Correct.... It is easy for us to see them and make judgements, have to remeber we have three fingers pointing back at us..... However ours is not the right to judge. In Place upgrades suck..... Plan to spend some time if you are upgrading an existing 7.10 or 8.0.4 version. in particular if you are running server as a vmware host.

If it was like that already and as you said (you are bypassing your router). That means your apartment complex already has a DHCP server in the network. if you want to use your wireless router it will need to be set to accept a dhcp address.

If you can do the following we can likely help you get that router working.

on your internet connected laptop...

go to START then RUN and type CMD and open the command prompt.

type the following.

ipconfig /all

this will show your internal network connection information including DHCP, DNS, WINS if used.

From that information we should be able explain the router set up.

Also what make/model router are you attempting to use?

Well Midori... a couple of things here...

1. You should at least be pleased that farang guys are ASKING you for sex as opposed to NOT asking..... Think of it as a compliment....

2. I have and keep a number of different Thai female friends here in BKK where we comfortably have ongoing non-sexual relationships.

For me, as a single man, GFs may come and go (such is life and romance), but my women Thai friends and I stay in touch and together because we like each other, feel comfortable together, and typically have some history together...

When you're dating, it's typically a much more regular schedule of meeting and going out... But for my platonic friends, it's more sporadic... We may not get together for a month or two... But when we do, it's just picking up like nothing happened in the meantime.

It's also kind of nice...because it's break from all the game-playing and occasional strife associated with romance. Given the choice of a night out with the guys or a night out with one or more Thai women (platonic), I'd choose the ladies any day...

I think that a lot of men don't really see the point in being 'just friends' with girls. They can get everything they want out of friendship with other dudes.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this statement...... There is such a different dynamic in mens friendship with other men than with women. My best friend is a girl who i have known since school. We are still the best of friends even though we both have great marriages... The friendship that I have with my guy friends is completely different.

I am running Virtual Box in Ubuntu on my Vaio. I have been quite happy with it, except the graphics performance is pretty limited. There is not much acceleration available for programs like Adobe and absolutely no 3D acceleration. Adobe programs is the main reason for me to even run Virtual Box. When doing some 3D in Maya or playing a game I am forced to reboot to a 'pure' Windows.

Can you tell me if the lack of video acceleration is the fault of VirtualBox or is it inherent to running Windows in a VM? Would using another VM application, possibly VMware, alleviate that limitation? This is key for me as I use Adobe PhotoShop CS3 on a (near) daily basis.

It's a problem with all Virtualisation programmes. I suppose that in the future simple devices could be emulated by using an open intel driver that makes calls to opengl natively, but then you start getting into a Wine implementation......

I currently use Windows XP in a vmware environment. We constantly use Macromedia tools, and have not had any issues with them. 2 things here. Make sure that you have Vmware tools or virtual box version. The other is to make sure that you have enough CPU / Ram given to the os. If you are running xp on less than a gig of ram in a virtual environment then you are going to see issues with the programs you are running.

Another thought is that it sounds like you are using the Virtual box console to use your xp box. Is that a correct assumption? Try using remote desktop from your linux desktop.... you will find that this will be a lot smoother. I watch videos through mine with no loss of quality.

1 other thing that struck me when I was reading this post ..... Gaming... If you are a serious game or semi serious. Try installing wine then download and install an engine called Cedaga which runs in conjunction with wine. I use this on my ubuntu workstation and my games work just as well as they did from my windows xp install... here again though you have to make sure that you have ram/graphics/cpu enough to run it correctly.

But it's only some people who are that way. I have found the majority of Thais to be genuine and very good hearted.

It's no wonder that so many mixed relationships fall apart here. No woman will ever respect a wimp, they need someone stronger to provide security. So many times I see guys crying about having been taken for a ride, submitting to all the demands and accepting being sodomized, then being dumped or ignored.

Grow some backbone. Don't come bitch on a forum. Throw out the family, workers and maybe even the TV. Just maybe she'll get some respect for you.

I am not saying I disagree with you here, however a thought occurs to me.. And maybe.

To me this sounds familiar. you were with her for 5 years in oz and things were great....( I would be willing to bet that she didn't really have a close network of friends/family at least not like she had in LOS.) and you were the really the single source of strength/caring in her life. I think you got used to the way things were obviously. Then you move back to LOS (I dont think I would have moved next door to the family, but that is neither here nor there) now things have changed..

Could part of the problem be that you felt out of place and with all the relatives/friends in the house all speaking Thai? Speaking from experience, it is easier just to retreat off by your self and stay out of the way... but then hindsight is 20/20. Having gone through this here is what I found to work.... Even though you may not want to do some of the things that were posted earlier...... Just start participating, make sure you are involved, make an effort to be a part of the group learn Thai and so on.... you are going to need to do this before you can really sit her down and talk with her about it. Other wise she is gonna throw it back and say you don't take part/ don't want to be involved.... Also agree with the sentiment that you need to be a little more forceful and stand up for your self.... Make sure you are taking an interest and make her explain what is going on ( certainly if your money is going in to it) That is your right...

Big thing is you are going to have to make an effort and show some interest before you can expect her to change the way she is living. I would almost bet that this is the way her lifestyle was like when she lived at home.

One other thought, and only the OP can see what is happening.... To those comments that she is cheating on you/ doesn't need you.... These folks sound like someone who have failed relationships... only you the OP knows whether she is spending a lot of time away from the house and you.... Dude! get involved even if you don't want to.... stand up for your self and make sure everyone knows you are going to take part... I suspect just making your self a part of the group, and being involved will change a lot of things with your wife and the family / friends...

Well that is my 2 cents.... but this hits home to me as I have been through it... It took some time for me to make my self get involved and that was thanks to another Farang who had seen the same thing.. we have been married for 10 years now and life is good... Good luck to you.....!!

If you don't want to be marginalised and spend every night on the reserves bench you should try getting more involved with ' them '. Firstly, start learning to speak more thai or lao so that you can join in more with the conversation. Like the Alpha dog you will have to excert you position on them. Don't stay upstairs, sit downstairs amongst them and read a book or the paper or whittle wood, anything but just try to avoid totally surrendering your space to them. Get in your mother in laws good books by whatever means possible so that she takes your part. Buy her small gifts of fruit etc. Make visitors bring their own booze by not keeping any in the house yourself. Talk to your wife and tell her you want everyone out of the house by 11.00 p.m. except on special occasions.

Finally if 11.p.m. comes around and the relos are still cluttering up the house, wear you smallest Y fronts and start pottering around in front of them, collecting glasses and emptying ashtrays. EXERT YOUR PRESENCE or you'll end up in the dog house. Woof !

While i can see a valid point here or there (remarking Buddhism lends it's self to other religions) I don't agree with this. The mantra of today "We are all right, and if they are not right you must make them feel they are right"; Now I am sure there are a lot of good people saying they are jubu's or whatever. Not that it matters, people have the right to do as they choose. I know it's a freedom of expression but do they realize how *eccentric and out of touch they really sound? I am not Buddhist however I find it to be a beautiful religion that I have enjoyed studying. Also these people seem to be forgetting just how strait-edge the Judaeo Christian religions are.
