

Wring it can become quite serious now, remember, the people kinda asked the army to come out, and if they get what they asked for, the army won't return to the barracks. That's what those spoilt kindergarten kids from each opposition party gets for their I, I, I- me-me-me-first autoDEMOcracy,... A Thailand ruled by the military, is what unfortunately most opposition followers deserve, by dragging innocent people into their games who will unfortunately suffer the most.

Imagine you have an army officer at each and every house guarding your actions in your daily life from morning to night each and every day, even asking for permission to go to the toilet or buying food, watching TV programs or using the internet, etc... for all eternity

imagine you have an army officer at each and every house guarding your actions in your daily life

    better than

you have a red shirt officer at each and every house guarding your actions in your daily life

you are kidding - may be it should happen to the criminals (I don't need to name them)

  7. He noted that the mass rally was necessary to send a message to the Constitutional Court that the red-shirt followers would not let the court to seize power from the parliament, the government and the people.

  8. Suthep drew an amount of supporters (I will not get into a numbers game) last weekend for his rally and it was peaceful. It is a testament to the PDRC and backs up the US Ambassador's statement of peaceful protestors. Imagine that amount of people exercising their democratic right to protest and only a single gun shot was heard and of course this was at the NACC building were the terrorists were camped and was accompanied by knife wielding terrorists as well. Thank god the army cleared the weapons from the site earlier. It could have turned nasty.

So with the US acknowledging the PDRC are peaceful, with the greater community acknowledging the PDRC are peaceful and with a protest at Lumpini park where the only grenades present are the ones getting thrown into the park, one can hypothesize the PDRC will not cause any problems on the 5th of April.

The terrorist wing of the PTP however are at the opposite end of this rainbow and rest assured there aint no pot of gold there. There would be a large dirty cache of weapons at the end of that rainbow guarded by Jatuporn and Nattawut, the leprechaun terrorist leaders if you will. The terrorists have already been so brazen as to dismantle army check points and that was a small group. When they get larger numbers together though mob rule prevails. One need only look at the brutal terrorist uprising of 2010 to see how these terrorists act under a mob rule scenario.

I hope the army are able to separate the terrorists and the police from the peaceful PDRC protestors because if they don't then one can surrmize some more cheering and clapping from the terrorist supporters at the next "Beat the war drum" meeting when the casualty figures of innocent protestors are released.

You refer to Suthep and his group of followers "exercising their democratic right to protest" but refer to the red shirts, who wish to do the same, as "terrorists". It was not the red shirts that attacked government buildings in Bangkok and closed them down. It was not the red shirts that stopped Bangkok people from voting in the February general election. Terrorists?

The red shirts would not have shut down the government offices, they would have burnt them down.... everyone knows that.

The red shirts would not have blockaded voters, they would have shot at them..... everyone knows that.

    Yes, they are terrorists.

Strange how since that bunch of red shirts were arrested last week, the M79 grenade attacks and shootings have ceased.

The only people who will ever agree with you as to the red shirts not being an active terrorist organization, will be other red shirts... Your time is wasted trying to convince educated farang otherwise, unless of course they are married into red shirt families.

"Your time is wasted trying to convince educated farang otherwise, unless of course they are married into red shirt families."

Ah so you are an educated farang? You seem to know a great deal about "the red shirts" perhaps you have lived in the northeast of Thailand for over a decade?

Perhaps you have been involved with the largest university in the northeast of Thailand for many years?

Or are you 'fresh off the plane' with 30 odd posts to your name?

you need not be educated to understand that woopydoo is right. It is enough to learn the facts

  9. Great idea,

I heard there have been tests running secretly in Isan and Chiangmai

    during more than 10 years.

Evaluation of effects on health and mental performance have been done.

While the effects on cancer could not been proven, mental health has been

severely damaged. After running the tests for 3 years more of 44.23214 %

    of the population turned redshirt.

I'm confused...at first you say the visa expires in December and then you say 3 April. Which is it...is 3 April a 90-entry expiry? Kinda sounds like to me she wants you to get a reentry permit but should not be necessary if in fact your visa is good till December.

    Call me confused!

Try reading the OP's post again !

Read it slowly and you will note it makes sense !

I saw the multi-entry stuff the first go around, what I don't understand is his saying the visa expires in December and then later says it expires on the 3rd of April. Can you explain that inconsistency?

He says the visa expires DEC 2014!

He says NOTHING about the visa "expiring" in April !

The OP says he has a muti- entry visa !

A multi - entry visa allows multiple entries, each of which will allow a stay not exceeding 90 days for as long as the visa is valid.

The OP does not need to go to immigration !

There is NO inconsistency just a simple typo !

    Absolutely correct.

Multiple entry visa for one year.

He has to leave the country every 90 days

and will get another 90 days as long the visa is valid

They done interviewing these guys? Who the bosses are, where the weapons came from?

Exactly. Someone's paying them to do this. It would take a brave policeman to inquire much further, and to announce the findings. Shame the police aren't paid enough to take such risks.

This mob are all part of the Ko Tee offshoot of the reds.

Ko Tee gets no respect from the UDD and the northern reds at all. He is considered a loose cannon and totally goes over the top. Even though we know all red shirts are way over the top. This guy is a liability to the PTP/UDD/Reds.

At all the wrong times when that movement were pulling back from their secession chatter once they gauged the reaction to it (both military and the people in general), there was Ko Tee running his mouth off about reds supporting it, and hanging up pro-secession banners with his name on.

He has threatened detailed violence and law breaking (bank robbery and looting petrol to burn BKK) at the time UDD announce non-violent and lawful means.

Although I know the UDD/Reds are largely of the same mindset, they are trying the subterfuge method which this idiot keeps blowing wide open.

The police are clearly under orders from above to stop this guy, hence forbidding his new red radio channel without license which he would never be able to get from authorities, and starting to remove his supporters from the equation. The next move will possibly to take him out altogether.

This also serves as a message to the world that the police are not biased, which is a nice propaganda bonus for them.

It also didn't help that these idiots were found acting suspiciously right next to a large cache of weapons and the army were there at the time helping the police, so the cops had no choice but to do something.

Sorry, I doubt that - I did not hear any of them condemn him or at least dissociate themselves.

May be it's a strategy, playing good redshirt - bad redshirt ?

edited for making the layout clearer

  12. put them in the same cell as the yellow shirt popcorn guy or did he get bail? Still more on both sides to be rounded up including that monk who ordered the beating of the guy then his execution

Still more on both sides to be rounded up

I guess there will be an overwhelming majority on one side

    And I know on which

Suthep announces intention to fight to eliminate Thaksin's regime

BANGKOK: -- People's Democratic Reform Committee spokesman secretary general Suthep Thaugsuban made an announcement at the Royal Plaza to reaffirm the PRDC's commitment to fight to eliminate the Thaksin regime.

He said the regime was a danger of the country. He said the PDRC would join hands with the people to fight to reform the country so that the nation would have genuine democracy for the real benefits of the people.

    And what's wrong with it?
